I went here yesterday, 6/7/24 at 11:30am, with my autistic 8 year old. I normally go to Blaine, but had other errands that put me closer to the Forest Lake location. I love that they have a freezer section, but am not as familiar with the layout. Some days my son is a perfect angel and great listener. Other days, he can exhibit OCD tendencies, elopement, poor listening, etc. Yesterday was a little tough for him since he was SO excited to get water balloons and candy. The other customers were smiling at us as we went thru the store. I have mobility issues due to severe pain from 28 years of injuries so keeping up with him can be difficult. He was being very grabby with items, picking at labels and stickers while I'm stopping him constantly throughout the store. There was a long wait at the register so he needed a lot of reminders to not do the aforementioned behaviors. He had taken some items off the rack behind us in the checkout line. I was trying to hide them from him so I set them on the shelf behind us right by where they belong. The cashier (Carrie) became nearly enraged and demanded I hand her the items and gave me the death stare when I tried to explain that he's autistic and both items go back right next to where I set them. She told me that her "stepson is fully autistic, we just clean up after him in stores". I gave her the items, she snatched them away and threw them in her return basket. I found 2 more items he snuck into the cart and handed them to her and I was again given the death stare. After everything was rang up I realized I had gone overbudget by 5 items (bought 27 items) and told her I needed to take off said items. Carrie practically threw a fit because she would have to call the manager who was on break. I said I was sorry, I lost track with all of my son's grabbing stuff. She rolled her eyes and angrily called the manager, then saw it was just 5 items so she could do it herself. As I was paying and grabbing bags, my son peeled an EBT sticker off the wood part under the register and stuck it to his arm. I said, "OH no buddy, that's not yours, you can't have that." Then I stuck it on the payment area for her to deal with as I'm walking away to keep up with my son and get out of the way for the next customer. She snatched it up and said, "unbelievable" and shook her head. The final purchase total was $42.88. I hope it made Carrie feel better to try to humiliate, demean, and treat an autistic boy and his mom like total garbage because she felt overwhelmed by the fact that they were very busy and short staffed. I hope it made Carrie's day better to act like a rude, judgemental, superior, grace-less, incompassionate jerk. I was so polite to you during your regrettable behavior and attitude fit, but that doesn't mean it was acceptable by any means. I've worked in retail, food service, insurance and mental health fields. I never would treat someone the way that Carrie did. Seriously, genuinely, get some professional help Carrie, and maybe find a field where you don't have to interact with people so much.
Edit: Carrie Major actually replied and it's just as rude and judgemental as the initial interaction. Way to double down Carrie. You obviously didn't read this fully to begin with and you still don't understand what you did was wrong, rude, judgemental, incompassionate and the opposite of good customer service. You don't need to know every detail of someone's life in order to do your job appropriately. Meaning, you have no idea about me, my son(s), or how I parent. You are supposed to do your job, not judge and demean your customers because, apparently, you are a 100% perfect parent and every single trip to the store seems to go swimmingly for you. Kudos to you for being SO incredibly perfect that you feel entitled to judge and demean others. Bravo. FYI, I was putting things away throughout the store and always try to. He didn't make any messes or running a muck in any way. I'm alwa

Had just entered the store when Marise told me to leave my bag at the entrance as the location had been experiencing theft lately. Went to leave my bag by the door and was confronted by her male coworker, with gray hair and glasses, who framed me as stealing though I was following directions of Marise. Was quite frustrating, as Marise chose to only redirect me, and she specified it had to do with my age and appearance.

I have a fully autistic son, non verbal in fact! He's 11 & often wants to run out into traffic & put his hands on the top of the stove while it's on. We don't let him run out into traffic, we also discourage him from burning his hands on the stove top. We also don't let him deface stores, or make a mess for others to clean up. I'm not that entitled to where I'd let my son autistic or not make huge messes & deface store property. It's no one's job to clean up after him or discourage him from touching things he shouldn't except me as a parent. I definitely wouldn't blame a cashier at a store for my lack of parenting or thinking me or my autistic child has some sort of entitlement to wreck store property. If i take my eyes off my son for 1 second, he could hurt himself, someone else, break something. Me? Im always glad for a second set of eyes. Lazy parenting could mean something bad for us. I dont let my son wreck things, if he grabs something? I put it back! It's BECAUSE im in customer service that i would never leave a mess or harass my fellow customer service workers & that i always have good store etiquette at stores! I don't use my sons disability as a crutch for sympathy & lazy parenting.

It's a Dollar Tree.
Usually, they have what you're looking for. Check pricing since nothing is really just a dollar anymore! Always check the quality of your merchandise. But you get what you pay for. Store could use a little cleaning.

Lady working the register today 6/6/24 around 1 o clock was the most unpleasant customer service worker I have ever interacted with. If there is upper management at this location they should seriously consider monitoring her interactions with customers because she was also yelling at another lady when I walked in.

The store is generally never clean. There is ALWAYS large carts of items out to be stocked, but never anyone actually stocking the items. Most of the employees at this particular store are rude and never smile. They make you feel as though you are an inconvenience or shopping at their store. Unfortunately they are in the wrong profession (customer service).

This is the worst Dollar Tree I have ever been to. It was a mess, nothing organized. Just being in the store increased my anxiety.

The store was nice and mostly clean and organized.Unfortunately the lady running the register was quite the crab. Took her 10 minutes to come help after the only one ringing with 10 people in line called for her. She should really look into a job that doesn't deal with people. She is NOT a people person! Short orange/gray hair. No smile. Unhappy. If you see this person, steer clear!
