I for an appointment because I moved. My dogs vet is on Miller Trunk Hwy! Quite a ways to travel. All she needed was a test for the summer season. Her vet care is up to date and she is healthy. I'm in AZ for awhile and I called a random vet and they took her the following week! I know the vet I had in 2007- 2012 at Grand Ave Vet has moved on. I'm just Disappointed.

Terrible receptionists, okay vets. Vet put me through a ton of stress that my cat had a life or death heart situation. Had to go to cities for heart tests; turned out not to be major will have a heart attack any minute like she made it seem. Couldn't they do more intensive tests there? I guess you get what you pay for, meanwhile I'm out $1100 for specialists tests 3 hours away. Other issue: he keeps getting ear infections. Going round and round with receptionists because they gave me two options that conflicted with my work schedule to get him in. All along there was an opening with a different vet the next day I could get him in with. They refused to take accountability for avoiding offering the option with the second vet to get him in sooner rather than offer an appt two weeks later. Apparently continuity with the same vet is more important to them than an animals discomfort. Kept telling me I needed to calm down when asking they take accountability for not offering me the next day appt and insinuating I was not a good pet owner for not being available the only two options they offered in a two week span. I am not sure how I pay for the vet when I need to work...

Leaving this review on behalf of my parents. They had to bring their cat here to have her put down because she had a cancer diagnosis. She wasn't doing good and my mom decided it was time to have her put down, she stooped eating and drinking. Which as all of us are who are pet owners is one of the toughest decisions that we can ever make for out beloved pets. This place made the whole process very painful...as awful as it gets. Treated the cat and my parents with disdain and hurt the cat in the process of putting her down. They weren't allowed to even be with her the whole time...inhumane. I will be moving to the area in the future and will for sure not use these folks and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

The clinic itself is pretty darn dirty and gross, however there is one amazing vet there and that is the reason we go. Dr. Nordquist is probably the best vet I've ever been to and I have had pets my whole life, both cats and dogs. Dr. Nordquist is so knowledgeable, patient, out of the box, does acupuncture, has a ton of experience, really cares about the pets and does a super duper thorough job. She is able to answer all questions fully and give many options. I highly recommend her...if you can get past the rest of the place. I will only see her there though.

Do not go here. My cat broke it’s leg we scheduled a appointment my son was late to his appointment because it was his first time driving down in the area and he couldn’t find the place. We live 45 minutes from the vet and they turned him away when my cat is in pain and this is a total emergency . I called for over 10 minutes to try to tell them we were running behind I got a voice recording saying their mailbox was full.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Doctors always listen to my concerns. The staff called to check up on my Lab the week after she was spayed. They know how much my bird dog means to me and they go above and beyond with her care.

My 2 dogs have only ever gone to Grand Ave vet clinic. Even during this craziness of Covid-19, they still continued to be amazing and answered all of my questions. They take the time to get to know you and your pet.

Have been bringing my dog and cat here for years. My cat is 14 years old and health is declining fast to the point I believe she was suffering. I called the vet clinic to inquire about putting her down, and they told me they could do nothing for a week. I told them that was unacceptable and would not let my cat suffer that long. They told me there was nothing they would do and I would have to look into other options. I will be looking for a different vet clinic.

On Thursday April 9th, 2020, I had my dog seen at Grand Avenue Veterinary Clinic. She was showing symptoms of Anaplasmosis, a tick born blood disease, that I was familiar with due to a prior diagnosis. These symptoms included lameness in her back legs and tail, an unwillingness to eat, restlessness, and crying; and they were identical to the symptoms that she displayed when she was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis last summer. We had not yet begun our tick prevention for the season, and I removed several ticks from her shortly before she began displaying symptoms, which further supported my suspicions. After explaining the situation to Dr. Elaine Nelson, she examined my dog, and she disagreed that the symptoms were consistent with Anaplasmosis. She advised me that she should do a comprehensive blood test ($150+) along with the heartworm 4DX ($55.93) test to rule out other scenarios. I was not opposed to additional testing, but I wanted to rule out my suspicion before being upsold. As I suspected, the test results came back positive for Anaplasmosis. However, despite the positive test, Dr. Nelson proceeded to try to upsell me for the additional lab work, which I refused. The standard course of treatment for Anaplasmosis is one month of Doxycycline, an antibiotic. Dr. Nelson prescribed one week's worth of Doxycycline, and indicated that she would prescribe the remainder if there was a positive response over the next few days. There was a positive response; although as expected after only four days, it was not yet a complete recovery. When I followed up on Monday April 13th as agreed upon, Dr. Nelson was not willing to accept the positive results of the test, nor the effectiveness of the treatment, and she refused to fill the remainder of the prescription without performing over $200 worth of additional diagnostic testing, plus radiology work. Ultimately, my dog's medication is being held for ransom, and I am being extorted. In addition to the extortion fiasco, which is my primary gripe with Grand Avenue Veterinary Clinic, I also experienced the following: · The nine month supply of Heart Guard Chewables that I purchased for $92 was shorted by four months' worth of doses. Perhaps this was an honest mistake, but based on the conduct I experienced, I am skeptical. · The office was filthy. The floors in the exam room and lobby were dirty, and the entrance from the main street was littered in trash, including an exam glove with feces on it. There are several veterinary clinics in the twin ports that will provide excellent, compassionate, and ethical care for your pet at a fair price. Grand Avenue Veterinary Clinic is clearly not one of them. You and your pet have nothing to gain by giving them your business.

Yes the WORST vet ever. A few years ago I had a LARGE cat ( he was a good companion) ; but got very sick. The people at Grand ave. vet. clinic acted very un-caring & let him die. They charged me lots and lots though. A few days ago , I called there clinic about a cat with runny eyes ; they didn't answer ; but I ONLY got an ANSWERING machine that said " we can't answer, don't leave a message ( because we won't answer it ) ; I caledl back later ". I did call back later, and asked for some eye drops for a old cat; they said I would have to come in and PAY ~ $60 bucks first. I told them I had paid HUNDREDS of dollars last time, and my pet still died, and I just wanted to take care of the VERY old CAT. myself, but they insisted on my bringing the old cat in ( in person). I said it is BAD weather and she gets VERY nervous & I didn't want to STRESS her; but they wouldn't budge. So i am going elsewhere for the drops. Sincerely, Bill Albert

Worst vet I've ever been to. Had a terrible experience here with the owner and head vet. My dog was nervous and scared and evading him when it was time for shots. Rather than try to call him down or accept my offered help, he just pinned my dog into the corner, roughly grabbed his snout, and forced the shot on him. Then he left without even finishing the exam or explaining anything else. Worst bedside manner I've ever experienced from a vet, and I've been to a lot of vets because we tour the country with our dogs. He was in the room for less than 10 minutes. But I still paid for a full exam. Won't be back...

I took my dog here for 3 years when I lived in Duluth and really like them. Very friendly, inexpensive, and the doctors always took time to answer any questions I had. My one complaint is that they don't provide an e-mail address for contacting them for things like medical record requests. The times they are a-changing, Grand Ave!
