I’m hoping this review only impacts the Rosedale Mall Location. We have always had excellent service at the Eden Prairie Location and will continue to shop there.
My wife and I went to shop on the evening of Friday, Sept 27th, 2024. We both had finished work for the week, and last minute decided to grab a few items before we both left on business trips the following week. Our goal was a nice dress shirt for me to replace one, possibly a new pair of dress slacks, new black dress shoes, new casual shoes, a Marc Jacob’s for her, and possibly a new sweater/jacket.
I went to the men’s, and was immediately ignored. I was in joggers, and a t-shirt, but presentable, and neat. Definitely dressed down, but I was planning on trying on clothes so I dressed for it. When I did get a gentleman to help me, I told him specifically what I was looking for and he told me to look for a brand and then proceeded to walk away. Basically he pointed me to the most expensive shirt brand they sell. Didn’t help with pants at all. I wandered over to shoes, and looked at several pairs, and held them in my hand and waited. I saw a sales guy, but again, completely ignored.
I went upstairs to find my wife and she was upset because she’d been standing and wandering around the purses and the sales lady looked at her but wouldn’t come help her. We stood in front of the Marc Jacob’s display and watched 2 employees try to fix a cabinet and then the sales lady that had ignored my wife went and helped another couple, finally I asked the other lady if there was someone who could help us. She went and got keys, and tried but the other lady had to come and unlock the cabinet. She grumbled and hemmed and hawed and made it very obvious we were wasting her time. Bear in mind my wife had picked the bag she wanted before we got to the store. She just had to verify that her phone and wallet would fit.
The whole experience was so bad, we left with 1 shirt because I desperately needed a specific color, and didn’t want to shop anymore, and nothing else.
We both felt like we were judged based on appearance, not race, she’s white and I’m Korean but rather how we were dressed. We have never had this problem at Eden Prairie. In fact I had the best service of my life buying a suit for my mother’s funeral, and trust me I looked a wreck. Rosedale just had a different vibe. It seemed like they rushed to help the people who looked like they were dripping money, and chose to ignore us completely. We will not be returning.

I LOVE Von Maur!! It is incredibly clean, organized, and with very pleasant employees. It is more expensive than other stores but so worth it. There is even a live person playing a grand piano. I always check their clearance racks and often find good deals. Even the bathrooms are amazing!

Beautiful store can't afford to shop there. My daughter sent me a beautiful sterling charm bracelet from Texas, I looked all over to find charms from James Avery & Von Maur had a big selection of charms, so I could add 4 more charms they weren't cheap but very nice.

Bob from Men’s Furnishings was as helpful as he was entertaining. We needed ties to match various suits for my brother’s wedding. Bob helped give style advice to help my entire family coordinate. He kept the process light and fun hearted the whole time. He made us feel welcome and comfortable in the store.

STORE, SELECTION AND SERVICE ARE OUTSTANDING. LOVELY OVER ALL EXPERIENCE. Sales associates are welcoming and plentiful, dressing rooms are open and plentiful, store is clean, and piano player on Sunday just added to the overall experience. Selection is also great. Entering the store was like entering an oasis at the mall - It was SO different than another well known, upscale dept store that now has no sales associates, messy racks, unkept restrooms, no fitting rooms (almost all have been closed) - so sad. I wondered why Von Maur was so different. I found they are still owned by the Von Maur family - Owners take things personally. The other dept store was aquired by a Private Equity company in the last few years, that puts profit over people and customers - again, very sad.

Absolutely awful company. They treated my newly wed husband like garbage. I booked our honeymoon 7-8 months in advance for three weeks. We let them know 7 months in advance that we would be going on a honeymoon for three weeks and they said that he would have to quit and get rehired (weeks later once he came back from the honeymoon). Who wants to go through the ENTIRE hiring process again AND start 3 weeks after he came back from the honeymoon. It is disgusting how they treated him. I finally put my foot down and told him not to work for this awful company that doesn’t respect him. The honeymoon trip was non refundable and we let them know WELL in advance. It’s funny because he worked very hard in the loss prevention department and caught many people trying to steal. I saw multiple police cars today outside of their store and I understand why.. they lost one of their most valuable loss prevention workers and surprise surprise… they are losing money through the nose from people stealing now. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They will never see a dime from me and ALL of the people I know. Very terrible company; would not recommend supporting this business in any way shape or form.

Love this place. They carry less I think due to people buying on line . I think if you like feel,touch, and see what you buy, this is the store!!

I was looking for a nice, fresh, summer fragrance, but wasn't sure what to get. I asked the employee standing near the men's fragrances and she showed me many different fresh and amazing summer fragrances that were all amazing. Then she showed me one of her favorite fresh man's scents called "tumi awaken". Not only did she find me one of the best fragrances of my life, but she also helped me find notes and prices of all the fragrances I was looking at. The older women working at the von maur near little Canada NEEDS a raise, because that was some of the best customer service I have received in my whole life.
