I don’t generally write reviews but I felt I had to with this one.
I went into Penn Lake True Value looking for a pair of wire crimpers for a DIY project and I spoke with Ramon (great guy) after finding out what I needed them for and how close I was he offered to lend me his personal pair as long as I returned them. This act is so far and few between nowadays and because of his kindness he saved me $25 on something I only needed for two wires. His generosity was more valuable than any sale Penn Lake True Value could have made with me and because of that I will be returning for anything I may need in the future. Thank you again Ramon!

What GREAT customer service!!! These guys are wonderful !!!
I took my grandson’s bike there yesterday to see if they could fix a couple things. They couldn’t fix everything - they aren’t a bike repair place - but they did what they could & explained what needed to be fix..
We always try to support smaller establishments & will continue to with these guys.

Brought an old mower in for repair - runs great after the tuneup. If you're lucky, the friendly resident dog will be there to greet you!

I went to Penn Lake True Value Hardware in Bloomington a couple weeks to buy a couple things we needed and because we think it's important to support our local businesses who need our support to make a living. I found both items I needed and was very impressed with the service, help, and attention I received. Much better than at a big box store. And the prices were competitive. I highly recommend shopping this store for your hardware needs.

It was my first time. I didn't want to go to Menards and get lost chasing someone down to help me. I got wonderful service and didn't have to walk around. I was met immediately by an elderly gentleman who got exactly what I needed.

I asked a older bearded man who works there to help me. Old fuzzy face showed me exactly what I needed. Very helpful. Will keep coming back if not only to admire his beard.

Initially we thought this was a great place, but after trying to get a replacement shovel after it broke after not even 2 months since purchase, I can not recommend this place anymore...We are having to go through True Value directly for them to have a shovel sent out to us even though the warranty states a no hassle warranty for 15 years for a True Value branded product. This store also apparently does not have a rewards system. The "manager" did not even know True Value policies (we called corporate explaining this issue and we tried in store with no luck). So overall we will not be back.

This hardware store is great! I went in for an o-ring and was helped right away. They have a very small town, personal approach that is very comfortable and welcoming. I will be going back for all my future hardware needs!
