I bought a 2019 vehicle from here back towards the end of May of 2023. I went to get a new car since I travel to report to the national guard. And they recommended this vehicle was going to be a good choice. I did the test drive but nothing seemed wrong. The drive to my house is about a hour and when I got home with the new vehicle I noticed the car smelled really bad like oil and was smoking. I let them know as soon as possible and we had the vehicle back at the dealership within the first week of buying it.They said it was an oil leak and they would fix it. We took the vehicle back to the dealership once again about a week later since they had the part to fix the oil leak and that's when they were supposed to fix the problem. The car kept smelling really bad and smoking even after they had "fixed it". They said the smell would leave about 2-3 days later that it was just residue of the oil that had leaked a week or two had passed and everything was the same. Then one day on my way to work the car started to accelerate on itself while it was on Park. And if the car was on drive it would drive all alone without having to press on the gas paddle. I immediately told them about the problem and took it once again to the dealership. I had to drive the car up there like that because or else I wouldn't be able to get a loaner for work if I had taken it by a tow truck no idea why. They couldn't find what was wrong and they drive it and said it didn't do anything when it was over there. I drove the vehicle back home and it started doing the same thing the next day. I called them and they asked my if the check engine was on and I said it was so I took it again and that day maintenance wasn't there ti check it until it was Monday. Once again apparently the check engine had turned off and the vehicle "didn't do anything wrong" so I had to drive the vehicle back down. Then I decided to record the vehicle accelerating on itself and even sent it ti them and they still didn't know what it was. I had the car for about 2 months around that time and from those 2 months it's was most of the time I had bought it so about a month in the dealership and they couldn't find what was wrong. A uncle of mine used on of his own computers to check the code for the check engine and we sent it to them ti see if now they new what was wrong with the vehicle. There they told us it was the purge valve that was broken and we had to wait for the part to come in. Then they told us that the oil leaking, the smell, and the smoking was most likely from the broken purge valve and that the smell would go away in like two days once it was fixed. The vehicle got the purge valve replaced and we expected that finally the car was okay to drive and that nothing was wrong but nope that was not the oil leak. They never gave us any proof that they had fixed the oil leak or what part was even leaking from the first time "they worked on it". We contacted them again about how everything stayed the same except the part that the vehicle was not accelerating on itself because that was actually fixed. They said they can't do anything about the oil.leak and smell that, that was something to take to a Mazda dealer ship which is the the type of car I had bought. We took the car to the Mazda dealership and that's when they told us that the motor had a crack that was causing the oil leak, the bad smell, and the smoke all along. We contacted Toyotas dealership about it and they don't want to do anything about it even though we bought the car like that from them when they told us the car was in excellent condition and that was obviously a lie. Respectfully, I don't think a car that messed up is excellent condition. I haven't been able to drive to work and have had to relay in other people for the last 5 months because of their excellent condition car. All they told me was to call the extended warranty to see if it covers the cost of the repairs which is over $7,000 and no they don't So

Rip off artists hosting Progressive Insurance theft by trickery parties. They quoted $1900 for front and rear bumpers to be fixed like new...leaving me to cough up $1000 for 2 separate deductibles and an extra $3000-$5000 in out of pocket expenses to get the car back to like new condition so I could trade it in before the 100k warranty expired. I would go to Chucks in Eagle Lake or Jerry's. These guys host scam parties. No way in hell can anyone fix the damage to the rear for $600. They should be out of business. I gave them photos of 3 spots to forward to Progressive. Top of trunk, rear driver side and the HOLE in the bumper. The cross traffic sensor needs to be replaced....they disregarded everything I told them needed to be fixed and just dropped the least amount possible. (Probably a rear bumper wrap instead of fixing it correctly) Obviously they dropped the ball. I would stay away at all costs. Do NOT fall for Progressive insurances invitation for a "free estimate" from Toyota. They will waste your time and you will only become angry. Trust me.

I seem to have major problems with auto service. I have owned a Toyota for th last two vehicles have been extremely pleased with quality but the rav4 hybrid I purchased has me concerned with maintenance of this brand.1). The vehicle warning at slow speed and/or backing up is very loud and is not adjustable volume. Several people I know with the same brand with volume are very quiet. I can’t seem to get serviced to reduce the volume.2) MPG on the this hybrid is not even close to what you advertised when I was shopping around. I registered 27 mpg on the resent road trip. My nephew is averaging 38-43 with his rav4. Something needs adjustmenting to get better mpg on ths vehicle.I have an oil change needing servicing and feel these should be addressed then. Previous response from service department was all would improve with more mileage but I am coming to 20,000 miles and no improvement. Please let me know what and when your can doing for me. I’m not maintaining a positive feeling of Toyota quality.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement

Danielle, the finance expert, at Toyota of Mankato did an excellent job helping us seal the deal on our new to us vehicle. She was very honest and did not push anything on you that you didn't want. She was very knowledgeable of the warranties that accompanied our purchase and took time to make sure we didn't leave until all our questions were answered. Thank you Danielle for making this process smooth and enjoyable!

Heinz Toyota service department and Assistant manager Josh was excellent! I was on my way back to Wisconsin to visit my mother from Olivia, a five hour trip and 13 miles west of Mankato my battery light came on, power steering was having issues. I said a little prayer to God that I could make it to the Toyota dealership as it was 10 miles when the maintenance required light came on, audio stopped. I made it !!! Josh got there 7:50 am, I had driven up to the service door. Turned off! He had me try to start it, the car wouldn’t start! Shirt, New Toyota alternator/Battery - parts were on hand!No mechanics come in on Saturday!I was disappointed, but Josh had gone and texted their five mechanics and one came in on Labor Day Saturday to help out a first time customer in need!!! I am most grateful and Thankful of the “WOW!” Customer service!!! They got my car repaired and me on the road to visit my Mother in a memory care! Weekend back on trackThank you Mankato Toyota!!!Very happy customer,ChristineService: Battery

I highly recommend Toyota of Mankato. They really came through when my 300,000 mile Land Cruiser had a serious front axle problem on a cross-country road trip. My service manager was Vaughn and my technician was Tom. What you need from a service manager in an emergency is someone: (1) who will do everything possible to get you your car on the hoist as soon as possible to diagnose, repair, and get you on the way; (2) who is also very clear about the possible worst case scenarios, so that you can hope for the best and plan for the worst with realistic expectations and no surprises; and (3) who keeps you up to date with each new development as they work on the problem, so you can update your expectations and backup plans. Vaughn did that perfectly. In the end, the repair was not minor. Instead entire left front end axle & bearing system was rebuilt in just 28 hours from when I limped in the door from out of town without an appointment. This is astonishingly quick given that some parts were not on site. And it only happened because Vaughn and Tom and the parts team did great work. Now I'm 4000 miles across the country including about 200 dirt miles, and my Land Cruiser hasn't skipped a beat. So I guess Tom's rebuild did the trick! And I know exactly what he did, because he took the time to show me some of the work in progress as well as the relevant service manual diagrams. Thanks guys!

Every time I would take my vehicle for an oil change I would get told I needed additional this or that. The last time I went, was told I needed a new cabin air filter & they took it out to show me. Yes it was full of debris but I know how to replace myself, just hadn't gotten around to it so I said no. The person at the desk said "ok but it's going to be really noisy if you don't". So instead of tapping the filter on the garbage can on the way back, they shoved it back in with all the debris so of course it was noisy! It was not sounding like that when I drove it there! When I got home had to clean the thing out myself to reduce the noise until I could go get a new filter. Never going back.

I bought a 2018 Toyota RAV4 with 19,000 miles on it for my son 6 months ago. Since then, we have had a recurring problem with the ABS sensors, costing me a lot of money to repair. Each lasted a few days before it happened again. When this occurs, all the warning lights come on, and the traction control, anti-lock brakes, and 4WD are all disabled, making it extremely dangerous to drive. I asked Toyota of Mankato to run diagnostics on it free of charge, being that we just bought it and it has only 22,000 miles on it. The used vehicle sales manager refused to even do that. Steer clear of this dealership. Once they take your money, they do not stand behind their vehicles.

My wife and I cannot speak highly enough of Toyota of Mankato. Since 2007 we've bought two vehicles here. Our first was a Rav 4 which unfortunately did not survive an accident and our second one was bought in 2011.Now, as to the quality of Toyota's vehicles. Our second vehicle is a Prius and it will be 12 yrs. old this year. It's has had just basic and recommended servicing since it's purchase and is still going strong at 100k/miles.We've had nothing but great service from this business. We cannot recommend Toyota of Mankato enough!P.s.Marsha Hawker was our sales person both times and she was absolutely the best sales person I've ever had dealings with!

We've given this dealership about half a dozen chances. Hell, we bought a car here. Not anymore. We brought our car in for some routine service. Sat for hours despite an appointment. After it was all done we ran errands in Mankato. As we left town to go home the tire light came on and held steady. We turned around and came back to the dealership. The service department started telling us it was not connected to the service we had done earlier. He berated us for not telling us about the light in the morning appointment. The light had not been on in the morning. Then he said it'll be a hundred dollar charge and at least a half-hour wait. The representative, in slacks and a fancy business casual sweater, got very argumentative. He did yell - as in raising his voice - at us. He also refused to give his name and claimed to go get his supervisor. We've been waiting twenty minutes. In a previous visit, we had the driver of the drop-off car tell us he only ate American food. This is because my son and I casually mentioned we thinking about lunch at a Mexican restaurant. That driver went on to say he just didn't "understand" Spanish food. He refused to believe that Spanish and Mexican food are very different. I was not expecting a side of racism with an offered transport to the mall. Run far away from this dealership. The Toyota dealership in Rochester is the best in the area. Never needed to go up to the cities for service but my family will be doing that from here on out.
