“Friendly and well stocked neighborhood market. The prices can be a bit higher than big supermarkets but it's honestly so much easier to pop in and quickly grab what you need than at bigger stores.”
“I love this small reclaim store offering groceries at deep discounts. There is a small freezer and refrigerator section as well as canned goods, household items,snacks,etc. They also have their regular priced We are Nut selection of bagged nuts and candy. Seasonal decor for sale too. Try it you will like it. Very clean store and great staff too. You will find great products at great prices.”

“Wonderful tamales! And many different salsas. We ordered the tamales ahead and picked them up for a birthday party. They were a hit with meat eaters and non- and the 3 salsas we chose were varied and interesting. People were helpful and friendly. I look forward to returning and ordering from the lunch counter. Easy to find, and easy parking.”
“Grocery store is well maintained and upkeep is very good. Store has spices and other food items in stock, and great selection of meats & fruits. Prices are definitely a couple cents higher than other Asian supermarkets, but you sorta pay that price if you wanna go shop somewhere with consistent fresh and clean groceries compared to Sun Foods or other markets. Sometimes the owners give out free bananas toward the entrance if they know bananas are gonna go bad. Deli is usually pretty consistent and decent—only issue I’ve noticed so far are the egg rolls are lacking in flavor big time and always has noodles as the filler instead of more meat.”

“Excellent selection of hard to find produce and incredibly reasonable prices. Grocery items are a bit limited, but perfectly sufficient for most Hmong cooking. I know often Muslims (my family included) go to Asian markets to look for halal items from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, etc. There isn't too much of that here aside from some instant noodles and condiment sauces. That being said, it's worth going just for the fruits and veggies. I went wearing a traditional thobe, and sometimes that can cause store employees and shoppers to give rude glares, but that wasn't the case here. Staff was respectable and shoppers were friendly. I would recommend this store to Muslims, as Hmong people use a lot of the same fresh produce we use for Desi, Arabic, African, and SE Asian food.”

“I was a little apprehensive based on some of the not so great reviews, but I found the store to be very clean, they have an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables, and I found pleasant surprises every time I turned around. The staff were very nice, and absolute bonus points for having an amazing deli. This is definitely my new go to for produce and everything Asian.”
“Quality everywhere uou turn. Just So expensive! I know COG has gone up everywhere but really? I have seen the exact item in other stores selling an average of a $1 to $2 more at Kowalski's. Especially fresh items. I.e. Boarshead meats sold all over $1 to $2 a pound more!! Life is hard.”

“This is an adorable international grocery store where the lamplighter used to be. It has everything from fresh produce to cookware. There prices seem reasonable and they are constantly getting new items in. The staff here was super friendly as well.”
“I like this grocery store. It's got apartments above the store which is so cool. There's plenty of parking. Inside has the average products and produce any grocery store would have. I had to pay for plastic bags when checking out or at least it asked how many bags I would be paying for so I'm assuming that's what it was referring to.”

I've been coming to this store since 2012, only disappointment is the occasionally sold out hot fresh food but I'm sure it's just because others got to it before me.”

“I known these guys for years and they run such a great store. They’re so accommodating and friendly. It makes sense why they call themselves friendly grocery; because that’s exactly what they are…friendly. Their friendly kind not to mention I have really great prices. If you’re ever in Frogtown, I will definitely stop by this bodega. I love them so much more than store across the street.”
“The marketplace is a hidden gem in St. Paul. There are plenty of vendors to get food and the Hmong sausage is definitely worth trying since it's delicious. There is also clothing and produce for sale. If I lived in the area, I would visit more often.”

The family that works here and runs the store is like a cohesive unit of friendly neighbors.I even got a solid recommendation on a good mechanic.On a random holiday I got a free mini bottle of booze.Another time I had an urgent need for a small bag of charcoal. They had me covered.This is a corner store of small successes that come through with honesty and hard work.The owners are caring, sincere people who add bucket loads of warmth and generosity to the community.”
