i have been going to grand ave vet for over 10yrs with my 5 previous dogs and all was great and recommended them to everyone, now i have a new pet and needed to set up an appointment and was told no new patients were being taken. i explained to them that i have been bringing my pets there for over 10yrs but they were listed under my ex’s name, once they heard that they again told me sorry no new patients because my name wasn’t listed with them for my previous pets. over 10yrs and thousands of dollars only to find out they will not take in a new pet from me because of a name change on the pre-existing account is BS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO VISIT THIS PLACE ANYMORE WHEN THEY TREAT LONG TIME CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS.
the response from Grand Ave Vet has nothing to do with me bringing in a new pet it is talking about previous pets that i do not have anymore, there is no sharing of medical info on this new pet between myself and my ex, this is for a new pet that i have just got. i was not asking for or about info on previous pets, the pets they are referring to no longer reside in the state of mn. all they are doing with their response is tring to save face with the public and no look like idiots that don’t care. if you are a customer with them and you split up with your patner or get a divorce and the other person takes custody of your pets, apperantly all the years you have been taking your pets there mean nothing as far as a current customer goes when you do go and get a completely new pet.

This is the most caring, compassionate and helpful clinic I've brought my dogs to. Everyone here is so kind and truly loves animals. Not only is everyone knowledgeable, but they go out of their way to make sure your pet needs are heard and taken care of to the best of their abilities.

I regret switching to this clinic. Our past experiences have been subpar. And if you’re an established patient, but it’s been to long since your last appointment, they won’t see your pet anymore.

We have been using this vet since I got my dog 13.5 years ago. Over the last week, my girl has gone down hill and needed to be seen and most likely euthanized. They told us their next appointment was 10 days out and would not help us when we needed it most. Thankfully, we were able to call North Shore vet and they got us in same day for euthanization. We did not think our lovely princess would make it through the weekend. I am completely blown away that they would not see her or have appointment times available for these instances. They recommended the emergency vet. This was not an emergency and suggesting we pay those prices was unreal.
Furthermore, a few months back, we had some lab work done. We were told the results would be in within 48 hours. I called after 36 and they said the vet following the case would not be in until the end of the week. We waited almost 5 days for the results on NORMAL labwork. Another vet could not spare the 30 seconds it takes to read labwork and relay those results to us.
Needless to say, after these experiences I would no longer recommend this clinic. Shame on them.
As a response to grand avenue vet saying we needed a same day appointment, we called on Monday (4/29) about this and found a same day appointment today (5/3) to euthanize our dog. They said they were unable to see us for 10 days, even after I explained to them that I thought my dog was dying and would need to be seen sooner. They offered no urgency in taking our case after 13 years of loyalty to them. So, no, we did not demand a same day appointment. We did, however, happen to find another vet in town willing to take our dog last minute on a Friday and we are so thankful for that.

I for an appointment because I moved. My dogs vet is on Miller Trunk Hwy! Quite a ways to travel. All she needed was a test for the summer season. Her vet care is up to date and she is healthy. I'm in AZ for awhile and I called a random vet and they took her the following week! I know the vet I had in 2007- 2012 at Grand Ave Vet has moved on. I'm just Disappointed.

This happened last year. We had a bad experience. Our feline daughter of 22 years had a cancer, a bulging diseased eye, had stopped eating and had lost litter box habit. It wasn't easy to resolve things by putting her out of misery but it seemed like the right thing to do. Made a call, was told to bring her in early a.m. Did. Waited 2+ hours with her in a kennel. Finally called into a room inside away from waiting room. We wanted to take her out of kennel. DON'T was the reply. Soon a staff came and took the kennel with her in it to the "back" and asked us to wait here. Did. In a while a staff came and asked for my credit card. Said "she's being very violent". Left. Time passed, wife went to assist. Angry staff met her and said "stay back in the room". Did. Staff with card came back in with card & a paid receipt. Waited. Finally male staff came in with her in his hands, unconscious, said "she was violent, we had to sedate her." She had a large metal injector device installed in her forearm. Said "she's alive, say the word and I'll inject her". Grieving we did. He pushed in the fluid. No response from her, he took stethoscope, held it to her chest, said "she's gone". Gave her to us, dead, with the kennel. He went out the door to 'the back'. No compassion. We took her and left. Sad.2 weeks later a condolence card arrived. We won't go back.

Terrible receptionists, okay vets. Vet put me through a ton of stress that my cat had a life or death heart situation. Had to go to cities for heart tests; turned out not to be major will have a heart attack any minute like she made it seem. Couldn't they do more intensive tests there? I guess you get what you pay for, meanwhile I'm out $1100 for specialists tests 3 hours away. Other issue: he keeps getting ear infections. Going round and round with receptionists because they gave me two options that conflicted with my work schedule to get him in. All along there was an opening with a different vet the next day I could get him in with. They refused to take accountability for avoiding offering the option with the second vet to get him in sooner rather than offer an appt two weeks later. Apparently continuity with the same vet is more important to them than an animals discomfort. Kept telling me I needed to calm down when asking they take accountability for not offering me the next day appt and insinuating I was not a good pet owner for not being available the only two options they offered in a two week span. I am not sure how I pay for the vet when I need to work...

Tried to schedule an appointment, and they told me I couldn't due to busy scheduling. Got turned away. I couldn't even schedule for the next available time, which was 3 months out. I'm not really sure why no explanation was given. When I tried to thank the lady over the phone, she hung up on me. Superior animal hospital got me in and proceeded for way cheaper than this place offered and way way more friendly if you don't mind the drive for the better quality.Owner is NUTS, the rest of the staff are just doing their job. Kinda strange everytime they get a bad review. The owner fights it like they just got a law degree. Defend your company and all, but the way it comes off is rude and condescending. I know its hard to imagine, but you can't please everyone with your service, and that leads to bad reviews. You really can't please people when you act like how the owner does.
