Very strict hiring process for only a 17$ an hour job. I was in an hour phone call with someone who asked me a bunch of questions and said I did very good but I was denied the next day for having not enough experience in my past when I said I had 4 years of retail experience. What experience do I need to wrap plastic on books???? Lol, do not apply to work here.

Having come to Mackin after a series of abusive and/or indifferent employers, working here is a real breath of fresh air. "Dignity" is the word that comes to mind. Nobody peering over your shoulder, treating you like a child, using fear tactics to keep employees in line. They trust you to show up and do your job and have policies in place to make work as comfortable as possible in a warehouse environment. Everyone I have met here has been super friendly and supportive. Benefits for full-time employees are competitive and for the work you're doing the pay is decent. Never get that fight-or-flight feeling that I'm used to around department heads or shift leads. Don't buy into the slander, in my experience this is a great company to work for. 5 stars well-earned.

I worked at Mackin over 30 years ago, then was a customer for 20 years as a middle school media specialist. I am back as a summer part-time worker and am a bit shocked at the other reviews. The "pickiness" in processing is so that materials look professional on a library's shelf. The facility is clean unless carts full of books are considered "dirty." The supervisors I have interacted with are clear, positive, and concerned about people doing their job well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mackin as a place of employment or as a book jobber for librarians. They genuinely care about the quality of their product and service.

Would not recommend! Processing department is extremely micromanaging/controlling. There’s a certain way they want you to do things all the time. Always monitoring you as if your a child. They change the policies or add to it every month. Supervisors/trainers can be narcissistic, and very sneaky and rude. If I could give it zero stars I definitely would!

this place gives off really bad vibes. as soon as i walked in i felt uneasy and uncomfortable. 0/10 this place is dirty and creepy.

Horrible company to work for. The place is messy 24/7. They will let you go for being sick and not give you a warning what so ever. This place does not care about their employees.

if i could give it zero stars i would. they break osha law and disregard physical health. very unsafe working environment. creepy men staff listening to you in the bathroom. definitely could find a way better job with way better pay. the inside of the warehouse is very messy and overflowing with boxes. hard to walk and harder to work. they definitely need an inspection the amount of dust is a health concern
