They are the most amazing group of people! Brought my dog in with a swollen paw. No break. They didn't assume sprain and send us home. His behavior was off. So they ran more tests. I'm so very grateful for everyone who helped my big buddy today. Jackie was especially sweet to us! Thank you all

We brought in our rabbit for a routine teeth shortening visit in early 2023 and picked him up a few hours later to find him unable to walk or move his lower legs. Later, X-rays confirmed he had a broken back. The vet claimed they had no idea what happened. They then recommended and charged us for two laser therapy treatments that did not help. We are never bringing our pets here again.
I waited a long time to leave this review because my family has been upset and I didn’t want to leave a review when the emotions were so raw. It’s now been a year, and I owe it to our family and our pet.

Update: it was in fact her teeth after seeing another vet who then referred me to another specialist who has more experience with dental work and both of these last two vets were so kind and helpful - my chinchilla was suffering for weeks because we were treating a “stomach issue” for 10 days and not the real issue at first & then waiting for these other appointments. She has since been put to sleep due to the pain, severity & suffering. Please take your chinchillas to the cities for major concerns/drooling issues.I wasn’t going to review, until I got a letter from them terminating our “client relationship”. Worth the read if you have chinchillas.I’ve brought my other chinchillas here a few years ago, and have had chinchillas for over a decade. I recently brought my third chin in because her food was dust like and she had some drool under her chin with watery eyes - so I thought her teeth might be too long or something else such as malo or stomach issues. They were able to take her as a drop off on short notice which was nice because my work schedule is tough to work around.I dropped her off at 11:15am and picked her up around 5:30pm on 1/11/24.They called around 2pm stating her teeth were fine, but possibly a stomach issue so they recommended a fecal, and we did that, later I got a call her gut ph was off and she will be ready with medicine soon. When I picked her up, they mentioned they were feeding her fresh lettuce and she was eating fine and kept referring to her as “him”. I questioned why she was eating fresh veggies as in the past this same doctor recommended against it - they told me to trust Dr. Jina. I stated I would like to talk to her (as I was talking to a vet tech and receptionist), because I have questions and told them I don’t plan to feed her fresh veggies going forward and that she’s never had this type of food before. Instead of having the doctor come talk with me, like they said they would, they brought me a “brochure” as they called it (it’s literally a typed word doc) on why chinchillas need fresh veggies - not even a professional brochure. They told me to trust her, and at that point I referenced the bad reviews about exotics passing away after going here and that it’s hard to trust a doctor who wouldn’t come out and talk to me & who previously recommended against this type of food and that I’m losing trust in her from this visit. I also mentioned that I was unhappy they fed my pet something without asking when I brought her with hay and sticks for her short stay. The receptionist and the vet tech then just stared at me for a couple minutes, waiting for me to leave - I had to REMIND THEM to bring me my pet, so I could leave.I used to recommend this place, but would not anymore, especially for exotics. it’s pretty bad when you question the recommendations & bring up reviews that they then terminate the client relationship.Lastly - they didn’t even pay attention when writing up her discharge paperwork, why on earth would she eat a Carnivore diet & what is Carnivore Care? Should be critical care. She also was eating, so idk why they kept referring to her as not eating / must syringe feed her.

They dont say on their website anywhere that kids aren’t allowed. As a single mom, I go to pick up my rabbits after their procedure, with my daughter, and they made me leave her outside on the window sill, watching in. They only have a sign on the door saying kids aren’t allowed.

I took my dog to Animal & Exotic for an ear infection! Have been there in the past and been very happy, this time after 3 visits and $1200 They finally sent a culture out! Got the call about the results and after they said it would be another $200 for the recommended treatment I said i would have to think about it. Called back in 2 days and was told that I should go to a different vet! Was charged each visit for Slides of the bacteria each time (even the time they sent out the culture) being told that is the only way they could know what they were fighting! This Vet use to care about the animal being treated and even would call to see how they were, Not any more it has turned into just a money making venture! I know I am not the only one that feels this way as have heard of other that will not go back there! Even the person that referred me has left for the similar reasons! Too bad used to be a good place!

Not impressed. Left message during business hours and had to call again for an appt (7 hours later) only to discover they want a referral from my current vet. I love my vet and not looking to leave there, just wanted a chiropractor appt for my puppy! Not worth the hoops!

I was so grateful we were able to get our bengal cat because someone else had canceled. She had been really sick for 3 days. She was so lethargic I thought she was dying. They were able to diagnose her bladder infection in a timely manner. Prices comparable to our normal vet.Previously in the week we had taken her to an emergency vet. Where they took our money, but no diagnoses.Thank you Animal & Exotics. This is a pic of our kitty before and then just 2 hours after our appointment.

I'm witing this under a different account to avoid being "black-listed" as others have dealt with sadly. I've heard many stories of "being denied service due to a bad review". I loved you guys beforehand, but upon seeing another vet recently I have discovered that you guys were abusing my cats during visits. Dr. Jina was purposefully pushing on my cats arthritis area during visits to make her listen and accept "shots and nail clippings". She would always hate me after these appointments.Recently, I went to a different vet & they did all of this in-front of me. My cat had no issues, and would only hiss upon the shots & clippings of nails. I'm disgusted, being young and new to taking my own animals to vets and just now discovering that you have NO CLUE how to handle a cat that has issues. Sure, blacklist me; I honestly dgaf anymore as to how you see me. You are shady as hell, and cost way too much. GO TO BARRINGTON OAKS, THEY LOVE YOUR ANIMALS AND DONT CARE ABOUT MONEY. THEY CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUR ANIMAL.

Dr. Jina Andrews-Neiderer had our german shepherd on ivermectin for over 5 months despite his condition worsening to the point of considering euthanasia. We stopped seeing her and went to UMN vet school where we were told that it was killing him and he didn’t even have mange to begin with. Please for the love of god do not see this woman who calls herself a “doctor”. Don’t even think about replying to this saying you have no record of ‘caring’ for him. we were seen 2018-2019 and have every single receipt; wasted 5 months dealing with her bssave your dog and go to the U! :)

At the beginning when this Vet opened this was the best place to go. A Vet who truly cared about the animals. Now about 10 yrs. later I feel the quality of care has dropped to being very poor. For 1 you can't get an appointment for weeks. I scheduled to bring my dogs in for an exam, + heatworm tests it was 3 weeks to get them in, took them 4 days to give the results for the fecal tests. One week after their exams my oldest dog developed a lump by his tooth ( I thought it was some kind of abscess ) And it was infected, so I called and talked to them about it, was told we could set up a surgery in 3 weeks, then 3 days after I set the appointment for surgery the infection was worst, and the lump had gotten bigger. I called again wanted him looked at right away, and antibiotics for the infection. They of course had no openings that day, I insisted they see him so they finally agreed to get him in near the end of the day. He was diagnosed with having a Melanoma in his mouth, that appeared to be fast growing ( since there was no sign of it during his exam ) finally got some antibiotics, kept the surgery date and went home. 4 days later the infection was better, 6 days later on a Saturday it more than doubled in size, he was having trouble breathing. I took him to emergency where I had to put him to sleep. It gotten so bad there was nothing that could be done for him. The emergency vet said that this should have been dealt with sooner and not put off for 3 weeks. I understand that even after the surgery it could have come back, but if it was taken care of right away, given some priority he might have had some chance. Will NEVER go back there.

I have taken my Leopard Geckos to see them before for some skin issues they have always been amazing. I had to take Rocco my male Gecko in for what I thought was compaction after I had soaked him and did what I could. Turns out the little guy had a tumor and besides force feeding him I couldn't let him go through that because he would pass anyway. I was pretty upset but the staff was so supportive and gave me a few options one putting him down and they explained the process so he wouldn't suffer. In the end I put him down and they even took care of his ashes for me at a pet cemetery. About a week later I got such a sweet condolence card from Jina and her team, it really touched my heart how caring they are. I HIGHLY recommend them. It does take some work to get an appointment but, they are the only gig in town that treats reptiles for a fair price, plan ahead and please be patient with the staff they do everything they can for you.

After Dr.Jina failed to do the very basic reptile care, two weeks after his visit he died.Every exotic vet would have completed at least three tests to properly diagnose: she did none. Let me repeat that: she failed to do one test SINGLE TEST on our obviously sick reptile. Now he is receiving a necropsy to confirm cause of death.Avoid this vet at all costs if you are seeking proper care.Dr. Jina, if you reply to my review with: "weHave no record of your visit," I will post my receipt and prove you did not recommend an x-ray, of which you lied to my partner about. Because your recommendation was to get a fecal, but that was impossible because he had an impaction, which if you had done your job, you would have found this out through the x-ray BEFORE HE DIED VIOLENTLY AND SUFFERING IN AGONY.Oh, but you did recommend feeding him more, until he died because of his impaction.

Terrible care. Failed to do the very minimum which caused the death of our beloved pet. And then tried to blame us. Formal complaints are being filed at the state board. Unethical.
