I personally wouldn’t buy or service a Jeep here if you have or plan on modding it (and what fun is that since that’s why we buy them). When I took my Wrangler in for an audio issue (the Uconnect head unit in Jeeps is known to have issues, look into it), the service advisor was, in my opinion, immediately dismissive once he heard I had aftermarket speakers and I didn’t feel like he even listened to my background story. Well, they decided my aftermarket speakers (that have been there for years) are causing the problem with the factory amp, suddenly, years later. I’d sure love an explanation for how speakers damage an amp given the signal goes one way. It felt like they saw an easy out and took it. The lady you pay and answers the phone was very kind and pleasant. Maybe you ought to make her a service advisor?
Update: so I talked to Dylan, one of the guys that owns Trail Seven in Maryland, one of the go to places for Jeep audio. He says the factory amp does not cut out in protective mode, that it goes to half volume. But that said, he agrees that the factory amp has gone bad. But he says NOT from the speakers. So in other words, It appears I was charged to figure out a factory amp had gone bad on a vehicle under warranty and not offered a replacement.
Update 2: so I have now bypassed the factory amp and it is indeed broke. Blaming better speakers for blowing an amp would be like blaming better than stock tires for blowing an engine. Sure you can go faster/louder, but they don’t actually break the engine/amp. That is, in. my opinion, a cop out. I think the top being off our Wrangler year round has much more to do with me perhaps using higher than average volumes. The Jeep is designed to do that from the factory abd the factory amp should be designed to handle it.
