Sometimes you have to search for that hidden gem, but this is for a good cause. They have both new and used items, also an area in the rear of the store outside that most people ignore/ don't know about. With a little imagination you can usually repurpose something or find good value in its gently used condition.

I live at a rental they own and rent through a third party, Rental Management LLC. I have lived here for years and Habitat is usually pretty good about not being shady. They take a long time to respond to calls for maintenance but the workers have always been nice. However, on 28 May 2021, (my birthday) I arrived home from a Shuckers game that was rained out to find all my smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector chirping. I called the emergency line. Nobody called me back within an hour as the line says they will. Carbon monoxide is DEADLY.I called somebody back the next day and was told they are having a hard time getting somebody to respond at the On Call service because it was Memorial Day weekend. That’s horrible business acumen, emergencies don’t care what time of day or week it is or if it’s a holiday.Wendy at Rental Management told me that was free to check the batteries myself and it wouldn’t void anything. I did so. It was just the batteries for the carbon monoxide detector but somehow that made the smoke alarms chirp too.Well, the tech FINALLY arrived another 24 hours later. At that point it was Sunday evening. He did not call me before arriving, as I have stated with Habitat and Rental Management to please do so, as I have PTSD and I’m not too keen on people showing up unannounced. He sat in his truck a few minutes, so I went outside to see who this was and what he wanted. After I found out he was the service tech, I explained it’s been 48 hours since the call was placed and I fixed the issue myself. I told him to come in if he wants but there is no issue anymore. He said ok and left.Habitat is implying I denied him entrance, because that’s what he wrote in his job report. They are charging me the $125 dollar service fee, even though they took days to respond to a possibly life threatening issue. Also, the technician they used was extremely unprofessional and lazy and also rude, as he stated in his work report that I “seemed a little off”.I have never refused anybody entrance to the house for repairs in all the years I’ve lived here. I’ve been extremely patient and understanding when they take 8 months to respond to a call for maintenance. I’ve been extremely understanding and patient with the fact this trailer has a recurring mold problem but they just send somebody to clean it and never address the actual issue. They just band aid the mold problem till the next time it needs cleaning.I don’t know if management has changed recently or if they are on hard times but trying to screw over a tenant who has been there for years and HAD a good rapport with you isn’t the way to do business. It’s been several weeks with no reply from Rental Management LLC or Habitat regarding the dispute.I hate that I have to do this but I will be contacting Tenant Law Lawyer on my next payday if this isn’t resolved by then.I never refused that man entrance, he was just lazy and mad he had to come back early from his vacation out of town WHEN HE WAS ON CALL! I will attach the technician’s work order as a picture so you can see where he called me “a little off”.

I periodically, for the last year, go into the Habitat for Humanity in Gulfport (roughly twice a month) hoping to find a wonderful addition to the house I'm remodeling. In my personal opinion the store is mostly over priced, and the older cashier is often rude & louder than necessary. Example of today..one of many.... I find an item maked for $1. I find an employee that works there and ask," is this the price?" He said "yes." So .. I grab 2 and take them to the register. Then the cashier says, " These are 8 dollars!" Overly louder than needed. I just let her know they are marked for $1 and she should have someone change the prices. Kindly, I say that's a bit much for what I want to spend. I don't want them. I then proceed to look at other things. I didn't find anything in my budget for the appropriate items that I'd like for my house. Minding my own business..she then comes over to me and says," they are maked at the register as $8."
