Absolute embarrassment of a company. I was recommended this company to try as an owner operator by a friend, and while it worked for him, it did not work for me. As another review on here already stated, it is a bait and switch, except the recruiter did not mention anything about needing hazmat to haul their embarrassment of a dedicated lane for Brentag. So I was hired on expecting to do that run I was told about but then I couldn't do that run because I didn't have my hazmat. So then I had to take more time off to go get my hazmat just to make a mediocre salary. Dispatchers and the recruiter will lie through their teeth and sell their own mother down the river for a buck. My friend that recommended the company to me actually witnessed the recruiter lying to him after I left the company. Their trailers are old and in desperate need of retirement. Every one of their company trucks are Penske rentals and are minimally maintained. I even had to waste my own supplies and time on detailing the truck I rented from them the short time I was there. Their "terminal" is shared with a chemical company warehouse, there's no place to park your truck unless it's a company truck, the inside of the terminal is old, smelly, dingy and nasty smelling, like something from the 70's in desperate need of an update. Their orientation is an absolute joke. The safety department is mismanaged and they'll call and scold you for going over their set speed limit of 68 mph. Also their cameras are always watching and they will scold you if you make any kind of mistake, even if nothing bad happened. No care is taken to make sure the driver is happy and the owner is so desperate for drivers, he would release weekly videos encouraging company drivers to go strike up conversations with other drivers at truck stops, lying to them about how "great" it is to work at Styer, meanwhile you get a bonus if you actually recruit a sucker. I had a problem with trying to get my paperwork in to make sure I got paid the next week on time, and when I mentioned to the payroll lady about how I needed to try to make as much money as possible as the lanes I was put on weren't paying as much as I was told they would, I was responded with "well you knew what you were signing up for". By all means everyone, avoid this place like the plague!!!!

I would not recommend this trucking company to anyone. They will bait and switch you. When I hired on I had an agreement of a certain dedicated lane I would run. The company didn't honor their word. Unless you get agreements in writing do not trust what they tell you.

I haven't been to this company in person, but my experience was a phone call to the recruiting department, I called two or Three times and left a voicemail and no one called.

Russ Simon of Styer Transportation has gone above and beyond to help out our Boy Scout troop with an Eagle Scout project. He opened the Styer warehouse on a cold Saturday in February so that we could work inside the heated warehouse. We couldn't have completed the project without Styer's help!

I have been driving for 26 years, both as owner operator and company driver. I have driven for large companies and small ones too. In that time I have learned that most trucking companies are all the same. Styer is different in one way that is important to me.The people, including the owners and upper management, care about me as a driver and a person. They have an air of integrity I have not noticed in any of my former employers. That keeps me there. The problems we encounter in the trucking business are still there. But the management do their best to stick up for the driver and can commiserate when there is nothing to be done but work through the issue. If you want to be part of a 'team' where you are important to management and not just a 'driver', then come to Styer. If you treat them the way you want them to treat you, you will not be disappointed.

Russ Simon, the Vice President of Operations has gone out of his way to help our nonprofit organization. They have donated reefer trailers to support the work we do in blessing the poor in cities with food all over the state of MN. Not only have they donated the trailers, but they have donated the tractor, driver, the fuel and from time to time even food. I have known Russ for many years and the level of generosity is unparalleled. I can assure you that when I need transport, they will get the business every time! I say thank you to the entire organization and highly recommend them for your next transport.

Do not work here if you have any type of self respect. They will treat their minority drivers like you do not matter. This company has many brown nosers and drivers that with complain about other drivers and if you are a minority you will be berated and treated unfairly. Styer transportation does not care about drivers they are only concerned with their finances. After this review there will be many brown noses they put up to give a counter review but as a driver that's been employed here for over a year I will tell you now run from this company they do support rasicm and they are family operated their Operations manager Russ is completely against you from the start if your not the company color. If you enjoy trucking companies to mess with your dac report and lie to you this is a great opportunity to jump start your career and end it in one run. It took me an entire year to catch on to this debauchery.
