We did a 4-day partial outfitting and had an absolute blast, and much of that is because we went with Way to Go Canoe Outfitters. They were super helpful with useful advice for a first-time BWCA traveler and most importantly had tons of first-hand information when providing route options and campsites that were geared towards our interests/time. Transportation to the launching point was in a comfortable van, and they were very prompt when picking us up when our trip was over. The night before we stayed at their lodging and is a super comfortable and affordable option, especially for large groups. Everyone we spoke and dealt with was super friendly. We will definitely go with them for our next BWCA trip. Thanks so much Jeff and Donna!

You are in the best hands with Jeff and Donna at Way To Go--they are highly knowledgeable and competent but also friendly, patient and incredibly well-organized. Their orientation is fun and loaded with important information. They'll take whatever time is needed to help you plan the best trip for your particular group and experience level. Their lodging is spotless, charming and very comfortable. And once you're out in the woods, you will see that their equipment is top-notch, and that everything they told you was spot-on. We highly recommend Way To Go and look forward to another wonderful adventure with them!

If possible we would give Donna and Jeff 6 stars! Family of 4 from Europe, little experience in canoeing and no experience in BWCA. We depended to 100% on a perfect service. Waytogo over achieved our expectations in every aspect. We received a comprehensive (but not boring!) introduction and were equipped with top material. We had great 4 days @ BWCA thanks to waytogot! Thank you very much!

This is the place to go. Super helpful, prompt, and the best prices in town. They took an hour out of their day to locate a lost item for us, above and beyond what normal outfitters would do. Highly recommended!

We did the 1/2 hour guided tour and Jake’s knowledge was amazing from the animals, what grows on the BWCA to the different lakes and the saving of our beautiful lakes , animals and the pollution that man has created. We had a snack during our trip and relaxed for a few minutes and took the beautiful views in . I am NOT a winter person but I told my husband I may need to go on the dog sledding adventure with the Chilly Dogs some winter.

Jeff and Donna run a smooth operation. Thier all inclusive package is one of the best prices in Ely. If you want a vacation that lifts the weight of planning and preparation out of your hands, give Jeff and Donna a call and they will hook you up. They have over 4 decades of experience in the boundary waters and Jeff can talk you through building the perfect trek for any group size, regardless of skill, age, or activity preference. The skill and expertise of this outfitter is truly outstanding.

Jeff and Donna went above and beyond for us. A group of 7 guys, ages 49-68, we were targeting a tow across Moose Lake and a paddle to Knife. The problem was half of Knife was closed days before our trip because of the Spice Lake Fire. At 5:00 AM , I was texting with Jeff, who had found a newly available entry permit for the South Kawishiwi River (#32). Jeff and Donna tagged team a quality presentation to prep us for our trip (pointing out fishing hotspots and more). They took their time and we never felt rushed. The accommodations for our night before were extremely clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We had access to packs throughout the evening, so we could swap packs to get exactly what we needed. With the no open fire declaration, Jeff & Donna altered the plan and sent us in with a two burner stove which helped us with cooking 4 meals of Walleye. The fishing was very good. The other gear met all of our needs, was clean and in good condition. We arrived at our exit point an hour ahead of time and texted Jeff. Donna showed up in 15 minutes to pick us up. This outfitter is literally the Way to Go. We will definitely continue to utilize Way To Go Outfitters.

There is a reason Donna and Jeff at Way to Go Outfitters get 5 star reviews on TA. They know what they are talking about. Whether it’s gear, routes, campsites, food, fishing, paddling technique, permits or anything BWCA related listen to them if you want to have a fantastic time. I contacted Jeff and Donna over a year ago to start planning for a five day, self guided, trip for eight. Two of the group had been to the BWCA with the Scouts and the rest of us were first timers. Jeff and Donna were professional, responsive, and their attention to detail was impressive. As part of our all-inclusive package they hosted us for about three hours the day prior to brief us and familiarize us with all gear and our route. They were very patient with us new guys and all of our questions. Everything was expertly packed, clean and maintained in great condition. I suggest the lighter Kevlar canoes, btw, unless you want a real workout. We stayed in their bunkhouse the night before we launched and on our return. The facilities, including their shop, were also well maintained, organized and spotless. It’s obvious this family cares about, and enjoys, what they do. Thank you again to Jeff, Donna, Phil, and Zack for making this an unforgettable expedition to the backcountry. Keep up the good work.

Knowledgeable and friendly guides. Learned so much about the area where we paddled. The guides want visitors to love the area as well and learn how to enjoy nature responsibly. Guides are easy to talk to and easy going and funny!! I will definitely book another tour with Jake and Jeff!!

We rented a canoe for a few days in July 2019. They helped us load the canoe on top of our rental car and showed us how to load and unload ourselves. We visited a few places they suggested for day trips and had a great time. Jeff and Donna were both friendly and very helpful. We hope to return someday for longer stays and maybe even longer canoe trips.

Absolutely incredible outfitters, especially for two first-timers. They helped us with rentals, route planning, training and orientation, fishing supplies, shuttle service, and safety. We had a smooth, amazing trip. Their customer service is excellent, their wisdom and knowledge of the BWCAW is stellar. Next time I go out, I'll be asking to go through Way to Go again and I hope others do as well. Outstanding service!

Way to Go Outfitters is really the only way to go! Before choosing an outfitter, I carefully read every review in Trip Advisor. Way to Go had by far the best reviews. We did a 4 hr canoe trip with Jake as our guide and those 4 hours were hands down the best 4 hours of our one month, 16 state vacation! We are a city dwelling senior citizen couple without prior canoeing experience and that short time with Jake convinced me that we could return for a multi-day trip. I can’t say enough good things about Jake—he is everything you would want in a guide (and more) and he absolutely loves what he does! I also want to return in the winter for dog sledding!
