Staff was kind & worked quickly, wax was ultimately painless as she worked quickly & efficiently. She was informative & was also able to recommend a product that seemed built just for me.
There ARE stairs at this location for some of the service rooms, so inform them if you have needs for single level care. Parking immediately by salon, off street so no sidewalk - walk to building either.

My daughter gifted me with a facial here a little over a year ago. It was so much more than I'd first expected! I'd had a facial once before at a prestigious salon in Chicago's famous Watertower Place, and it was not nearly as good as the one I received right here in lil' ol' Duluth, MN at Rue 48! The aesthetician's fingers worked their magic on my face, neck, and shoulders; and although at that Chicago salon I could not properly relax because they hard sell peddled their products at every turn, the aesthetician at Rue 48 in Canal Park was respectful of my boundaries. I had lots of skincare products I had just purchased that I loved and had been using for a long time and my skin was in good condition so she showed me without pushing one bit. The facial made my good skin glow in the best way (as a complement to my glowing personality hahaha!) I'm about to book another appointment, this time for a pedicure. I'll let you know how it goes. Canal Park itself is a must-see on the Duluth waterfront with myriad places of note to please your palate, whet your whistle, shop till you drop, sight-see and more. All that aaaand I recommend the salon!

I came to the salon this weekend to receive hair styling and make-up before a wedding. Starting with the positive, I really liked the way my hair was styled! The stylist, whose name I regrettably don’t recall, asked what I wanted and gave me the very style I had hoped for. She was skilled, efficient and fun to work with, and if I were rating based solely on her services, then this review would have been positive.Unfortunately, the make-up I received from Jessi was so underwhelming that not even the great hair styling I received from her colleague could salvage my experience. I left the salon feeling embarrassed by my make-up, which made me look tired and disheveled. None of it looked symmetric, especially my eyebrows, and the overall look was very unflattering for my skin tone and hair color. In retrospect, I should have been assertive and informed Jessi that I wasn’t satisfied, but I neglected to do so beyond asking her to touch up my eyebrows (they were still asymmetric and off-colored despite her efforts to fix them, though to her credit she did improve them following my request). That is my fault for being too passive. In any case, my make-up was shoddy and not what I would have expected from a reputable salon.Rue 48 can accommodate formal hair styling, but I would avoid this salon for make-up services.
