This rescue is AMAZING and goes the extra mile to save all pets!! Even when the animal is not in their possession (ie., At a local inpound), they network like crazy to find adopters or fosters!

Don’t work through this “rescue” organization. They seem sweet and competent when you start working with them (when you are helping take an animal off their hands) but as soon as you need their help with anything they turn on you. They give you false information about the animals they are supposedly trying to help, promise to support you with services like a trainer (who is really nothing more than someone who gives you information you can find on the internet) and become hostile when you push back on them. The head of organization is not fit to handle the responsibility this kind of work entails. I can’t overstate the terrible experience we had with this group. DO NOT go through them. There are plenty of legitimate organizations around who actually do their part to help these animals. I won’t even get into the injury that occurred to my fiancé that resulted from them not taking the animal back when it was not a good fit, or how they manipulated things when an adoption failed to basically force us to adopt the animal we helped them rescue. (Edit: we are actually still just fosters, but we were confused due to this organizations failure to communicate with us properly.)STEER CLEAR. Awful organization.Update: The dog we are working on trying to get adopted has someone interested - we messaged Furever Homes yesterday and they didn’t bother responding. They did, however, take the time to read this review today and send us a message stating (incorrectly) that this review is slanderous, and they will not communicate with us further per their legal counsel. Not a big loss, since they weren’t responding to us anyway. Her legal counsel should know that reviews that are not false or are expressing opinions are not considered slander.

We wanted to open our home to adopt a pet. We found out through the process that because our current dog was not neutered, we were not edible to adopt. The pup we wanted to give a home to was spayed so the status of our dog shouldn't prevent a dog from being adopted. Emails were unanswered when trying to discuss this further and at least find out why this would be an obstacle. Very very disappointed. We were really looking forward to adopting a pet as we have more than enough cuddles to share.

We have now been fostering for a year for this org, and had 4 cats. Very rewarding. Very responsive to me when I have questions or concerns about animal. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye when the fosters get adopted. They screen applicants carefully so makes me more comfortable that the fosters we grow to love will go to good homes. These rescues need help and this was a way our family felt like we could make at least a small difference in the local animal rescue community. (Not my real name used)

I have fostered for this Rescue for 5+ years. I have fostered for 2 other local rescues, as well as been employed by one of those. In my experience, FEHR has been diligent with the care of every foster that I have had, which has been over a dozen. They take care to review and vet applicants to ensure each pet is going to a safe new forever home. Not everyone is happy with the screening process and then chose to post negative reviews on places, which is inappropriate. ?

Won't give me a dog because I live in a apartment. I guess putting them down is a better option in their opinion..

Unlike a previous reviewer, I know the lengths this organization goes to to protect & save unwanted animals. Maybe he should read an entire post & realize the information comes from local impounds & FEHR is trying to prevent euthanasia.

This rescue is one of the only ones that actually networks animals in need of rescue from area shelters that are in danger of being euthanized due to space (NOTE: Furever Home does NOT have custody of these animals! They are trying to find fosters in order to get them safe and in their care or in the care of another local rescue). They truly care about the animals and take in complex medical cases that other rescues turn down due to cost etc. Some of the other reviewers don't take the time to read the posts and/or just aren't grasping the info posted that clearly states they are trying to share info about the animals in order to save them.

Rescues local. Pulls from high hill situation WHEN they have fosters to cover them. Furever home rescue DOES NOT KILL THE ANIMAL’S.

Really nice people who foster a lot of their dogs until they get adopted. It takes a special person to love a dog that much to make sure it goes to the right forever home.

DO NOT work with this rescue. They hold the desirable cats and dogs like a power play. It's really terrible. In talking with the fosters, they DO NOT treat the fosters well either. Very unorganized and unprofessional!

Very simple application process that was straight forward. Very easy to work with and the volunteers and fosters are amazing as well. Communication efforts and flexibility with their scheduling was great!

Love that they rescue dogs locally and not tag all these dogs dogs from the south. Rescuing right in our own backyard.
