I donated a 20 year old car in February 2024. The process was fast and easy and the people at Newgate (I worked mostly with Casey) were friendly and helpful. Over the years I've donated two other cars to charity and my experience with Newgate has been far and away the best. One of the other charities did not register the title change and a couple months after the donation I was called by the Stillwater Police saying my car had been abandoned there. The second time the person that came to tow the car was a subcontractor and not part of the charity and was reluctant to sign the title transfer. Once again, Newgate has been the best and easiest and most efficient way to donate a car. Also the tow truck driver called ahead about 15 minutes before showing up and had the car loaded and was gone in under 10 minutes. Very impressive.

I applied to see if I can get a vehicle. I lost my vehicle thru KIA and I lost my granddaughter and I wanted to go back to work but you turned me down. What else do I have to lose to get a vehicle?

We have donated two cars to Newgate School. This program is real, teaching people real work skills. Just look at how to apply to the program, "Applying to Newgate School is easy--just give Dennis Dunn a call at 612-378-0177". Can't beat that!

I loved donating here!!!
Super-fast donation--2 minutes--and super gracious, super friendly staff. I was even *that guy* who arrived 5 minutes before closing time on a SATURDAY.
In a place like Minneapolis it's virtually impossible to hold a job, let alone raise a child without a reliable car. Newgate is doing great work for our community!!!

Great experience and worthy cause times two! Donated our Jeep which we'd had for 11 years, still in good shape but starting to need some work - the donation was handled with much appreciation, quick paperwork during the donation and for the IRS paperwork, clean facility, very friendly staff - but the non profit, fully self sustaining operation was what sold us; not only training mechanics but then also assisting working women, excellent causes times two! and the Jeep lives on to boot - highly recommend.

I donated my car to Newgate after hearing about their tuition-free education program. It seemed like the perfect fit considering my car was in extreme disrepair and could provide many hours of practice for students.
I was not impressed, however, with how Newgate handled my donation. They did not act very grateful at all -- it was just hand over the keys, sign a form, and good-bye. Their demeanor seemed almost as if they were doing ME a favor instead of vice versa.
I'm glad my car went to a good cause in helping underprivileged students gain an education, but other than that, I can't say I felt very good about my decision to donate my vehicle to Newgate. If I could do it over again, I would probably pick a different charity, one that seemed more appreciative.
I should qualify this review by noting that I donated my car around three years ago, so it's possible Newgate's customer service has improved in that time. Their radio advertising has not changed at all since then, though, which is actually what prompted me to write this review. It's annoying to hear radio personalities plugging for Newgate in advertisements that gush about the school's benevolent role in the community. Those ads actually inspired me to donate my vehicle to Newgate in the first place, and I have to say that my experience did not live up to the advertisements' hype.
I'm not saying don't give your car to Newgate -- I'm sure it will go to good use in the program. But with so many worthy charities these days competing for vehicle donations, there are probably others that would demonstrate greater appreciation for your gift.
