It was my first job after completing college in 1969. I was the Family Service Worker. I enjoyed my years there. I pray it is just as great for the community now as it was then.

Phyllis Wheatley Community Center’s (PWCC) mission is to create pathways for individuals to discover their strengths and take control of their futures. We envision a world where every child has the resources and support to grow into a healthy adult and live life to their greatest potential. Working in the North Minneapolis community for nearly 100 years, PWCC provides services, training, and child development programming for a majority African American population. Our holistic approach works to raise people out of the poverty cycle and create a better trajectory for the futures of our neighborhoods, and our neighbors.
