Greg is the best at fixing old Volkswagen. My wife has a 1976 VW Beetle. The depth Greg goes through diagnosing and keeping it running smooth is miles better than all the other mechanics we tried first. He is very professional, and runs a clean shop. Thank you so much!

They are out to take advantage of customers. They robbed me of $535.00. I took my car in for repairs. The mechanic who has 40 years of experience, knew that the engine was going out (because it was making a loud clanging noise) insisted on replacing my brakes and serpentine belt. I spent $535 and 5 days later the engine died. I told him it was making a loud noise, he could hear the loud clanging noise. But, ignored that problem and said I needed brakes, a serpentine belt and new tires. I did not agree with the new tires and did not purchase tires (thank God). But, he robbed me of $535 for brakes and the serpentine belt. I just want ****, the owner, to stop robbing people. AND, I want my MONEY RETURNED!!!

As someone who has never been a fan of mechanics, it feels odd to me that I have anything bad to say about Sm1th Import Auto :) I have been nothing but impressed with all aspects of this shop. They are fair, honest, trustworthy, talented with a wrench, and will do whatever they can to help you out. Roughly 6 months after they installed an alternator, it seemed like the voltage output was low to me. I expected pushback on fixing it as it was on the edge of being in spec - but it was handled very smoothly and easily and at no additional cost to me (fully replaced, not just repaired). They have loaners (they ain't pretty, but they get you around), so you can drop your vehicle off and let them get to it when they have time. I highly recommend this shop and whatever tasks I don't take on myself will be headed right here!

I can't say enough about the guys at Smith Import. After living abroad for a few years, our family returned to Hopkins and had to purchase two vehicles. We snagged a pair of 2011 VWs that had been part of the recall and had since been refurbished and resold. We love so much about our cars, BUT as everyone knows, these can be prone to some odd problems.My relationship with Smith Import started when we were planning a road trip and wanted a good, reliable once-over (admittedly, fairly short-notice). They were able to fit me in within the week, they got to know my car, checked everything over well, and were clear and honest about what did (and what did NOT) need to be done. I appreciated the transparency and honesty so much!Since then, I've had both our vehicles in a few times. Most recently, our second VW had an issue with the sound system - the system was still getting power, but the factory unit just... quit. They were able to get our car in, get ahold of the part, and get everything installed so smoothly. When there WAS a glitch in the process (the part that had been delivered had not arrived with the proper code to pair with the car), they were willing to work with me to make it right. They did what they had to do to finish the installation completely, and honor their contract, and they kept us as very happy customers.They communicate well, I never have to wonder what is or isn't happening with my vehicle while it is in for service. Their prices are extremely competitive. All of these factors combined with their convenient location AND their awesome work doggos that hang out and greet visitors have made us repeat customers that recommend Smith Imports to anyone looking for auto care.Services: Auto engine tuning
