My husband and I love Cathy Mackenthun’s. We just moved to Minnetrista and that is now our go to place when needing fantastic steaks and meats. We also love their pasta salads and cheeses. The meats are smoked perfectly and the steaks are just incredible! Cathy’s carries fresh produce and grocery items as well. It’s a tad bit pricier, but it’s 100% worth it. We haven’t had something we don’t love!

My favorite butcher shop in the Twin Cities! Their prices are reasonable for how high of quality their products are. Worth the extra cost for the selection.
The best spot in the west metro for steaks, beef, and chicken. One of the best places to stop and reload the freezer!

Was getting hungry on our road trip back home, so we decided to stop here, and we are sure glad we did. The pulled pork and Philly were delicious! We also picked up some jerky and beef sticks. There are all kinds of spices, sauces, cheese and meats. This is hands down one of the best meat markets we've been to in the state.

Let me save you the trip. Don't bring your venison here. They don't want it. They're too worried that the tabloids are actually telling the truth for once, and that CWD has in fact jumped from deer to humans. I get the concern. Prion diseases are no joke. But don't believe the tabloids selling lies to make a quick buck. I'm a family practice PA and we've received no notification from the state of MN that CWD has in fact jumped from deer to humans. Honestly the real reason I'm most disappointed, and the reason for the 1 star review, is the way I was made to feel like trash for walking into the store with my nicely packaged frozen deer meat. And that was from every person I talked to behind the counter. I worked hard to break down my families healthy bucks from our hunt last year. I had hoped to process it myself, but life gets crazy with kids and sometimes you just need a helping hand. I received no such help from Mackenthun's today. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least.

A real deal smokehouse making most everything in the store from scratch. There is no better selection you’ll find for smoked meats and deli items. Don’t drive by without giving them a try you will be back! Personal recommendation is their bacon and the pork jerky is fantastic.

This place has the best meats and selection. Their brats, breakfast sausage links, jerky and smoked salmon are favorites in our household. Would highly recommend!!

I heard a lot of good things about this place. We had some extra time today and passed by, so we decided to get lunch. At the front door, they had a chalk board sign advertising $9.99 meatloaf special. When we got in, there was a white board advertising the same. Underneath the meatloaf “case,” there was also a taped up white paper saying $9.99.
After we paid, my husband noticed that we paid $21.98 for two. Tax wouldn’t be that much, so I asked if I paid extra for something. I even ask stupidly if I paid extra for gravy. The lady just said, no. It’s $10.99 and someone wrote the wrong price.
All three signs had the wrong price? Why did no one double check this? Are we the only ones who noticed?
A very disappointing experience.

Decided to give it a go after a recommendation. Nice little place. Good variety of fresh cuts, brats, jerky, sausages, deli items, as well as a frozen section. Jerky is excellent, I shoveled several pieces in on the drive home. Steaks go on the grill tomorrow, they look wonderful. Prices are reasonable, friendly staff and the location is easy to find. Definitely worth a shot.
