The wait to be checked in and receive a vehicle was ridiculous. They didn't want to honor and same day reservations. Several patrons where turned away. I received a half washed car with stained seats and the oil change light was on. The tire sensors where faulty and I had to change my own flat because they tried charging me $135 even though I had coverage. Worst service ever.

Systemic issues plague your organization which may be simply resolved if your representatives were confident that they had the means/ authority to resolve simple concerns from your customer without creating undue hardship on your customers.

I had a terrible experience with the Avis at this location. I had one of the early morning flights out of Jackson, so I had to complete a before hour return on a Friday. Following the directions, I left the car in the return area and put the keys in the drop box. I called Avis the following Monday when the receipt still hadn't processed and they said that was because the location had never processed the return, which they proceeded to not do until the following day (Tuesday). They said it would take 5-7 business days for an updated receipt and expense reversals and were unable (despite asking multiple representatives) to provide any sort of written documentation that a case was in process.

This was the most horrible rental experience I've ever had with Avis and have booked for years through different companies I worked for.Here are the reasons for the low rating:1. Avis allowed me to prepay and book a reservation for 11:30 PM CT which is the time the counter closes. Five additional parties, along with me, on the plane that arrived at JAN that evening walked up to the counter as the representative quickly departed the counter when he saw us entering the line and went home leaving us stranded. We all had to make alternative plans which included an Uber expense and hotel stay since we were not able to pick up our rental vehicles.2. The next morning, we went back to the counter and Avis's representative told us there were no cars. Two people returned a vehicle and we waited about an hour for one to be cleaned.3. When we received our vehicle finally, the car was dirty inside. In addition, the service check engine light was on and service now light was on so we had no idea whether the vehicle would last throughout our weeklong rental.4. The vehicle had 53,000+ miles on it and the tires were bald. Obviously, the vehicle still has the original tires when purchased. This was unsafe for us to use but we had no other choice.5. When we returned our vehicle to the airport return line, we were approached by a representative who told us to leave the keys in the vehicle and they would return the vehicle for us and we would receive a receipt via email. The vehicle was never returned as we continued to receive text message alerts starting on the 3rd day after the return that we never returned the vehicle. We were then charged extra money and had to spend several hours on the telephone trying to resolve the issue.As you can see by our experience, it would be very hard for us to rent from Avis out of this airport (JAN) in the future without confirmation changes have been made to resolve issues like these.

This place never ever has cars; even if you have a reservation. The rentals generally aren't clean, and returning is really scary and unsafe due to poor lighting in the garage.

Is all about the vehicle. In many cases but this one got me to the point that I will limit my rentals from Avis, at least in Jackson Mississippi. Every warning light was on in this vehicle, had at least 4 reported malfunction issues lit up and then the side windows were tinted so dark that you could not see out of them at night, had to roll down the windows to see. Very unsafe!

The first car assigned to me had nearly bald front tires and was dirt on the inside and outside. The brakes squeaked when attempting to stop and the tires smelled like burned rubber when driving. I wiped the seats off with a white towel and the towel was nearly black when I finished. I returned the car 2 days later due to safety concerns with the tires. The replacement car was a little better. The tires were in good condition but the car clearly had not been vacuumed or the inside wiped down. The back part of the key was broken. The attendant was aware of this broken key but advised that although the back had come off the buttons still worked. I have pictures to prove the bad condition both cars where in. It is very unlikely that I will rent from Avis again unless it is the last option.

Avis - regardless of location - has been my last choice for car rentals for the last 6-8 months and did not climb the ladder this week. Had to wait almost 90 minutes in line with 25-30 more travelers on Presidents Day evening because there were no cars for us to take. I know I had a reservation and I assume most of the others did as well. It was not made clear why there were no cars, the staff was not bothered to act sympathetic at all, so it may be that this is a very normal occurrence for them. I have traveled roughly 30 weeks per year for the last 20 years and Avis/Budget has never been as bad as they’ve become in the last year.

Business travel: Totally dissatisfied! Waited curbside "2 hours" for a car rental (exposed to gas and exhaust fumes). Worst experience ever and several customers voiced how, "it's normal for this location to run out of cars!" Apparently, a reservation doesn't guarantee a car will be available. Extremely disappointed with the overall experience. I'd give zero stars if it was possible.You'll need to pack more than patience for a car rental here!

2 hour wait amidst ill managed chaos. Do not use Avis.I was sent back and forth between the indoor and outdoor booths, just trying to check in and sign the contract for the car I had reserved and pre paid. They said they were out of cars.I finally figure out where I need to be, only to wait at a closed "preferred" booth. Meanwhile other customers were given contracts at the indoor booth, then would come out and wait for their cars.We in line at the outdoor, preferred booth were told by employees they had to take care of those customers with contracts first before us. But while I'm waiting to get a contract, more people came out from inside. So we "preferred" customers we're essentially just pushed to the side and ignored while the queue and cars moved without us.Overall it took about 2 hours of standing in the line before I was given the keys to a car that had been sitting and waiting for me for the last hour.I feel that avis needs to change its rental process- don't let customers book cars if you have none available!And, while I realize this disaster was not the employees fault, i'm disgruntled that they didn't seem to communicate between the 2 booths, or have a good system of helping customers in the order they arrived.I've had increasingly worse experiences with Avis each time I use them. This was probably the last time.

So the experience overall was frustrating BUT the staff did everything they could to help. I was tired and worried about my long drive at night, the preferred booth employee was doing his best, and I am sorry to him for how frustrated I was with having to go back and forth, he was doing what he thought was right, and was incredibly patient. That said - it would be advantageous to do some more general training with all the staff on the system so there’s less hiccups. Ultimately I had a decent experience as they upgraded me for free due to the issues and I appreciated that. The reviews for this location are really harsh but the vehicle I got (and the ones I noticed) was in very good shape, and you have to remember that the staff of any location can only do so much with the resources they’re given. I’d rent from here again.
