Best Bookstore in town. Incredible selection for very reasonable prices. Tom and the staff may at times be a bit on the gruff side, but I find that is fairly typical for used book shop owners. Just don't be a jerk and you will be able to nestle into this bibliophile's haven and community fairly easily. Tom and Cathy are active in acquiring new stock, I have been coming in for nearly 40 years, and can always find something new, needed or fascinating. A true Twin Cities gem. One of the few legacy hold-outs from the golden ages of Twin Cites used book stores.

Really surprised by the somewhat mixed reviews. This is the kind of gem you hope to find when you visit a new city for the first time. Lots of antique books as well as just a good selection in all topic areas What makes this place stand out though is the number of old pulp novels and magazines that's one of the best I've seen They also have an outstanding comic book selection that has a lot of depth. Lots of back issues though you have to jump through some hoops to go through them Prices seemed more than reasonable for every book I picked up! This is a place I would spend hours in if I had the time A grand discovery of you love books!

Dont let this unassuming store front fool you. This is one of the best comic book stores I have been to. There are literally 1000's of comics. Not only are there comics but shelves of other cool books, too. Check it out. You'll be glad you did!

The amount of books and comics was impressive. Some of the areas are a little small and hard to sort through but all in all a neat store to check out!

If you still read, and without a back-lit, plugged in screen attached to the words, then wonderful! It follows that you can probably also formulate a complete concept and even communicate it to others without name-calling or making megalomaniacal judgments about the other person's "personality," which is also a positive thing... anyway, this place is my favorite bookstore in Minneapolis. They have books, loads of them, and not too expensive. I can spend hours in their bargain basement section, and find really fantastic titles, for less than 3 bucks. Knowledge is power, and the information online is not organized into any valid or coherent system to be considered actual Knowledge, so, go to Midway and read books! Thanks!

I just ordered a rather lovely edition of the 'Art of War' from them, and not only was it in impeccable condition, but the care they took in packing it highlighted their love of the medium.

A real non-chain old-school (i.e., you won't find only bestsellers that were read once and appropriately discarded) used book store. Well organized by subject and author over three floors (bargains in the basement are not junk but all $2.50). I think the prices are quite modest, especially compared to some used bookstore chains. One important note: They do not open until 11 am, not 10 am as on Yelp. They do have a parking lot in the back: Going north on Snelling from 94, pass the light at University and turn into the alley just before the liquor store. Regarding selling books, remember used bookstores have a very (italicize that) narrow profit margin and will know what they are able to sell...

Ordered a moderately esoteric book via a well-known third party seller but listed by Midway Used & Rare books. Within minutes of placing the order I received an email advising me the shipping label had been created. I received the book in about three days and was thrilled by how quickly it arrived and the excellent protective packaging Midway used. Highly recommend for this means of commerce!!!

Not organized and too cramped. Due to their technical difficulties, they may not take Apple or other wallet pay. I rarely use cash or carry cards. So if no electronic payment available, I tend to walk out. Just no longer worth a visit anymore.

Stuffy and overstocked, as any really good bookstore should be. Lovely place, we will definitely return!

Great paperback selection on second floor; organized alphabetically for both hardcover literature (loops around the store walls) and "paperback literature" (rows grouped together). Because all literature is organized together, it might be hard to explore within a particular genre (e.g. asian american literature) or time period to find new authors, but if you already know what you're looking for, you can easily check by moving along the shelves alphabetically. Fantastic prices (approx $5 each for the paperbacks I picked up; paperbacks are sold for 1/2 off cover price)

Old school used book store. Has three levels, basement, main and upstairs. Loads of comics and sci-fi/fantasy. Decent selection of collectibles as well at decent prices.
