Really made me think. Will return again for more inspiration! Store is also thoughtfully organized (for example, cookbooks are by food gifts for sale); rich in character.

This bookstore is really beautiful and has a great selection of both native and non-native authors. There are also an assortment of handmade gifts that are clearly made with care. When I was there today one of the employees helped me find some horror books. They had lots of good suggestions and were friendly and genuine.

Wonderful, quaint bookstore with a focus on Indigenous American culture, art and of course books. The owner is author Louise Erdrich, and there is a section dedicated to her many, beautifully written books. The staff are very friendly and I have appreciated their recommendations. Shop local!

I have been wanting to visit Birchbark Books ever since the book club at the coffee shop my husband and I own read The Sentence last year. We finally made it up to MN this weekend and this bookstore did not disappoint! We were immediately greeted by Louise's lovely daughter, Palace. She apparently also has a dog named Kara who they have a painting of in the shop (you can see me posing with her!). This shop has an amazing selection of Indigenous books — it was so hard to choose what to get! Oh, and the confessional from The Sentence is in the shop which is great. I am really looking forward to coming back to this shop.

My second visit to this amazing bookstore. I came away with four books, three were Native American authors and a card, postcard, a couple of bookmarks. I also order online. Stopped in here while we visited Minneapolis.

My wife and I have bought several books from Birchbark Books over the last couple of years. We also received a wonderful recommendation from a staff person about a series of youth books that our granddaughter has reread several times. The staff are always friendly.

Best little bookstore! Worth the drive to see great collection of Native American books and other good writing in a quiet, cozy Midwestern neighborhood across the street from the squeals of excited elementary children during recess. You can feel the difference as you soak in handwritten summaries and signed books by some of the authors. What a gem of a place. We drove more than 700 miles to spend 30 minutes here and it was well worth it!!
