I’d like to thank this humane society a lot ! We have been searching for our next dog after losing one of our own. I applied at many shelters and adoption places I had to go through home visits ; shots , reviews, and only communication through email. I was approved for dogs from these places in Fargo for them to continue to tell me they were sold already! (Why not tell me this before I go through the hastle). I put an app in and was picking my new furr baby the next morning here !! And the stuff that came along with the pup! I was beyond impressed and thankful! (Food, collar , leash, toys, blanket ). What a beautiful place they have and wonderful staff ! Thank you !

Very clean. Friendly staff. Animals look healthy and well fed.We are looking for more of a puppy, which they didn't have.We'll keep checking in.

They really care about animals it'll be my first call for help in the Detroit lakes area well connected with animal shelters in the area and work well with the other shelters for the benefit of the animals that's my impression after one visit thankful for their help.

This was an "open house" situation and we are currently involved in an adoption process for an older cat. it was different for us, as we had always had same day service when getting our other animals, except for those that needed shots or treatment. we understand we are new to this process at this location, and we can appreciate their caution for the animal's sake. But, this may also be a deterent for some folks in getting an animal which I think is why they are here to redistribute those animals back into society to care for them. Either way, we will be waiting, and have already kind of fallen for the cat that warmed up to us, and the waiting seems unnecessary, but we will hold on...

We had a very good visit with two of the society workers and held a little dog. We also bought goodies and enjoyed them later.

My experience with the shelter has been great all around. We applied for adoption a kitten. The staff called quickly, and within a week we got our sweet boy! They were very thorough in our meet and greet, very knowledgeable, and offered great tips on transitioning. The staff were so friendly, and truly care about the animals in their care. Thank you HSL!

Love what they do with all the cats and dogs and making sure they have homes.How the animals are treated is amazing they all seem very healthy and fit.If you are looking to adopt and I recommend you do please goto the Humane Society of the Lakes.
