PET APPROVED!
Poplar Springs may have a higher price point than other vets, but I am telling you all now it is worth it - you and your pets are worth it.
Dr. Carney (or "Chip") is the most down to earth vet I've ever had the privilege of taking my animals too. He's informational, honest, direct, and calm. He has a very nonchalant kind of attitude to him that I absolutely adore (maybe that's just the military grump in me though) and it makes it that much easier to talk to him.
Most importantly though, he is available when our family needs him. We've had emergencies and situations where we were unsure if it required immediate action, and we were able to get in touch with him regardless if it was late at night or a weekend.
Also, the office staff and the vet techs/assistants are so polite and kind and knowledgeable. You really feel so welcomed, like family! Bonus, my dog's love everyone there too.
Bit of a back story (as if this review isn't long enough!) I came to Poplar Springs after having a deadly experience with another vet (who I will not name.) Our previous vet gave my dog medication of which I had made it clear my dog was allergic to, Ivermectin. I didn't realize she had done this until I checked the paperwork later after noticing medical issues with my dog. My dog's health quickly declined, seizures, drooling, disorientation, just awful things. I brought my dog back to that vet every day for three weeks demanding help; I explained she was suffering from Ivermectin toxicity and the disorientation and seizures were making her aggressive (to which she had NEVER been before!) The vet said it wasn't a health issue, it was a behavior issue, and she recommended I put her down because you "can't train that out of her." I was in tears every day trying to get help from this vet, even a referral from her to a specialist. She told me "the cost wouldn't be worth it." I was speechless. Eventually my dog's attacks got so severe she had to be euthanized. I wanted to sue for malpractice but I didn't have the energy. ... All that to say, that previous vets lack of knowledge or care killed my dog. When I found Poplar Springs and brought our other dog in for a first time visit, the front reception asked me if I was interested in flea/heartworm prevention. I made the comment "as long as it's not ivermectin" kind of passively (still upset about my other dog.) The receptionist looked at the sign I was holding and said, "fortunately we would never give that cutie ivermectin, his breed is one that's allergic to it, we've got lots of other options though!" I started crying right there, tears of relief and regret that I hadn't found Poplar Springs Vet sooner. I knew immediately my family was going to be in good hands.

I took my dog here to have blood tests ran because he is very sick and has Cushings Disease. I wanted to check his blood to make sure he was doing ok. I didn’t want to have to drive all the way to Jackson where his other vet was that’s treating him for Cushings just for a blood test. So I decided to do it locally.
They promised to have the bloodwork results that day because I was worried sick about my fur baby. He was very sick and lethargic and I needed to know THAT day that’s why I made the appointment asap THAT day to get quick results.
The vet promised results before they left THAT day and he asked me if I wanted to hang around or leave and they would call me. THAT day. So i left and expected a call to give me the results because I was so worried. It was getting close to 5 o’clock and I said well I better call them cause I don’t have any results yet. I had been waiting on them to call me and they never did so I called them and they told me the vet had already gone home that day so I asked them to please get someone to give me the results right then because I needed it right then, and they refused to do anything for me and told me I would just have to wait until the next day. So I called the next day to get the results, but they finally sent it to me and AND THEN out of nowhere they told me not to come back that they couldn’t help me anymore. I said why? And they would not tell me why they wouldn’t help my little sick dog get any further help or treatment.
His blood work was not good at all and I needed to know what to do and I was left hanging. I couldn’t believe how I was treated. I didn’t do anything to these people and they shut me out with a sick dog and horrible blood work
And they told me to go somewhere else and they couldn’t tell me why. Said they would email the results to my get in Jackson two hours away. I don’t understand what happened, but I feel like it needs to be known because I feel like it was wrong for them to do me like that. And I just started going there and I really liked that place and then this happened. I just couldn’t believe it but anyways, I’m still wondering why they told me not to bring my dog back for some reason. Very unprofessional. And cold hearted. I just moved to this area outside of Meridian. I’ve been to several vets and I chose this one because I liked the people better upfront at the desk. They were always kind to me and didn’t act rude or act like they hated their jobs, unlike some other vets. Where I used to live? I went to the same vet for 20 years and never had a problem and then I move here and still can’t find a good vet around that hasn’t been an issue. One of the other vets (not this one) in Meridian thought I was overreacting telling them my dog was sick and I kept bringing him in and they wouldn’t do anything for him. Made me think I was crazy or over reacting. They told me he was fine then I took him to Jackson vet and he had a Cushing’s disease test and it came back positive, so all along my dog was sick And I knew was because I know my own pets.
Anyways, just wanted to let this be known because it still bothers me to this day and I still can’t figure out why my dog was abandoned at this vet after his blood work…. unbelievable…

We found this pit bull at our construction site. She was extremely emaciated with a broken tail and yes that is her bone sticking out of her tail. We called all of the local animal holiness and they all said if they came and got her they would put her down. Now when I say this dog is the sweetest thing I have ever met I mean it. We took her to you guys and the care you gave her was amazing and the cost was 100% cheaper than I expected it to be. Just wanted to let you know that "Luna Naidi" is doing amazing and to thank you for helping us get her back to being healthy!!!

We took our dog there 4 times about 800 dollars worth and he's still the same. We'll be finding us another veteran. It's hard to see your pet in pain. They're nice people though. Nothing against Dr Carney.

Poplar Springs Animal Hospital has gone above and beyond. I work at U.S. Embassies abroad and I am in the habit of feeding a stray cat colony when I come home.
Managed to get my hands on two and went to Till-Newell only to be treated so unprofessionally that I will never use them again.
PSAH neutered, bathed and immunized. Carney and company also provided me with the appropriate vaccinations and paperwork to get these little guys adopted.

They understood that Kloe is much more than "just a cat". They turned a life threatening situation for Kloe into more days of bug hunting and butterfly chasing in no time.Well after their job was done and their responsibility over, they called just to ask how Kloe was doing. He's doing great thanks to Poplar Springs Animal Hospital.

This vet is very caring and helped save my pups life. He spent 3 days here & i got my puppy back and better. They answer all questions you may have and if you have any concerns they tell you to bring the animal to them to be seen. They never acted as if i was a burden or that i should already know some of the things i asked. They were very helpful. The vet & techs and ladies at the front were super nice too.
