It is an excellent place to spend a weekend or several days, the food at the restaurant is really excellent, you have the option of renting a boat and spending a day on the fishing lake, the tranquility, the peace, the views that you can enjoy in this place. They are amazing Super
Recommended if you want to have a weekend or a few days off, whether you are a family as a couple or alone.

We had the best time! Our group of 5 women boarded the Yatzia with excitement and anticipation of the unknown wilderness adventure to follow!
The Voyagaire staff was amazing on so many levels! We were guided through a one-hour tutorial that was super helpful. The guys brought us safely through the “pinch” and moored us to the sandy shore, for our first night.
Six days of stunning, untouched surroundings….gorgeous sunsets….roaring thunderstorms….sunny quiet mornings. Fishing was fun! Canoeing was amazing! When we needed mooring for the night, Al and Dustin were there for us!
Professional, helpful crew! We felt safe and knew Voyagaire’s was at the end of a radio call in, if needed. We learned a lot about working a huge houseboat and navigating the waters. Our houseboat was absolutely perfect! Four berths and two bathrooms and spacious lounging areas….plus, the kitchen was great! Highly recommend this type of adventurous vacation and Voaygaires! Thank you to the crew! Plus, we made it through the PINCH on the way back, all by ourselves! Cheers, The Nancy Walker Team Coldwell Banker Realty

We visited Voyagaire Lodge & Houseboats for four nights during the last week of September, 2024 in order to 1) see northern lights during the solar maximus and equinox, 2) check out Voyageurs National Park on a pontoon boat, and 3) hike to waterfalls. We were able to do all that from this one location, and get meals from the restaurant while our dog was able to share the experience with us.
The first day, we drove 18 minutes to the Vermillion Falls Overlook in the morning and grilled lunch at the picnic area. That afternoon, we hiked the Vermillion Gorge Trail that starts just a few steps from the lodge. Because we take a lot of pictures, and enjoy being outside, we spent three hours on the trail. The air smelled so nice and the mosquitos did not bother us this late in the season. The afternoon sunlight filtering through the trees and sparkling on the water made the last half of the trail especially beautiful.
The second day, we explored the southeast portion of the national park with a pontoon boat that we rented from Voyagaire Lodge & Houseboats. We were a little nervous about using a boat we were not familiar with, but they gave us good instructions, we asked questions, and were cautious so that after a few hours, we felt comfortable avoiding rocks by using the depth finder on the boat, and using the 15-day free trial of the Navionics Boating app. We enjoyed exploring campsites, cooking lunch in a fire pit at one of the places we docked, watching eagles, seeing the pretty views, hearing nothing but the slight breeze, and just relaxing with family.
During our third day, we attempted to hike some other walking trails a few miles away, but read a sign, and heard a sound, that made us think there might be hunters in the area. We did not have high visibility clothing, so we went back to lodge to rest a bit, then returned to Vermillion Falls to see it in afternoon light. We ordered a pizza from the lodge’s restaurant and enjoyed it while watching the sunset from the deck. That evening, a beautiful display of northern lights completed the experience and we left feeling relaxed and happy the next morning.
Reasons to visit Voyagaire Lodge & Houseboats: relaxation, the lack of noise, the smell of the trees and fresh air, the views of nature on land, from the lake and in the sky, the good food, meeting interesting and helpful people, and being allowed to bring a dog along for company. I highly recommend it.

We had the best time on our houseboat vacation. From checking in to the lodge, having dinner on the patio, checking in to our houseboat, and returning to head home, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The boat we had booked was perfect for 2 of us and our dog. We brought our own fishing boat also. Definitely a "must do" vacation. We will be back!

We did have a wonderful time on our houseboat, but not without some qualifications. First of all, the staff including everyone who loaded the boat and provided an orientation was great. The trivia was fun. The boat was fine, but dated. The stereo system was broken, many of the lights were broken, the front gate wouldn't open etc. Our big issue is that on the last day we had a number of problems. We lost running water twice (both fresh and lake), our carbon monoxide alarm repeatedly went off, the motor wouldn't start. We were left without fresh water, had to shut down our generator early in the night, spent hours trying to troubleshoot this. We ended up leaving very late because the motor wouldn't start. The blackhawk team was great and had to come out to assist us twice, but its obvious that the boats are badly in need of repairs. We get it, its an adventure, but after all this not even an apology or explanation at the end? There are a number of other houseboat companies in the area, I would consider those very closely.

My wife and I booked a houseboat trip through Voyagaire, they were very informative and helpful on operating the houseboat and how to find locations to beach the boat. Very nice lodge and rooms.
They have houseboats that will accomadate your groups needs.

Rented us a damaged boat. We took pictures and asked them to record it in writing before we departed. Next day they charged us for a prop replacement. We sent the the pictures we took and asked if they had pictures of the damaged prop. They refused to send any, disregarded our photos and dodged our questions when we asked if the pre-existing damage had been recorded.

The fishing boat we got did its job, but was already in poor repair. When the staff checked the prop before we left he seemed surprised by how poor it looked with paint chipping off and a whole chunk cut out of it. We took a picture and he wrote on the paperwork that the damage was preexisting. After returning the boat from one days use, we got hit with a $400 repair fee (even though we purchased the damage protection). Voyagaire said they would not send photos of the damage as they already threw it away. When we inquired more Voyagaire just got short with us and stopped answering our questions.
I would recommend not being the next one to take out this broken boat and get hit with the damage charge. It was more than double the price of the rental.

Rented a house boat, the cheapest one. The dock staff was great. It's weird that we can't run the generator at night, but that's a park rule, I guess. I really wish we would have gotten an a/c boat, because when we cooked in the boat it stayed really hot in there and I had trouble sleeping, even with day time highs of only 75F and lows around 52 degrees. There were no screen doors on the front and rear patio doors, so I think there was less of a cross breeze. The included Samsung tab was good, but it needed to be restarted a lot, even then it lost GPS signal while driving the boat. Luckly, I had downloaded offline maps with Garmin boating app for $50. When we were on the water everything looks the same on the shores so I had to pull up my maps to get us back on track. We had brunch at the lodge after we returned the boat, but it smelled heavy like pine sol and the 4 of us were getting headaches. The food took an hour and the service was not great. So skip eating at the lodge if you can. $91 for the 4 of us to have brunch. The chicken sandwich I had, had a very small and thin chicken breast on it, so I was not very happy about that, but was afraid to ask for something else because we did not want to wait any longer. All 4 of us called the resort and asked questions, the website said one thing, the people on the phone said other things, I think the website needs a lot more pictures and what's included on the boat before I would book another trip again. Having a microwave changes packing and food prep big time. We were told there would not be a microwave, but there ended up being one.

Wonderful customer service / very helpful and responsive to anything you need before and during your rental. Enjoyed the boat too, had no issues. Our flight was delayed and they kept a team available for our arrival at night to get us on the boat. They run a very efficient operation and super easy to deal with.

Voyagaire Lodge and Houseboats was great! We took our family vacation on a houseboat and the experience was so much fun! The houseboat was comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We also had a fishing guide through them and he was also great!
