Dissatisfied with the business arrangement.
As I am looking to become a leased-on owner operator I find the most idealistic truck with FM Truck Sales. The presentation and testing driving of the truck went fantastic.
After calling the leasing company, I was informed of insurance issues so FM Truck Sales and I came to an agreement to put a $1,000 hold on the truck that would be applicable to the downpayment if purchased.
After 1 month of time and connecting multiple times with both the leasing company (to check on the status update of insurance) and FM Truck Sales. I was finally informed that the leasing company will not provide insurance on me at this time. So, I called FM Truck Sales to inform them to release the hold.
FM Truck Sales informed me that they will be keeping ($500 of the $1000 hold) none of which was discussed at the time of placing the hold. In my opinion, there should be common courtesy to inform me of any stipulations before agreeing to a hold.
After communicating the issue FM Truck Sales agreed to reimburse $800 of the $1000. However, I still find this non-business-like since the truck was never removed from their website or advertised as having a hold.
Typically, this is the type of situation where a business would make a full refund and learn from the mistake to prevent any unhappy future potential customers.
(Being a slow time in the market with high interest rates lets me know that there is less demand for truck sales at this present time, and I understand that if there was interest in the truck the salesman would have been more persistent to make a sale and would have given me a time line to make a final decision, such as 1-week notice or we'll start deducting money from your hold, for this reason I feel a full-refund would have been appropriate.)

I had a good experience. We purchased a used reefer straight truck from Duane and the purchase was no hassle. He let us test drive it extensively and answered what he could. The purchase went smooth. What I appreciated the most is it wasn't a long drawn out process with the salesman having to "go speak to the manager" for negotiating authority.
