I brought my car in because it was leaking coolant pretty quickly. I needed a new coolant tank and hose. Right of the bat, Mike tried to charge me for two hoses, even though I had one of them replaced less than a year ago. I asked if he could top my freon off, and he decided to conduct other testing with dye to determine where a leak was, an extra charge of course, for what I'm not sure, I was not aware of there was even a leak before that.
The air conditioning already worked about 95% of the time prior to taking it in, and then after I got it out of the shop it did not work at all. The coolant was also at the lowest level and needed filling even though they charged me full price for filling it. When paying, the gentlemen who checked me out at the counter, first said the bill did not go through, then 5 seconds later he said it went through. At least he was a nice guy and drove me back to the farm earlier. I was in the busy time of planting at the farm and took on a second job as well. So I didn't have much of any time to remedy the situation immediately. I called and left a message about my problems with the air conditioner not working at all, and the low coolant. I never heard back from them.
More recently when I looked at my billing statement, there was no record of a transaction to Smith Automotive, but I delayed calling them because I was in the process of moving. I called them to let them know the billing did not go through, and told him about the AC not working at all, and asked if I didn't have to pay for the freon and diagnostics because the AC did not work at all. His response was rude, and he accused me of trying to take advantage of the company, when in reality he is projecting. The bill to fix the coolant leak and air conditioner work was over 700 dollars. I at least had the decency to call back to make sure my bill was paid. The man I spoke with does not have good customer service skills and spoke very rudely and angrily at me. I will never use Smith Automotive Company and Repair again, because of him accusing me of trying to scam them, even though I was trying to pay them for there services.. They are very disorganized here, your voice/phone messages will go to a junk file and never be checked as well. I'm sure they will be more friendly anywhere else.

Our exhaust pipe broke apart while we were on the way to South Dakota. We called 5 shops in Sioux Falls but no one could get us in. Smiths were in the next town on our travels, they got us in right away. They got us fixed up and back to our vacation.

Traveling through on vacation and had brake problems, Smith Auto was able to get our vehicle in without hesitation and took very good care of us so we could get back on the road. It's the type of shop I wish we had in our hometown.
