We couldn't wait to check out this gem. Fellow shoppers and reviewer's said it was like a small Byerlys. How could we be more disappointed? The place has a odor, debris on the floors and sour faced employees. We bravely purchased a few things, guess what, the meat was off, way off. The rolls were stinky, unknown brands from unknown parts. Wish we could say something good, but even the cookies were just not edible. So buyer and review readers beware of false prophecy.

I just moved to Red Wing, and this is my neighborhood grocery store. It is small but has a lot packed inside. It just celebrated a century of existence. It is not the best place for bargain hunting, but you know what? They have the best selection around of local goods, everything from cheese (CannonBelles!) to produce (Lake City strawberries!) to crackers to BBQ sauces. The meat department has a great selection and a really nice butcher. Actually, everyone here has been incredibly nice. I imagine that it's the kind of place where I'll soon know the workers' names and they'll know mine.

Meat department, 5 stars any given day. Thank you Ryan for your amazing customer service. I can't tell people enough about the meat/deli department at Buchanan's. No, they aren't as cheap as Walmart, but the customer service and quality is worth it. Idk if they can ever read these comments, but i hope they can. I've never been in a small town grocery store where the customer service is higher than Buchanan's. Im so grateful, they do a beautiful job and I'm so happy when i can sing out their praises.Thank you all for doing what you do. Its a pleasure to be one of your frequent customers.

I've never really needed a full meat department (other than processing venison) until recently. On a couple of occasions I've called them with a set budget and asked them to make it stretch as much as possible. They have never disappointed me, not even once. I have referred several people based on my experience and none of them were disappointed. I honestly can't say enough good things about their store and the pride it shows.

Limited meat counter items, but what they have is good quality. That being said, the prices on almost all items are too high, higher than other local markets in town. Buchanan’s has always been a little pricey, but since ownership changed hands it’s become just too expensive. We always try to support local businesses but sometimes it becomes cost prohibitive and it’s no longer reasonable.

I've been buying fresh cut meats from Buchanan Grocery for decades. If you want quality and great service, this is the place! The cashier always has a smile, which isn't always easy these days.
