I'm coming back to review years after I closed my account because this bank is still negatively affecting my credit. I had a student checking account there years ago and I physically went to the bank, spoke to a teller who told me I had no issues nor pending transactions and closed the account. I was told they'd send a check with any remaining balance. (I also sent a letter months later when I realized it was somehow still increasing a balance.) I GRADUATED and left the city, and somehow a transaction hits my account for less than $10 and not one but THREE NSF fees of $36 each. (And I've checked my statements; I had almost $10 left in the account which should definitely have covered that small fee even if I had made the purchase.) And then they didn't have an address for me ( because I HAD ALREADY CLOSED the account) so they charged the account another fee ($10) for returned mail. (By the way, the woman I emailed about it was OUT OF OFFICE and when she got back to me she said it's been too long so they can't dispute or research the transaction and she couldn't even SEE what started the NSF fees so all she could do was set up a payment plan. Not to mention she wasn't even working at this location at least according to her email signature so why didn't she just transfer me to someone at the right location I don't know.) And then the audacity to finally charge the account off and charge ANOTHER fee ($50) for it. (And did I forget to mention I had asked for overdraft protection to be removed from my account when I first opened it because I never wanted to be in this sort of situation anyway-- I wanted the card to just decline if I ever didn't have enough funds to cover a purchase.) I finally got tired of it affecting my credit -- not to mention job applications-- so I just paid it but that was in 2017 and it's 2024 now and it's STILL on my credit. I wish I had never even heard of Bankplus let alone darkened their doorstep. It's so close to the school that it seems like a good idea but it's really not y'all. I should've just kept an account in my hometown and saved myself this drama.

Just rushed in from work and I had to speak with Ms.Crown. She was a little tough on me, but it made me feel my money and identity was secure. No ones just walking in and fooling her. Big thanks

They do not have a very good client relations team and don't really know their own policies very well. I've had accounts with this bank for more than five years and recently have begun to doubt this bank is a very good place for my financial needs. I do hope they get it together before I move on to the Regions Bank around the corner that has written policies and much better customer service.

Really bad experience while closing account, especially when you moved out of state! Ridiculous overdraft fee!!!

I can't really complain about the bank itself other than it being in a really rough location I go there all the time but I always carry my gun just in case somebody wants to get wise, and even tho they are open to 7 in the drive threw I never go that way if the sun is anywhere near going down.
