DIRTY!!!! THATS IT!!! If it wasn't so dirty I'd give it 3 stars. The location is good, but it's run down with duct tape and stained furniture. The carpet stinks and the walls are dirty. I was hoping this would be a 'cute and unique ' place, but it's unique and dirty. The hot tub was under construction, which we weret told when we booked yesterday!!, and the room was not cleaned before we showed up. I called the front desk and they came up with a vaccume because there was so many crumbs and dog hair , which I'm allergic to, so it made it OK since they had no other rooms for us and offered no money back for us to cancel. Also, I want to leave so many photos of the hair on the sheets, crumbs and hair on the floor, peeling paint, dirty walls, and dirty sheets, but they are not giving me a place to upload photos to this review since I put 1 star. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE!Rooms: Run down, dirty, unkept not looked after or cleaned

The first thing i noticed was urine all over the toilet. There was only 1 towel. The room was caked with dust. Sticky substance all over an end table. I tried to have some communication with management, but I have not heard a reply after talking with the front desk and 4 emails sent in the past 3 weeks. Oh.. did i mention pee!Rooms: Unique rooms with pee on toilets.

Check in was easy and efficient. We left our bags in the room and went to dinner and the lake. Coming back and spending time in the hotel we started to notice how dirty it was. Not too bothered by the chair with stains or the sticky water cups, we got ready for bed. The bed sheets were even worse. The sheets had hairs buried below the blankets and they weren’t clean. Too uncomfortable to sleep we talked to the front desk and were promised a refund. The refund fell through and we were ultimately denied our money back. I recommend staying here if you like dirty hotels.

I would never recommend this place to anyone first of all, check in is at 4. We could not check in for another 2 hours due to understaff. Are kitchen sink was leaking underneath. We only had two towels in our room for 4 people My daughter could not even take a Bath. There was no plug for it. The one bed look like a 400 pound person was sleeping in It had a huge divot in it. When you sat on it, it felt like the bed was going to fall apart. did not sleep good at all. The bathroom was so filthy. They're complimentary shampoo and soap was empty in the shower.Only less than a 1/2 a roll of toilet tissue on the roll. 2 sheets of paper towels left on the roll. We moved one of the beds over to the wall. So my daughter didn't roll off the bed Big mistake. There is so much trash under the beds disgusting. Our room was so musty smelling the room was hot a/c did not work We had a room with no window. I felt like I was in a jail. We had trash and linen sitting in our hallway for 3 days This hotel needs hotel impossible for sure !!!! Do not eat the breakfast it was so gross. Their eggs are disgusting french toast was hard We went to get some complimentary coffee and there was none. It was all gone by 8 a .m We highly recommend uncle loui's cafe Wonderful service, great food.Rooms: Do not stay here you will regret it it is not worth price !!!

Hair all over bathtub, dirty sock left in bathroom from people before us, dusty furniture (wipe fingers and leave a trail), dirty cupboards around handles, hair in our bed, this use to be a very nice hotel, now they put all the looks into lobby and not the rooms. New paint, carpet, bathroom update, can do wonders! Then charge every room a "safe fee"? We didn't use the safe or ask to have one in the room. For $271/night I would have went else where knowing what I know now. I will not be back to this hotel.

This place certainly isn’t perfect but I felt it was a great stay in a wonderful area of Duluth. The front desk was friendly and helpful, the hot tub was hot, and the breakfast had a nice selection. Yes, many of the rooms need a remodel but they’re not unlivable by any means and I’ve seen the same kind of room conditions (peeling paint, worn carpet) at the bigger chains where I’ve spent far more money on a room. We had everything we needed for the kitchen and bathroom, and when we needed pool towels the front desk got some to the pool area quickly. This place is historic and charming, I do hope the rooms and cleanliness of the elevator get some tlc but I also hope they keep the historic elements as well. Lots of great restaurants close!

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. The hotel is filthy, gross, and clearly lacks leadership and management. I booked a 2 room, 2 bath condo with jacuzzi that accommodates 8 people for $425 per night . This was a surprise for my wife's birthday, and we invited her family up from southern mn. to enjoy the night. The room was disgusting. The front door lock was broken. The carpet had not been vacuumed for days it appeared. There were stains in the toilet, hair in the shower. There were exactly 2 towels, and 2 wash cloths for the entire condo, for a place that sleeps 8. The furniture was old, worn, and outdated. The pull-out couch had a broken spring. The toss pillows were stained. There was a sticky substance on the bathroom floor. The bedroom curtains were broken. The return air vent on the wall was caked with dirt and dust. The jacuzzi had a ring around the tub, and sand on the floor. The 32" standard TV in the main area, did not work! You would think a place this size would at least have a 55" - 65" tv for entertaining 8 guests? I went down to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. I was told managers were not working on the weekend. What? I asked the front desk to call the manager at home. I was told they did not answer, but would leave detailed notes in my account, so they could call me the next day, or the following day. It's been 5 days, and no one has called. I was offered a $50 room credit. I asked to be moved to a different condo, and there was none available. I called several other hotels in the area to see if I could get a room to accommodate 6 adults, and they were sold out. The front desk employee, Juan, offered to come up and clean the room, and fix the tv. I would give Juan 5 stars for his kindness and efforts to try and help! Bless my wife of 35 years, who still wanted to stay and spend the night with her brothers and sisters, 2 of which woke up at 6am and went home because it was such an uncomfortable room. The 4 of us remaining went to the Social House for breakfast where we enjoyed a great meal in a clean environment. We left the hotel by 9am. 2 guests riding down in the elevator with us said there were no sheets on their bed when they checked in, and the room was dirty as well. If the rooms are this disgusting, I cannot believe the kitchen that prepares the morning breakfast is any better. Maybe the hospitality board in the city of Duluth should pay this hotel a visit. Never again.
