Shopped Neilsons between 1971 and 1974 when I was a law student and then a business school student before transferring to USM for a MBA. Customer service was great and quality in men's wear was very high.Visited again sometime in the 1980'S.

Do not buy jewelry from here if they tell you it’s real. It’s a scam. I bought a Chanel necklace from here a year and a half ago and made sure to ask if it was real Chanel. The lady helping me said it was real vintage Chanel with real gold with a real gold chain that wasn’t original to the necklace but she assured me that the pendant was real Chanel. I wanted to sell it recently so I took it to a pawn shop. Turns out it’s completely fake. No gold at all and not real Chanel. I paid $150 before tax which is a great deal if it were real but unfortunately it’s not and I can get the same necklace on Aliexpress for $5. I do not think the lady helping me knew that it was fake but what upset me is that I went back and spoke to an older gentleman who seemed to be either the manager or the owner to tell him the situation and he was quite rude even though I came to them very kindly and told me that they have never sold something like this. But I bought my necklace from here. He seemed very defensive right off the bat which gives me the impression that this has happened before. There were multiple other Chanel pieces when I bought mine so others have bought fake jewelry from here at a very high price for fakes. The employees here are very nice but someone in charge is trying to scam people like me who don’t know any better. Do not trust them because they won’t help you afterwards. If anyone else has experienced this, please reach out to me because this was very illegal

I visited Neilson’s Department Store on the courthouse square in downtown Oxford, Mississippi.Although the large store is the oldest department store in the South, founded in 1837, it has a contemporary feel. Now, mainly men’s, women’s and children’s clothing is sold, all of high quality.Credit and debit cards are accepted.

I have been in Neilson's several times while in Oxford. This time I needed some shirts and went in to see what they had. Summer shirts were on sale so I got a few. The service was good as was the selection which was broad. I picked up a brochure while there that tells the history of the store. There aren't many that have lasted since 1839 so they know how to do business in their market.

Excellent service. Beautiful store with a huge selection of children’s clothing (both boy and girl), Women’s dresses and shirts, men’s relaxed clothing along with work attire and suits. Wish we had more time to shop.The staff was all very friendly, and engaged with my 3 year old son who is rambunctious at times and it kept him happy and intrigued. You could tell the employees loved working there, which comes from the top down in approach to consumers. Great job and keep up the solid work. If I wasn’t a Razorback fan, I’d be buying all of the Ole Miss Hotty Toddy stuff, also. Not many stores like this left in the internet age.

Horrible return policy. Rude store manager. If you do not live in Oxford, do not shop here. If you can’t be back in 14 days to make a return, you are just out of luck. I purchased a coat for a gift on 11/11 and tried to exchange for a different size on 11/29. They were out of the coat that I wanted to exchange. The sign said store credit could be issued at the discretion of the store manager. On this particular day the store manager used his discretion to lose a customer. I h
