The Celeste is by far my favorite hotel I've stayed at in a LONG time! The building is absolutely gorgeous, with some seriously incredible artwork. We had an executive king room and it felt a bit bigger than most king hotel rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and the pillows were perfection. It was a bit warm when we got into our room and I was very excited to find that the windows opened an inch or two, which I've never seen at a hotel before. A pet peeve of mine with a lot of hotels is that bathroom lighting is never very good for doing my makeup. That was not the case here - the bathroom lighting was perfect! The bathroom also had a decently sized walk in shower. We also had a wonderful view of the State Capitol building. The hotel also offers free breakfast. They had a decent selection of breakfast food and everything tasted good. The only thing I would want to warn people of is we didn't have any window coverings in our room. Since we were facing the Capitol building, there were a lot of street lights. It wasn't an issue for us, but it may be for some people. We did not have to deal with staff very much but everyone we did talk to was very nice and helpful. We would absolutely stay at the Celeste again in the future!Rooms: We had an executive king room. It was a bit roomier than I expected. And it had a great view of the State Capitol Building.Walkability: There aren't a ton of restaurants or attractions nearby, but we were able to easily find the places we wanted to go within walking distance.Noteworthy details: The hotel is a former convent and has some gorgeous artwork on every floor.

When I initially booked at Celeste for a 1-night stay, I didn't quite know what I was getting into. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised. The art and history at this hotel is incredible and the price I paid for my stay was more than reasonable. The hotel is equipped with a private bar which was fun to spend time at after a long day of work!

So funny story - I'm making this reservation I thought we were staying someplace else. Finding a hotel realized my mistake. But what a find! From the moment we walked in we were smitten. The staff was amazing, and both the lobby and bar area are a perfect historical reuse. The room was a bit noisy being so close to the light rail, but otherwise med expectations. Highlight? Breakfast. :) A full breakfast with both hot and cold items, and the Chapel was a great place to relax and enjoy it. If you're not a breakfast person at least have a cappuccino and take in the history! We would definitely stay again.

This hotel was amazing! Historic for sure! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Located close to the Xcel Energy Center is a major plus! Also, they served breakfast! Most hotels around the area didn't or you have to pay for it! The only downside to our stay was that our room was on the garden level (ground level). You can hear everything on the street. Next time we will get a room on a different level.

I stopped by last night for a drink before a show at the Fitzgerald. It was crowded, but no worse than the bar I ended up at. That's right, I never got a drink. I walked in the door and the bartender immediately told me to find a seat somewhere and he'd be with me. 15 minutes passed, so I went to the bar to try to grab a menu so I could at least see what I was getting myself into. The bartender rudely snapped at me that, he'd be with me and no ordering till he came around. He was standing there arguing with people, complaining he had 20 drinks to make. Well buddy, how about you start then? I waited another 10 and then hoofed it over to Camp Bar, which was standing room only. I was immediately served by a very nice bartender. There were only two people working the whole place. At the Celeste, here is an idea. The tender had two people behind with him doing nothing. The job isn't too stand around looking pretty. Bartender, mix drinks. One of you take orders. The other of you ring. Easy peasy since none of you can multi task and ALL of you are rude and put out by being located next to a music venue. At any rate id never go back.

Ok this was a tough hôtel to rate because it is not a perfect hotel but it is a 5 star experience! A unique building (was a conservatory) with a unique history (run by a Catholic order of sisters) with a cozy bar onsite. Self-serve breakfast is included and you eat in a remodeled chapel. Very singular decorating throughout. The building is located near all downtown events. We happened to be in town for a funeral at Church of the Assumption (Catholic & beautiful), and our stay nicely dovetailed thematically with that. Parking is not free but it is convenient.Rooms: Ok this was a tough hôtel to raté because it is not a 5 star hotel, but it is a 5 star experience! A unique building with a unique history

Celeste Hotel was quite a Saint experience. This place used to be a convent and then a shelter for women.Coffee, in addition to syrup, offered a delightful taste.Despite the calm ambiance, noise trespassing easily through our room. You can hear people walk over on the squicky floor above us or flush the toilet.Rooms are small and with lovely pictures of nuns all over the hotel but also their peculiar sense of humor...The bed sinks in and is soft, but I'm happy for the experience.Staff was friendly and attentive. Virtual tipping is offered in the rooms.

We just went to the bar. It's a beautiful space, if a bit loud when there's a large group. The servers were stretched because it was a busy night. It's a very pleasant place to sit and have a glass of wine and appetizer. Parking can be rough to find on the street, and there is no free parking.

Gorgeous renovated hotel in great location. Rooms feel large with the high ceilings and big windows. Breakfast was fantastic and served in one of the most beautiful rooms I’ve ever ate a complimentary hotel breakfast. There is a parking ramp directly behind it so parking is easy. The light rail goes by right next to the building. It’s not particularly loud, but you’ll notice it. The church bells across the street ring out during the day, which I loved.Walkability: Short, easy walk to multiple venues and restaurants

Cute, clean, and quirky! Convenient location, but not exactly a quiet one, thankfully we cranked the fan to mute a lot of it. We missed out on the breakfast due to an early airport run which was a bummer! We parked in the world trade center ramp which was really convenient. Not sure I would stay again, but glad I tried it once.

The good: really neat old building, make sure you wander around as a lot of the common spaces are very nice. Unique and eclectic art work and old furniture on every floor. Front desk employee was clearly new but friendly. Our King fireplace room was on the top (6th) floor and had huge windows with a French door that faced the capital so a great view especially at night. Could hardly hear the train over the AC unit (but tons of sirens all the time). Nespresso machine in room was great! There was only one robe (2 hangers but one was missing which was odd but we don't use robes anyways). Bed was comfortable. Shower was a little low flow but ok.The BAD-NO housekeeping. We both heard the desk gal say to "put the thing out" if we wanted the room clean. So we put the sign on our door each night but nothing was ever done when we'd get back each day. Same towels, washcloths, one tiny soap, garbage cans filling all 3 days. Not acceptable for almost 200 a night. The fireplace was fake. Just a picture that flickered with a heater. We thought it would be a real gas fireplace.Old building so very loud especially the rude guests on floor 5 or 6 this past Sunday evening who slammed doors and the woman cackling loudly until midnight when we needed to be up at 6am.The one window/door didn't open! I felt very claustrophobic. Was not very comfortable with no fresh air. And there were pigeons outside the window so I assume that's why it doesn't open as there is Iron gates outside it.We stayed here last year in a smaller room on the 5th floor and those windows opened, altho very little. For twice the cost of last year's room we got less, minus the way better view this year. Many cobwebs in this room.Parking in the ramp is 17.75 each morning you leave if you park there overnight. You have to pay the machine every time you leave, only cards-no cash. Wish parking was free, but not an awful price for St Paul. Area is super sketchy so I'd advise parking in the ramp. We saw a security guard there every time we went to our Jeep.Breakfast was the exact same offerings all 3 days. Pretty dull. Fancy coffee machine is great tho when it works!Rooms: Windows on floor 6 don't open. No housekeeping. Fireplaces are fake.Safety: LOTS of homeless aroundWalkability: Grocery store and a few restaurants within a couple blocks. Don't walk alone after dark.

I fell in love with this hotel. The aesthetic of the 1900s and the fact that it used to be a convent made it even better. I appreciated that the breakfast was complimentary until 10am. Close to the Excel center so we were able to walk there with a bar kitty corner from the block. Overall great experience.

We were attending a concert in St Paul. We saw the Celeste Hotel on line and it looked like a beautiful place to stay. Old and quail. Which it was. However, we got a room on the garden level.. it was in the basement! It was dark, and down below the outside sidewalk.. people could see us and we could see the lower half of their bodies! When we went to bed we were awoken by a bright light in our room along with loud noise .. this continued all night! We realized the light rail train went right by our room!!The hotel itself was cool but do not get a garden level room.. wish they would have been more specific about the room on their website!!

It was ok. Front desk person wasn't too friendly at first-we arrived around 2 and when I said we had reservations, she immediately said "check in is at 3", not the usual "I'll see if any rooms are ready". She was able to get us in early though after all. Garden level room, seemed a little damp/musty but was clean. Not a lot of counter space in the bathroom so our party of 3 had to tote things in and out when needed. Room price was high compared to other hotels/motels in the area. Not to put anyone down but it is next to a low income housing building and we noticed lots of people walking around in front of the hotel which was a little concerning. Beds were comfy but watch your shins, the corners of ours were exposed metal that we kept running into when maneuvering around the room.
