The apartment itself is not the worst. There is some mold around all of the faucets and the shower had a ton of mold before we had to clean it. Lots of little annoyances we had to clean or fix. The staff is not great at all. I have asked for things and gotten no help. They are mostly rude and condescending and even telling me to fix things on my own. The laundry room is awful to the point where it makes your clothes dirtier. I have tried to get it cleaned or get new machines but they do not do anything. Was construction going on for the first half of the school year and was given no notice about it. All of the amenities were shut down with no notice. Had to walk through paint and scaffolding jungle gym to get to our door. Also had two packages stolen and they told me too bad send them somewhere else. Such poorly run. Shame that its a cool building.

Don’t live here! Last year we didn’t have elevators for 6 months. This year literally everything is under construction. The gym, an amenity we pay for, has been closed for 3 weeks and there was no communication that it was gonna be closed. I just went down there one day and everything was under a tarp. Management does not tell you anything and they are going to make us switch apartments mid lease with no rent break or anything. For peace on mind live somewhere else.

No management/maintenance responses in days. No one at the front desk for the past three days, and considering it's Friday and hours are almost over it's going to end up being 5 days without anyone at the front desk and that's only if someone shows up on Monday

I’d leave a negative review if I could. Their “on call 24/7 maintenance staff” is impossible to get ahold of after office hours because all of the possible phone numbers get directed to the phone in the lobby, which no one attends to anyway, with no possible way of reaching without already knowing the extension, of which they tell no one.

this is by far the WORST building to live in on campus. Spend money elsewhere!!!!! A literal cockroach in my apartment…now i know what i identified thing they were spraying for before we moved in (obviously didn’t work). This place is kept a mess, is never cleaned and trash in parking garage always overflowing. I’ve seen dead rats near the gym and trash room. This place is NOT handicap friendly, you can’t even enter the building due to broken handicap doors that have no urgency to be fixed. Nothing around here is ever done efficiently or in a timely matter. Elevators were broken for 3+ months and still have one broken that probably won’t be fixed for the rest of our lease. If you want parking here good luck because new people don’t get garage door openers! Staff is nice but this place should honestly be shut down for uncleanliness and major maintenance issues. So if you like stairwells with rotting food on the walls and floors or living in a dump then sign a lease today!

Been reaching out to management Gina for literally 5+ months with no response related to mold testing in my daughters apartment her last response was she was billing with month end and would get back to us in 5 days. Apartment required extensive repairs from water damage from upper floors with cancelled maintenance tickets and no response until the ceiling and wall was black with mold and coming into room. My daughters health has been impacted and I have not received response on mold testing. Billing has been inaccurate followed by erroneous late charges and utility billing in addition to erroneous parking charges. When the phone is answered staff have reiterated that they have escalated the concerns to Gina and a Christy but we have not seen resolution nor response. For my daughters health please respond! I have attached some of the photos of the damage when it was early, it progressed quickly from there with daily clean up required to limit further damage from water coming in.

Making my first online review to warn anyone from signing a lease at Sydney Hall owned by East Bank Communities. First, the building has not been handicap accessible for the last month as the elevators have been shut down by the building and the issue was not addressed to residents until twenty days after the incident. Our building is 6 stories tall, forcing anyone to travel up and down the 3 and a half foot wide staircase every day. Talk about a fire hazard! Second, our hallway and staircase which are shared spaces have not been cleaned since move in 4 months ago and light fixtures and emergency exit signs remain shattered and hanging from the ceiling for weeks to months. Third, good luck getting homework done, watching tv, or doing anything that uses Wi-Fi as there is an outage every couple weeks that takes at least a full day to fix after each occurrence. Lastly, the building hours that guarantee the front desk being staffed are not accurate as it is a common occurrence for phone lines, maintenance requests, and desk visits to go unanswered for days. The only bright light in this mess is the leasing consultant Brianna who goes above and beyond to carry the weight of the complex’s issues on her shoulders. East Bank Communities should not have the ability to take advantage of college students and young adults taking advantage of a convenient location in Dinkytown.

As a past resident with East Bank Communities, I honestly do not recommend any of their buildings. The pricing at these buildings are not worth the floor plan sizes, lack of amenities and management issues compared to other places in the area. My floor and the ceiling of my unit were ripped off without my knowledge or any type of forewarning. I came home to two men plastic wrapping my kitchen and bathroom, throwing my belongings into drawers and even pushing dirty dishes into my clean dish cabinets. Another instance in the morning, there was a single knock at my door and before I could even react a man entered my room. He was not even a regular maintenance worker and a total stranger to me. As a young woman who lives alone I was terrified. Turns out it was someone hired by the company but no notice was sent to me about this and they walked in before I could even react to the knock. My experience living here was awful.

Flawed service and communication, expect to get fees for everything if you live here. Rent is way too high for absolutely no space in four person suites. Amenities are often under repair or broken indefinitely, fire alarms go off unprovoked forcing residents onto the street at odd hours, and staff is very shady. Look at getting a house or a cheaper apartment run by a less shady corporation. Edited to add that Oshūn, a new employee, appears to be making many positive changes to the environment, but unless more staff with this genuinely helpful initiative takeover, I cannot recommend this building.

The management here is a joke. When you email them asking for help which requires them to actually take some sort of action, they’d just straight up ignore your email. Plus the front desk is often unstaffed even during their office hours. The communication between the management and residents is terrible...except for when they are eager to reach out to you maybe? A side story- I once got 13(!!!) phone calls in a row (my phone was set to Do Not Disturb) from the staff who later texted me that I could rent the other empty room in my unit?! Seriously, 13 phone calls for this?! Oh so here’s my unpolished theory-when someone set their phone to Do Not Disturb, it is theoretically possible that they literally mean DO NOT DISTURB. Guess I’d end my midnight rant here. Anyway just avoid this place. Renting here has been my biggest regret in my whole life.

Maintenance guys are great people, truly, so is the head property manager. The staff however with a few exceptions are horrendous to work with. Was put out of my apartment for months during the COVID lockdown due to construction.
