The staff at our local banks are great but the company is terrible, my account has been hacked numerous times and this last time they gave me my money back they took it away again because they could not reach me on vacation, so I was a -280 starting the next month getting my disability check. Since then I have had problems trying to get straight, anyone on disability or a fixed income do not use this bank, you will get screwed over before it is all said and done.

I paid a higher interest rate to deal with a "name" bank. The sales people are great to deal with. Once the deal is closed though, you are just a number to the folks in Tupelo. A couple years ago I transposed digits through my Wells Fargo bill pay and Bancorp South held payments in suspense, rather than cover the first months payment. They called me at an old number and sent a notice to an old address. (my fault for not updating the information. Two months and 9 days later, I finally received the notice, paid the deficiency immediately and asked for forgiveness. In 9 years of on time payment, you would think they would excuse the mistake. No. They marked the deficiency on my credit report and it has haunted me ever since - causing me to pay a higher interest rate on another mortgage, years later. Thanks, Bancorp South!
