Had to leave a rave review about the *ABOVE and BEYOND* customer service I received at Dreamers Vault South St. Paul today. I called with a very specific/niche question about various print editions of a game and the very kind and extremely resourceful assistant manager took the time to research the answer with me. The fact that she was able to find the answer, and that the store had the edition I was looking for in stock were both just cherries-on-top of the experience, but even if neither had been the case, I was really impressed with her thoroughness and the time she took to help me. Absolutely made my day! Thank you!

EDIT/UPDATE: I see the response from the owner and it is not true that I stormed out in 5 seconds and I was told by the clerk that it was required when at first I questioned it. The exact statement from the clerk was 'Names are required for those using credit card payments'.Seriously, what does this 'OWNER' think they are accomplishing?Visited the store the other day, was ready to purchase a couple comics. Upon checkout I was asked for my first name so they can associate the order with it. I said what? The guy proceeded to say for anyone using a credit card the system requires the first name. I hesitated for a second, then gave my name, but then proceeded to walk out the store without making the purchase due to the STUPID BUSINESS DECISION the owner has implemented! Why in heck is the 'OWNER' collecting the first name, honestly I don't care much about it, but it's the FACT that I have never had to provide my name there previously making credit card purchases and NOR have I EVER BEEN ASKED for my first name making a purchase at any Retail, Restaurant establishment, EVER!What are you thinking? It's a LAME BUSINESS practice and all because your associate asked that, you lost a sale and a customer ongoing. I will go back to 'Source Comics' from now on due to you having a stupid and unnecessary business practice!

Had a great customer service today. The person who assisted me was very knowledgeable and gave me recommendations based on what I was looking for and was able to answer all my questions. They had a really decent Arkham Horror Card game selection. I will definitely be returning and maybe attending one of the game nights they host!

I want to start by saying this review isn't about the staff at all. This review is completely on the owner. Sadly I've seen criticism and instead of addressing it he attacks the customer. My review on their website I gave examples of 200%+ marked up cards 100% marked up items and he attacked me. Followed up by saying if the market switches he will switch the prices. We'll instead of getting upset fix it like you said you would. I can totally understand a markup but when a 7 dollar card is marked for 25.. I looked back at all the one star ratings and he had to comment and try to defend himself, which attacked the customer. They all had examples where he could have just fixed it. Yet he doesn't. Very tragic for the staff. In my post I even said 1/2 of the items were reasonable but I wouldn't support 200% mark up and that wasn't cool.He acted like a high schooler and attacked me for wanting the cheapest prices. Then also had to comment I wasn't in his data base so my post was made up. Well sir that is because your prices were so marked up, I didn't support it and left without making a purchase. Look in the mirror. You deserve 50 0 star ratings. Not your staff you sir.

I brought in my 7 year old son for some Pokémon cards. We found a good selection of sealed packs, boxes, and tins but spent the most time searching the bulk box for single cards. All the employees were patient and very kind to me and my child. We had a great experience and will return.

As far as pokemon, extremely over priced singles. 7 dollar charmander promo for, 22 dollars!!! 1/2 were evenly priced I will say. 151 release week and they are the problem. marked all those up far above msrp so not a cool shop in my eyes.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Shop is clean and well organized. Prices on trading card decks/boosters/boxes are very competitive, but the shop is lacking on the single card purchases as the collection on hand is very sparce. Many tables with moving space for trading card competitions. I almost forgot to mention that the board game selection is really good and eclectic.

A new game, Lorcana, was recently released last week. The game company designer (Ravensburger) decided to launch the game only to Local Game Stores for the initial release with the intention of Local Game Stores building a community for the game. Big Box Stores will be getting product in September. Ravensburger released recommended MSRP pricing for the game. For example MSRP Starter Kits are $16.99, Boxes of Packs are $143, and Trove Boxes are $49.99. I am deeply disappointed to find the pricing Dreamers Vault is over double the MSRP for all of these items. This pricing is both predatory and greedy. Other stores in the area such as Source, Red 6, and Outpost 2000 have all sold their product at the MSRP pricing to help build a community for the new game. I am sad to see such short-sighted business tactics from a store I have enjoyed going to in the past.On a positive note, I would add that their store is always clean, and their staff is always great to work with. Their website is great and they do a good job at managing regular events.
