I moved out of the state a year ago but having recently had some negative vet experiences, the wonderful staff at Como Park popped into my head. This was my go to emergency vet for years. They saw my roommates and I through dog, cat, and lizard emergencies. The most notable experience was the night my dog, Rose, died in November 2018. She was 4 years old and collapsed in our kitchen with no warning. We rushed her to Como but I know now that it was too late. Even though there was a part of me that knew there was nothing that could be done, they took her from my arms and did everything they could, continuing CPR until the vet spoke to me and got my verbal permission to stop lifesaving measures. The staff was incredibly respectful and empathetic, allowing me time and space to mourn and not rushing me out the door. They handled her body and cremation with the utmost respect. I would highly recommend them to anyone, especially during times of stress.

I was very pleased with their services with my cat. They were quick and efficient. The Vet took his time to reassure us after her exam that she could come home with us.

I brought my dog in for a broken leg on a Saturday morning and they were able to treat it. I brought her in for three more Fridays for cast changes -- had no trouble getting an appointment or anything. The fourth week, they told me there were no more appointments available that week and I would have to wait 'til the following Thursday. After waiting so long my dog got a horrible pressure sore. When I mentioned the whole reason she'd gotten the sore was having to wait for an appointment, they were rude and asked me why I didn't just go to my regular vet. Dr. Casey later said they never have extra appointments for things like cast changes during the week asked why I didn't just bring the dog into urgent care. First, I didn't know I could do that, and second, I didn't realize anything was "urgent" about her situation until they discovered the sore. Every week, the cast change cost me a totally different amount, which was odd. They started talking about putting a plate ($3,000-$5,000) in my dog's arm/leg after only a few weeks because it was not healing at all. Later they insisted she not only get the plate surgery but said she needed surgery on an awful pressure sore that developed after waiting two weeks to change the cast (because there were no appointments). The next week, they suggested amputation! I sent my dog's x-rays to two other vets and they said we should just give it time and that plates weren't always effective anyway. After the amputation talk, I took the dog to South St. Paul Animal Hospital and they wanted to wait on the pressure sore and the broken leg/arm. The sore went away on its own after a couple weeks and we are still waiting on the leg healing, but things look good. And they don't charge for a cast change! I have no idea why they were so impatient at Como Park or why they wanted to do an expensive surgery so soon. I don't want to assume they're after people's money, but I do wonder. I feel bad for people who go there and don't know enough to seek a second opinion.

I'm a past customer, 80's & 90's. At that time the vets here were excellent. I only stopped going here after the owners wife told me off for doing something I had gotten permission to do, after being a customer for over 5 years and spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars there.

We are visiting here and our dog became I'll. From the moment I phoned to ensure we could be seen today to checkout time the service was over the top fantastic! Thank you Dr Casey and Vet tech Kelly for taking excellent care of our dog (and us) for being forthright with all details and communicative and reassuring about necessary tests and treatment procedures. We were in the best of hands! Our dog is now resting peacefully and on the way to mending rapidly. By the way your new facility in Roseville is easy to reach, even during rush hour!

We had to bring my dog in due to a bowel obstruction. She's eaten things before, but usually can puke or p*** it out. This time, she'd become dehydrated and really just wasn't acting the way she has in the past when eating random objects (not a common occurrence, but has happened maybe once/year). We called and they told us the approximate wait, took our information and provided other places to call in an attempt to find a shorter wait. We ended up choosing them based on various websites that said they were on the less expensive end of emergency veterinary care. The wait was exactly what we were told it'd be. They did take in some more urgent cases faster than us, but since my dog was stable (per my vet student sister, if she's upright, walking, etc she's considered stable) that's expected. Just as a human ER will take a heart attack in ahead of a broken arm. My dad brought her in and said the customer service was great. She was kept overnight and the decision was made to have the surgery. Sure, it's expensive, but that's expected. They were very clear in explanations provided on why they chose the care they did and the aftercare instructions answered any questions we may have had, they even included a compliment. While I hope we never see them again (we already have a regular vet office closer to home), if we do need emergency vet care, we will choose them again!

I don't recommend this hospital very much. Their emergency department is rubbish. You can't even get in after waiting for 8 hours. There are queue-jumpers in the middle, not particularly concerned about pets, very disappointed!

Worst customer service I've experienced at a vet clinic, ever. I was put on a wait list to get our pup in for vaccines and told it was a few weeks out and they would call. When I called to check in to see when I could get in for an appointment, the very rude woman who took my call said they were three MONTHS out. She then proceeded to tell me she was "too busy" to check a list of over 300 names to find my place. Seriously?! First, rude. Never tell a customer you're too busy for them. Second, obviously awful admin skills that you don't have a simple alphabetized spreadsheet for your wait list. Office 101. We will never go here.

Como is not our normal vet, but only because of location. It is the ONLY place I will bring our cats for after hours care. The entire staff is caring and professional, and Dr. Casey and Rebecca have been especially awesome. I really can't recommend them enough.

Do not bring your pet here. They're snobby. They say they don't have anything for three weeks. So your purchase is going to die because there's nowhere else in the area that takes Bert's. Birds. They suck

Today unfortunately we had to say good bye to our best furry friend today. Our dog Jojo, the staff was wonderful letting us take our time with saying goodbye and giving us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. When we noticed something was wrong with our dog we had to call multiple locations until we reached Como Park Animal Hospital. I strongly encourage you to reach out to them for your family's needs.

Called to have them transfer my moms meds from Walgreens pharmacy, they tell me I have to call Walgreens pharmacy to transfer meds. Called Walgreens pharmacy and they say that the new pharmacy needs to call them to have it transferred. Mind you Walgreens only had an automated system, so no one to talk to. Como pharmacy claimed Walgreens was being lazy. Funny I was a pharmacy tech and I know what the procedure is. We have always done transfers when customers come in and say what pharmacy it is, what meds they want transferred. I now get a call from Como pharmacy that I need to go to Walgreens and give them insurance info and all that and have them transfer it to their pharmacy. Since I haven’t been a tech in a while I thought procedures may have changed. No como pharmacy was just lazy and they didn’t want to do the dirty work. I looked it up online and it’s still the same as I remember. So really I guess they don’t want or need my moms business. I’m okay with that. I’d rather go with someone who is willing to actually do the dirty work.
