Understaffed, expensive, and incredibly uncaring during an emergency situation. Do not go here for their "urgent care".

Updated 1/6/24 Dr. Pop was very helpful. I brought my dog in because she was lethargic, vomiting, leaking fluid from her rear and lost a lot of weight. It turned out she has a deadly infection. The nurse/assistant fell in love with her and treated her like a queen. 12 hours after the first round of antibiotics and my dog is acting normal and most important she is eating for the first time after 3 days. The bill was hefty for a modest working class person but it’s worth it to see my dog in less pain. Update to the above, Two weeks later doctor pop was on point for me to find a small town vet, we don’t have to many in my area I found one and he was awesome.

They'll get done what needs to get done, and the staff was friendly to us, but they're waaayyy overpriced. There are way better vet clinics in the area. I'd only go here if it was an absolute emergency and no where else had openings. We thought the price was high because we have an "exotic pet," but other vet clinics are still much cheaper.

If you want to have your pet killed asap bring it to this place. I heard so many reviews and bad bad reputations for 7 years of this evil place. Multiple people have told me their experience that Dr pop is money hungry and doesn’t care about animals. Many animals have died here and this place should be shut down ASAP. The workers here are not licensed to save animals. beware!!!!

If your pet has a medical problem, they can find the problem and take care of it

I brought my elder dog in to be put to sleep. She's been my friend for 14 years. It was unexpected and I had to do some financial finagling to cover the cost and the staff was super understanding, kind, and up front about the prices. They were very empathetic, putting a blanket around my dog, letting me sit with her alone as she went to sleep and be there in her final moments. I felt like they had respect and understanding for what I was going through and made it the best experience they could have.

I've read a lot of negative reviews and I don't understand. Seemed like most dealt with the bill. It is high but, it's an emergency clinic. Anyway, I thought the staff was very polite and professional. They took care of my little guy and diagnosed his problem quickly and efficiently. Boz, my dog, seems to be doing much better already and it's only been a few hours.I would like to thank everyone there for help.

Just an update to our horrific experience: Response by Silviu Pop at Waters Edge Vet in Duluth. "Shame on you for being an asshole, but good luck to your media don't ever come back to us. We charge what we are worth. If you want cheap veterinary care, Happy Tails is the clinic for you. Good luck with your life. " Silviu Pop Business manager and part owner of Waters Edge Vet Clinic in Duluth. Classy! Needless to say that they do not have to worry about us ever coming back to Waters Edge Vet Clinic. What a piece of work this guy is. Upon further research Waters Edge Vet Clinic charged 600% over what other vets are charging in the Duluth area. I will let those that read this to decide who may be the asshole in this scenario. Once again, I encourage any pet owner in need of vet services to avoid Waters Edge Vet Clinic like the plague. Upon second thought, the plague may be more appealing. I encourage you to share here if you have had a similar experience with Waters Edge Vet Clinic in Duluth.

We stopped in here with our dog who was having some diarrhea and vomiting while we were traveling. After a $250 "exam" by the vet which did not seem very thorough, she offered no opinions on what might be going on, and a tech or assistant was sent in with laundry list estimates of available tests with no explanation of why we might pick or choose any of them. There was no input from the vet on this either. I am a former vet tech so I have some ability to evaluate this information but I don't know how a layperson possibly could. I'm glad we went in for what ended up being a non-emergent issue, because we are moving to the area and I would not want to unknowingly come here if we were having an actual urgent situation with one of our animals.

Brought my dog to get checked out they said she needs emergency surgery and said that it would cost $6000 I said ok but they wanted the money first so I gave them my cc number and they said it would be too much money to transfer until tomorrow. So they sent me and my dog home,,she will make it through the night. If you love your pet don't waste your money here!

Do not bring your pets to this facility. I mistakenly trusted they had my puppy's best interest in mind, but Waters Edge puts profit before the giving life-saving care.I made the mistake of bringing my sweet little girl four-month-old puppy here the first time when she was seen for a fever and lethargy. They didn't listen when I said she wasn't eating. They gave her oral antibiotics and sent her home, still dehydrated. She didn't take the pills and refused to drink.Several days later I brought her back in because, she couldn't breathe, she was cold to the touch. I begged them to intubate her, to warm her and help her. They wouldn't treat her until I made a down payment on their estimate and signed a bunch of forms that released them from liability. The process took approximately thirty minutes which was time my little one didn't have. She died in their "care." I work in (human) medicine and know that sometimes bad things happen. I wholeheartedly believe this death could have been prevented if they had listened to my concerns when I first brought her in.I spent approximately five thousand dollars (total) for my puppy's care. In comparison, her mother's emergency c-section cost about $1,500.I waited a year before I wrote this review because I wanted to be as objective and factual as I could. I'm still heartbroken but hope to spare someone else the pain I went through. Please, know the hours of the local emergency vet clinic and have a backup plan.

I have two senior rescues that I bring to Waters Edge, and the top notch care that Dr. Pop gives, saved my little Yorkie mix when she would have bouts of being paralyzed as soon as I brought her home from the rescue. Dr. Pop figured it out when another vet missed it, and now we know how to manage it, should it happen again. But since Dr. Pops care, it hasn't happened. My little Yorkie went from having a shriveled up back right leg, and she would have to rock to get up/stand, and now she has normal muscle tone in that leg, and she runs & chases anything that moves! She the tenacious little Yorkie she should be! Fantastic care of my dogs! They are expensive but I feel right in line with other quality vets.

Compassionate, skilled, never had any problems. People that complain about the price- it's like going to the ER versus your regular doctor. You are going to pay more for emergency/urgent care. (There are reviews on here that are from people who like to complain about the cost of same day appointments- that's urgent care!- urgent care will cost you more. Expect that.) Dr. Pop is a WONDERFUL vet and I would recommend her to anyone looking for care for their pet. She's very empathetic and cares about your pet! I also see posts on here complaining about her husband and front end manager, Silviu. We've NEVER encountered any problems with him. But he's not the one caring for your animal, Dr. Pop is. She is the vet, not Silviu. Regarding complaints on here- It's not a fraudulent business practice just because you feel you were overcharged for same day service. And of course they want to see your pet rather than do a curbside consult and be wrong. They are liable if they are wrong, so of course they want to see your pet instead of giving a diagnosis over the phone or giving a prescription without seeing your pet. And if they do give over the phone help, they SHOULD get paid! Think of it like your doctor's office. They have a right to charge for consultations. ASK QUESTIONS. ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS. To those complaining about "being pressured" into services or medications, etc.- you don't have to accept that! But if you do, take responsibility for doing so, don't call later and complain about the bill! When it comes to animals, everyone's emotions are heightened. Just keep that in mind when reading these reviews.

It seems there are people hell bent on getting this business closed due to personal vendettas. I’ve been with Dr. Pop for about 20 years (followed her from another clinic) and LOVE HER. She saved my kitten (who is now 18 years old!), and I’ve NEVER had a bad experience there. Everything gets explained, and they are friendly and professional. My sister also brings her Great Pyrenees there and has only had a positive experience. Dr. Pop is compassionate and cares greatly about and for your pet!
