Enlightened Equipment makes unbelievable products. Everything I’ve ever purchased from them has been perfectly dialed in. Great place to work also!

Canadian Buyers Beware when I first phoned I was told by customer service that they would have all the appropriate paper work when my quilt was sent to Canada. When it arrived there was $111.21 in brokerage fees as they did not send the proper paper work. Finally after 3 days, 28 e-mails between FedEx/Enlightened Equipment and 9 phone calls with FedEx it has been straightened out Enlightened Equipment has not returned my last 4 phone messages and continued to send FedEx the wrong form. FedEx was extremely helpful I have now wasted at least 3 hours dealing with this as they did not provide the proper paper work to begin with I am very disappointed and asked for a manager to contact me - this request has gone unanswered. I will not be recommending this company to anyone based on the frustration they provided me

Their “ready to ship” items are not shipped out in a timely manner. Customer service would rather argue than make anything right. With so many other options out there it’s not hard to completely write off this company. Never again.

Attempted to order Apex custom jacket. Wanted them to add elbow patches...'nope'! I understand a busy business needs parameters, but they seem to have forgotten who made them the business they are today! It's people like me and they lost a customer today. Their in stock items are made in China and I guess disregarding customer loyalty is the next step backwards.

Echoing what others here have said:(1) Enlightened Equipment products do not perform as advertised.(2) When there are problems, Enlightened Equipment does not stand behind their product.I bought a quilt from them where half the baffles seemed to be half-empty. After being gaslit by the company that I just needed to 'distribute the down', and after several freezing nights without enough insulation, I told them the quilt wasn't performing like it should, providing photos of the empty baffles to show the problem (note full baffles on rt side of quilt, vs. half-empty baffles on lt side).Their response was not to address the issue, but to explain why it was actually *OK* that the quilt didn't have enough down in it to do its job. When I explained to them that this actually didn't meet their obligations as a business, they stopped responding to emails. My recommendation? Buy from someone else. Any company is great when things go well, but you see a business's true colours when a customer has a problem. And with Enlightened Equipment, after the sale happens, you're on your own.

I ordered a Torrid APEX vest, Visp rain mittens, and a Visp rain jacket. Since they were custom orders, they took a long time, but the website time frame was accurate so I knew what to expect. I am a solo canoeist trying to lighten my load as I age and the items were all very light and well made. I have not had a chance to use the rain coat yet, but I took the vest and mittens on a winter trip recently and loved them both. And they have shaved a full pound off my base weight.

I have three EE quilts (Revelation, Enigma, Accomplice) and other items (pad covers, bug bivy, etc.). I was incredibly disappointed with their complete unwillingness to stand behind their product when I finally needed to contact them about a problem with the Enigma. When I contacted them about a snap that had torn out on my Engima 0F they took over a week to tell me that it would be a minimum $60 to have them repair it. They automatically assumed I had misused the quilt, causing the damage - no consideration that there could have been a sewing mistake or materials issue. I had only just discovered the second snap on the Enigma (only a single snap on my other two quilts), used the snap two nights, then discovered down leaking and the stitching around the snap torn. I had it repaired locally (excellent work) for far less, since I wasn't worried about voiding the non-existent warranty getting it repaired somewhere else. EE is totally out of step with 'cottage' outdoor manufacturers, my experience with other similar size companies is that they have bent over backwards to make things right. EE is the opposite - it's your fault from the start, they aren't interested in considering anything differently and the only solution is to pay for an overpriced repair job. Very slow customer service response times to add insult to their misguided approach. I will spend my money at companies like ZPacks, MLD and Feathered Friends for other quilts and accessories I am looking to buy.

I love my enigma from EE, it seems to be very high quality and has kept me warm for quite a few nights now! The sidekicks I purchased haven’t been used yet, but as winter approaches, I know they’ll keep my feet nice and toasty in the cold Canadian winters. Thanks for the great products EE

Buyer Beware!! There are limited warranty and guarantee options with this company. I purchased a quilt from them, and woke up at 3:35 AM at the base of the hardest 14er in Colorado with feathers all over my tent from a hole in my quilt. I contacted the company and it sounds like they will not be giving me a refund on the purchase. I used this thing twice and took great care of it. The guy on the phone that talked to me argued with me and told me how long his quilt had lasted and that it was the thinnest material they had. This quilt was not durable enough for my purposes, and I had not way of knowing that until I tried to use it. The guy on the phone also said that most cottage brands have similar return policies. I'm sorry, but I will never once ever be purchasing another piece of outdoor gear from a small company that thinks it can increase it's profitability by making you stuck with a product you don't like. That's ridiculous. Other small brands have people like Enlightened Equipment to blame. I spent $370 bucks on this thing and will in all honesty probably be throwing it in the garbage after one month. I am not a rich man to say the least, and I have taken over a hundred hikers on their first high altitude experience for many years on a shoestring budget and a lil love. It's super depressing that the first time I get a chance to have something nicer after I more than earned it, it doesn't work out. There's no way I would pay them and wait for a repair after such poor performance of a product.

I called EE on a Friday with a last minute request for a quilt before I went to RMNP in June and spoke with Jenna in CS and she was extremely helpful! I owe it all to her! She said she would talk to the shipping dept. to make sure my quilt would send out Monday morning so I would have my quilt in time for my trip! Over the weekend they had already created the label and had the package waiting and I ended up having the quilt one day earlier than expected! As far as the product goes it is the best thing I have ever purchased in the backpacking world! Absolutely amazing service all the way around! Thank you Jenna!
