Stopped by to find a tool for installing my sons bike chain. The store owner wouldn’t allow us to buy the $50 quality bike tool he sells. Instead he borrowed us his own tool and just asked that we return it. what a nice guy! He even offered to pick my sons bike up from our house, so he could put it on for us (I don’t own a big enough car to fit a bike) You don’t find that kind of customer service often!!!! Will be going back here for anything bike related ?

10/10, would recommend. Excellent service, communication, and explanation of work completed with tips on future maintenance. Mark was kind and helpful. It's wonderful to have a bike shop in St. Peter.

My husband and I had a babysitter and were ready for our date day. We were about to hit the trail and my husband's chain snapped. Called the smallest cog and they said they could help. Brought the bike in and in 15 minutes it was fixed and we were able to hit the trail. Super helpful friendly serivice. We got a new chain, the repair, and a bike lock for $50. Highly recommend!

I had recently bought a used bike that needed a tune up. I brought the bike to Mark and they did an excellent job! They have been super helpful and helped me with getting the gear for a proper fit. They have earned themselves a loyal customer and I would recommend his shop to anyone.

I had a few minor issues with my bike that could have become major ones. The owner was very responsive and was able to get my bike in for a quick look. He went through several things, found several instances of sloppy work by another shop I shall not name, and corrected it all. That he did it quickly and fairly priced is nice. He also shared some knowledge with me about further preventive measures I can take, should my issues return or persist. He's got a new customer with tuneups and repairs. I recommend.Add/edit: I'll add that Mark is highly transparent about the work he does and has made me smarter about bikes. I've been able to get one person there and will continue to refer others.

Mark is a versatile mechanic that works to understand and meet the needs of each rider. He's also thoughtful and strategic about advancing the role bikes, biking and cyclists have in making our world a better place. Great community bike shop with quality service at a fair price.

This bike shop is our new favorite! Their skilled mechanic squeezed my bike fix in less than 24 hours even though he was booked out for 2 weeks. My bike is in better condition than ever. Trust worthy. Absolutely reasonable pricing. Also fixed the previous poor jobs that Lowertown bike shop did. As long as we live in St Paul ,we will always be coming back here for our bike care. Thank you Smallest Cog Bicycle Shop!

Brought my 2014 Trek Domane 4.3 to Mark for an overhaul a few weeks ago - I needed a new rear wheel and a derailleur hanger replaced, among some other things. More than just a quick tune-up, let's put it that way! Mark was super about communicating, letting me know what he'd found, and making recommendations for parts that were in line with what my expectations were - both in terms of performance and cost.I had my bike back about a week after I dropped it off. I've put about 100 miles on it since getting it back four days ago and I can honestly say that in the four years I've owned it, this bike has never felt better or rode more nicely than it does now.And (at least for me!), he's just across the street to boot. If you're downtown (or even if you're not) and you value great work at a fair price in your bike shop, give Smallest Cog a look. I think you'll be super happy with the results. I know I am!

Brought my bike in for a check up after moving. Mark took a quick look at my bike, adjusted the derailleur, replaced a missing part, and replaced my front brake pads, all while making friendly conversation.Great & quick service, friendly owner, reasonable prices . All in all a fantastic neighborhood bike shop.

I was randomly biking through downtown St. Paul when I noticed the shop. My kickstand had come loose and I was without a portable tool. I stopped by and Mark was immediately friendly and welcoming. He tightened my kickstand and we started chatting. He really knows his stuff and is extremely friendly. I always go out of my way to support local business and will definitely be back for all bike repairs and parts orders. He also stocks some good bikes. Check out the shop and keep your money local! It's good for STP and good for your karma

Knowledgeable and personal service, and interesting and friendly owners; great addition to downtown Saint Paul. Conveniently located near the downtown Lund's, across the street from Sawatdee.
