The alleged bar manager threaten to have me arrested at my own family’s wedding. They informed my wife that I had a tab opened in my name though I hadn’t given any of my info. When questioned about it the bar manger escalated the issue then threatened to call the cops. I told to go ahead because I had not done anything other then question them. They did not and magically there was no more tab. Now go back almost 3 years now to my own wedding held there. The event manager Tyler attempted to keep a full untapped keg for the event center to resell. He sat there and refused to give us our money back until he was forced to either tap the keg and run it dry or refund us. Once again magically the money came back. They do a lot of questionable charges and none of there staff were following the governors guidelines of mask wearing. They sat there had child behind the bar past midnight cleaning windows. The center itself is great but the staff needs some work.

Raised price three times. Originally told me $96 on the phone. My wife and I arrived and where told the total was 185. It was 11 o’clock at night nowhere else to go had to stay.

Our recommendation’s if having a wedding there.
Make sure to have a gift/card attendant in a well viewed area. Cards and gifts stolen throughout the evening and no follow through, empathy or apologies from event center. (They did now put in cameras. Make sure they are operating)
Review your contract to make sure you are not over charged for beverages/beer served/not served.
Make sure your guests are aware of all complimentary beverages from the bar. Bartenders do not promote or acknowledge them to your guests. This was experienced personally and by many family members and guests.
Make sure that your guests are charged consistently and getting credit for what the drink tickets are actually worth. They told some guests the tickets value was $3.00. Charging an additional $3 to $6 more for a drink. We paid $5.00 a ticket. Ticket value states on them $5 to $7 value.
Employees family members are not invited guests with their children and stay through the entire event??
Make sure your guests are safe we had an unfortunate incident and security was questionable at the hands of those locking up.
There were many pieces to the contract not met that were spoken, broken doors, areas told would be in good repair, not without additional stress and communication on our part. Not as promised by event center manager at all.

Wgtn needs the event center. We are certain there are good staff there. When we posted “we need your help” (for info on stolen cards and gifts) on their site one manager posted a laughing emoji. Also posted negative comments of the couple on FB then removed. Private messages sent to family of couple. Unprofessional and inappropriate.
We also had as parents of the bride had no suite?? I personally confirmed it 2x.
What was to be a most special, blessing and celebration of love, still brings sadness. Other couples reached out privately to let us know of their poor/some of the same experiences’as well. Many of the same, but never reported. Wgtn Event Center~ who ever manages your center and managers… Wgtn deserves better, as did our adult children. The ceremony still special and beautiful but some clouds over some of our joy. Beautiful place and much needed. It took awhile to do this but it needs to be shared so it does not happen to anyone else. Thank you

You might not expect it in a smaller community this far out in a rural area, but the Event Center is a very nice venue with lots of great spaces for events of many sizes or types. We attended a small conference (about 20 people) so we were set up in a smaller space with AV equipment. The room was nice and fairly well temperature controlled. I believe the event center provided the refreshments we were served as well, and everything was good except for some reason the hot water for tea in the dispenser came out brownish/orange. ? The bathrooms were clean and modern. The room next door to us was set up for a larger group and looked very nice as well. A great event location for southwest MN!
