Finding CARspec was like finding $500 tumbling around in your dryer, every time you open it. John’s attention to detail and ability to diagnose and fix any issue is truly remarkable. I will only bring my Lexus GS to CARspec. I don’t care how long the wait is or if I have to schedule 6 months out just for an oil change- John is that good. I am a customer for life.

Got a check engine light, which gave us a code for a bad catalytic converter on my 2017 Lexus with 60,000 miles. I called up John and told him I'd like to get it checked out. On the phone, John told me that the catalytic system is covered by an 8 year, 80,000 mile warranty which I was not aware of. Rather than taking my business and charging me out of pocket, John recommended I head to the Lexus dealer to get it diagnosed under warranty. Just got back from the dealer today and am having my catalytic converter and associated components replaced entirely under warranty.
John could have easily not informed me of the extra warranty, and taken my business for me to pay out of pocket, but we saved me money and time by going to the dealership and getting the work covered. This is the second time I have called up John just for advice and both times I was never asked to come in, or talked down to. I will be turning to Carspec for ALL of my Lexus or Toyota needs in the future.

John has worked with my cars for about 10 years. He is honest and trustworthy. When it was time to purchase a new car, we decided to stay in the Toyota family so we could continue to send it to CarSpec.
Recently, my Toyota Highlander was making a weird noise so I took it to John. John gave me the news that he thought it was a transmission issue. My car was less than 1,000 out of warranty and this was a known issue with Toyotas. He advised me to take it to the dealership and elevate it to corporate. The dealership misdiagnosed the issue and I insisted that it was a transmission issue as John said and they didn’t believe me. They “fixed” the issue and the car made the noise as soon as I drove off the lot. I drove it back and told the dealership that they didn’t fix the correct issue. They diagnosed it again and lo and behold, it was a transmission issue just as John said.
I was truly grateful for John because he walked me through the entire process. I really wouldn’t trust my car with anyone else.

Very poor customer service. I’m not sure if they are trying to build an exclusive and private customer base but they are turning down new customers and not even offering to schedule for future opening weeks or months out. You need to be apart of the “club” or “referral program”. Don’t waste your time if you’re a new customer.
I’ll be bringing my Lexus to the dealership and not have to jump through hoops to be apart of the Carspec club

John and his team are great to work with. Knowledgeable, take time to explain and teach you, and offer all options to you in order of importance of repairs. We drive here from Stillwater for our Prius and 80’s series LC because it’s such great service. Thank you, John and team! ☺️?

CARspec is truly your dealer alternative. If you have a repair that isn’t covered under warranty or extended service contract you should seriously consider working with John at his shop.1) 100% transparent pricing up front that is often FAR LESS than the dealer,2) options on repair taking into account the age of your vehicle,3) loaner Prius,4) one of the BEST customer experiences you could have!The dealer estimated to repair a rear differential leak was $2,800. Jon clearly explained that the real estimate would vary depending on the technique he could use specific to the age and model/year of the car (2007 Lexus GS350 AWD). He outlined the best (lowest cost, most likely), middle, and worst (highest cost, least likely) scenarios. If this sounds like a doctor’s visit then you are right. Some repairs on older cars (16 year old vehicle) will have many variables to deal with including different technique depending on the condition and year of your vehicle. The final bill was just under $1,400! Save your money and deal with an absolute professional that knows what he is doing. You will not be disappointed!
