Billing is a mess, no patient advocacy promoted, and many forced unnecessary interventions. It’s an extension of a hospital. There are so many midwives in and out of the practice. There’s better midwifery care elsewhere. There are a few midwives that were very kind but they’ve since left.16 months later I was billed over $800 because of their own issues- I was about to give birth to my second baby when we randomly got hit with another bill. After my experience at a different birth center in Idaho and processed a lot of my birth here with my new midwife I learned how bad the experience was. I highly suggest going through an individual midwife to avoid the politics involved in birth centers.I was not the only individual that was randomly hit with a bill over a year later. My friend who had a baby also had it happen to her.

I had a wonderful experience at MBC. The care is great for low risk patients. I had low platelets throughout my whole pregnancy and they monitored them closely. They were very clear about risking out if my platelets got too low. Thankfully I did not. They said they would prefer to have certain options in place during birth (like putting a thing in my arm to more quickly administer meds because of the low platelets). I agreed, but I was able to decline them on the day of my daughters birth though (because she came so fast). They were ok with that. My birth was wonderful and the midwife and nurses were great during and after. I will definitely be having my next child at MBC. I’m so grateful for the homelike experience.

I highly do not recommend this place unless you are 100 percent healthy with not the slightest issue. These nurses are using outdated resources to check your blood sugar and want only convenience. They make assumptions and do not base anything on facts. Not a lot of people give birth at this center because they are based on incompetent nurses that fear almost the slightest risk.

Perfectly fine prenatal care. All staff were friendly and helpful. When it came time to give birth, there was a freak accident in communication with the midwives and there was no one at the birth center to help me, so had to rush to the hospital. Mid-labor the backup midwife showed up; she was supportive and did great delivering the baby, including doing an episiotomy. They say this has never happened before but it happened; they were apologetic about it. Followup care was fine.

Go to the birth center if you want to be treated like a whole human being for your prenatal care. The midwives really care and aren’t rushing you to their next patient. Having my prenatal care there helped me to be the healthiest I’ve ever been, mentally and physically! They are a one stop shop too, and can connect you with prescriptions, therapists, medical specialists, doulas, etc. and do well-woman care. I love all the midwives especially Katie and Rachel at St. Paul. I had to get transferred to the hospital so unfortunately I can’t say what it’s like to birth there, but two midwives delivered my baby in the hospital which made it a lot less stressful.

Had both my babies at MBC. One in St. Paul and one in Minneapolis. I'm so glad I had an out-of-hospital birth. I rave about my births to anyone who will listen. The experiences were just so positive. Such a warm and homey place. Dr. Calvin, the midwives, nurses, and staff were nothing but great to me and my family. Thank you.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with the MN Birth Center (MPLS location). From our orientation and virtual tour (this was during Covid), to my delivery, to the postpartum care (including lactation support) we felt supported and in excellent hands. Cannot recommend them enough!

My experience at the MN Birth Center (St Paul) was amazing from my first prenatal visit to my last postpartum visit (and everything in-between!) I met with several of the midwives throughout my prenatal care, all of whom were so wonderful. I never felt rushed at my appointments and appreciated each and everyone of them listening to my long list of questions with an open ear and compassionate heart. My birth experience was everything I had hoped for: un-medicated and un-dictated. I was surrounded by incredibly caring and capable women who made me feel empowered. I delivered my 10pound/8ounce son completely naturally and I honestly don't think that would have happened in a hospital. The birthing rooms are gorgeous and the entire vibe of the center is that of skillful ease. If/when baby #2 comes along, there is no doubt in my mind where I'll seek care.

Everyone there does their best to provide compassionate care. Rebecca at the front is amazing, as are the midwifes I've worked with. Christina Anderson and Katie Ireland are especially knowledgeable and supportive with their approach. I have no complaints and I'm a harsh critic!

After receiving care at the MBC with our first (despite having to be induced at Abbott) and being so pleased with the staff and our entire experience, we knew right away we wanted to have our second at MBC as well.

I am still amazed by the awesome care I received at the MN Birth Center (St. Paul) location. I always wanted a more natural birth and didn’t know what was possible until I found the MN Birth Center. Every appointment leading up to the birth of my little one was awesome. Each appointment the midwives made sure to answer all my questions and I never felt rushed. My birth and labor were really long due to baby’s position and I know if I had been at a hospital I would have ended up with drugs and a c-section which is not at all what I wanted. But the midwives and nurses were there the whole time helping me through it at the birth center and on the phone when I was at home. Even though giving birth in a pandemic is not what I expected. I am so thankful for the MN Birth Center for the opportunity to give birth how as close as how I wanted to during such crazy times.

I’m so happy I chose to receive my care here. Each midwife and nurse that I worked with were incredibly caring, supportive, and treated me like an individual. In labor I was never rushed despite my long labor. The birth rooms are all so cozy and beautiful, along with the rest of the clinic (both locations). I never felt like I was in a clinical setting, it’s very homey.

I delivered my 3rd baby here. My previous 2 babies I had at Health Foundations, a place I would give 5+ stars! We chose MBC because the cost they told to us was much lower than Health Foundations. But this was not true. Health Foundations was up front about what it would cost. MBC hid the cost and 3 months after delivery we got a giant bill! The prenatal care I received at MBC was like a visit to a doctors office. They are not naturally minded in their prenatal care and seem to be too busy to be personal with you. I was thankful this was my 3rd natural birth so I knew what questions to ask. Multiple times my appoints were repeats of the same questions, it seemed the midwives did not communicate. It wasn't until I was 36 weeks that I realized we had yet to talk about my birth plan. I came with my birth plan, but was still told to make sure I shared it with Midwife when I was in labor. Not sure why it couldn't be in my folder for the midwife to read when I came in for labor. The labor and delivery was great. That is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. I labored for 1hr at the birth center before my 3rd child was born. The midwife was encouraging and helpful during labor. It was an ideal birth.Overall before you decide to go here I would check out Health Foundations on Grand Ave in St Paul.

I gave birth to my first baby on December 20th, 2019. I have to say, I was so confident going into labor and my birth, that I am a bit disappointed with the organization that took place the day of.
