It’s been years since I have been here, but I came in recently with my chinchilla for a second opinion as her condition was worsening & Dr. Amanda was so kind, caring and helpful during our exam. The CVT and front desk staff were also so kind with us.My chinchilla was drooling, favoring one side while eating and overall looked worrisome, and she wasn’t responding to previous treatments from a different vet, and Dr. Amanda confirmed my worry of dental issues and contacted another vet for me, who she knows has more experience in chinchilla dentals for another exam and for us to make a treatment plan with this other vet depending on what this other vet finds (thank you for being so open and honest). While our third visit with this other specialist didn’t have a good outcome, I’m thankful we were referred to them.I can’t thank Dr. Amanda enough for her empathy, kindness and honesty.

All the staff has been wonderful at Barrington oaks so far. We moved to elk river a few years ago and have been going to there shot clinic at the fire station and just had to being our 11 year old dog in for a lump in his mouth. They have been great through the whole process. I haven't felt like they are trying to up sell me on a bunch of stuff that we don't need. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to a friend!

Worst experience ever. Even though they say they take urgent care during business hours and we had been going there for years….they made me wait 45 minutes before telling me they would not see us. And my dog had a quarter size sweeping wound. If you are looking for care or compassion this is not the place for you.

I like the staff here but am horribly disappointed in the cost of bringing my pet here. I had an office visit and was extremely surprised at the charge. When I called another veterinarian locally, I found the total bill to be over 50% higher at Barrington Oaks. Some of the charges were over twice the cost as the other veterinarian. A prescription (not included in this bill) was seven times higher than what Costco charges. I question a procedure that was previously done on my pet. I understand the cost of doing business, but this is extreme. I hope they look at their pricing policies and put our pets first.

A great place to bring your pets. The staff is friendly and care about your animals. They even care for snakes.

Amazing vet. Did an amazing job on my dog when she needed surgery to get some teeth pulled out and also took me in during an emergency when my cat had her kittens. I called multiple vets and they would not help me but barrington oaks called me back within minutes and didn't hesitate helping me. I'm greatful for this vet and highly suggest and recommend. Thank you guys,??? I'd be giving a 100 star if possible.

Writing bad reviews sucks. I had to think about this one for awhile. On one hand, I trusted BOVH for literally years (an 8-year loyal customer) for two dogs - one more medically complex and also utilized their grooming services. And it was fine. A few bumps along the way but always gave another ‘chance’ because no one is perfect and things do happen. However, after several instances of coming in for one service and my dog walking out with additional services done that cost extra without my knowing, I had to say no more. They are for sure not the cheapest but we had established care there and I felt comfortable with the vets and techs we saw. I will say that the health and well-being of my dogs were never in jeopardy and they were always really kind and caring to them. Never an issue with the actual care of their health. However, taking good care of any animals comes with an expense and I could not handle going in for something that is $50 and coming out hundreds later and left with a “too bad so sad” response. After several instances, talking to them, explaining to multiple team members there, and ultimately having absolutely nothing done to remedy the situationS (note plural), we had to be done. I’m thankful that I was able to be a loyal customer there, literally spending thousands over several years to ensure my dogs had great care, but in the end I felt really taken advantage of and that my many years of loyalty were for nothing. I can think of one vet, one tech and one receptionist that I so loved and they knew us well (you totally know who you are!), but there is more than the dogs in this equation and it simply became unreasonable. I’m happy that we found care somewhere else that seems like it will be a great fit, and even though we spent so much time and money over the years here, I can’t say I would recommend. I don’t even know if 2 stars is accurate, but I know that they really don’t care about the freakin stars anyways. In the end, it’s more about the dollars.

DO NOT BRING YOUR EXOTIC PETS HERE !!! If I could I would give negative starts. I took my parrot there after it had issues with his leg. After some blood work and a very hefty fee we were told that my bird has a kidney disease and gout. that he will not last long and we can give him medications and if we choose to do daily flush therapy at $75.00 per treatment. We ordered the meds -including very strong pain medication which would leave my bird like a zombie. Took him for flush therapy twice and decided to get a 2nd opinion. Before I did that I tried calling the vet with questions and she should never call me back jus have me go back and forth with her assistant. When I went into the clinic I asked if I could ask the vet a couple of questions regarding my bird condition and I was told she do didn't have the time and again to ask her assistant. 99.9% of the answers were "we don't know". The second vet sat me down explained the test results, x-rays and ultrasound and answered all the questions I had to make understand what was wrong with my bird. Even called me back the next day to answer some additional. Even though my bird will not be long with us he doesn't need to be on the medication prescribed or pain meds. And I got a totally different diagnosis. Now he home being himself, dancing, eating and playing living his best life the last few weeks/months he got.

Every single employee here is kind, knowledgeable, goes above and beyond, and treats you with respect. I am impressed with the level of care they’ve given my cat (even when I don’t stay current on her annual visits). Absolutely recommend BOVH to all!

Brought my puppy in for a punctured eye. I got there 40 mins before her appointment and they took her in. They really care about animals and it shows! My little puppy was well taken care of ?

I went for a follow up vaccine appointment for my puppy. I was told in the office that he missed the booster window and we would need to restart the distemper/Lyme vaccines. I had called the previous week to see if I could reschedule. No cutoff window was mentioned. Had I known, I would have brought him in! The receptionist put me on hold to double check and came back with a no problem we can reschedule. I felt I should not have to pay the $150 again. I told this to the tech, who was very kind. He related this to the Dr, who did not come in and talk to me. She said no. He came back in and I advised again I did not agree. He checked with her again and said the board would review, but would still need to give the shots and get back to me. She still did not come and talk to me. I made the decision to leave. I am just starting at a vet and I don’t want to run into bigger issues in the future. Very unprofessional service. At the very least, the Dr should have made an effort to relay the info.
