They told me the recommendation was to go into the vet. When I got to the emergency vet, they said she was fine "according to pet poison control." So there's a very expensive vet visit for no reason plus the $85 for consultation. I called and told them there were two different messages being sent, that she needed to go to the vet and that she could be monitored at home. The vets discharge notes literally say "according to pet poison, she can be monitored at home." This was before any procedures were done. They're telling me that they're not responsible for anything now and won't give me a refund. Unbelievable.

When it's an emergency and you need to speak to someone immediately, telling people they need to pull out their credit card, enter their info, and pay $85 to speak to someone is just deranged and evil. People calling are usually in a panic and need help. They don't have the time to run and grab their card. Should be ashamed of themselves.

Pet poison shared helpful information about my dog and since the vet didn't call, i paid $85 upfront instead of paying $300 if the vet called.

I have a beagle and two beagle mixes that we adopted as adults. Enough said, right? It seems no matter how careful we are, they find things to get into. This is an awesome service that I am grateful to have access to when I find trail mix that includes raisins in her poop, one of them hoarding a nub of an onion in the kitchen and he suddenly has terrible onion breath, or there's a scuffle in the kitchen because someone dragged a new bag of chocolate chips off a table five times his height to his bed. Let's not forget the mushroom the beagle got to in our yard before I did, while leashed. Needless to say, I am a frequent caller, and I am grateful to them. The fee is more than worth it to save the time and money a trip to the emergency vet would have cost in certain cases, like with trail mix poop, or to have a toxicologist calculate the body weight to chocolate (or onion) ingested ratio, then be available for my vets to call to help with treatment and follow-up.I have never called at a high call volume time, so I have never experienced a long wait. It will still be worth it when I do because, with this crew, unless we start muzzle training, I'm sure I will. Thank you for offering this awesome service!

Called the other night per my emergency vet telling us to call a poison control center before bringing them in to know what to do. They were super helpful and able to answer a quick question without charging me. I explained I’d pay the money if need be and what was going on but based off what I told them I asked do I go to the vet or do I pay them to give me more info. They quickly said go to the ER Vet for the foreign obstruction (a bottle of medication, not just the pills but our dog swallowed the bottle as well) and said if the vet needs information on what to do or is concerned of an overdose situation to call back and they’d get a case started for us right away and tell us what to do. I really appreciate them telling us at no charge that we didn’t need to worry of an overdose unless the vet has been worried and that the foreign body in his stomach would be more of a concern than the medicine itself. I was scared I would have to pay just for them to say go to the vet and not have any more info to give us besides that since either way we were planning to go to the vet. However had we needed instructions on what to do based off the medications in the event it would’ve been enough to overdose I happily would’ve paid the fee to get any support on what to do. I think her name was Beth that I talked to on the phone. She was very friendly and super quick to answer the one simple question without needing to open a case number and charge us the fee. I absolutely would call again if we ever needed to! The ASPCA has a fee of $95 and I’m not sure if they would’ve charged us for the same exact question or not that I asked Beth of do we just go to the vet or continue with the call.

I called and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They took their time to pay attention to detail and give me helpful feedback and instructions. They kept me from having to go to the vet due to their instruction. They gave me a case number I was able to provide when I called back for further information. I was very thankful for my experience and am really glad I called

To have to pay 85 dollars to be told to go to a emergency vet which we are already doing disgusting

They were helpful and curated their treatment to all my dogs weights. The fee I’m sure for these to keep this service afloat, it’s a fair price for avoiding the ER Vet and getting peace of mind.

Paid $85 to be told what I knew already was to go to the emergency vet. I called ahead of time per the vet recommending to guide treatment when I go to the emergency vet. When I asked what their treatment plan would be recommended to the vet they refused to answer my questions. Didn’t even get to talk to a real vet.

I’m sorry, but people are struggling in this world, and I understand our pets, get mischievous and get into things but to charge someone over the phone before you have even diagnosed them and not possibly gonna be able to give someone their money back after saying oh well, the dog should be fine or the cat should be fine or whatever animal it may be $85 for something I have to pay for before I even get a diagnosis I don’t think so

NO STARS!!! Don't bother to call this number. It's a scam that charges $85 for no reason. Call your vet first. Very disappointing. Never again. Go find some other sucker.

You are hotline number charging $90 to even answer a call? Shame on you. Imagine if a person called poison control for a human and was required to pay $90 to talk to someone. So unethical.

Well worth the $85 - for those that say just google symptoms you literally have no idea what you're talking about. There's nuance to every case (identification of exactly what was consumed, showing of intial symptoms, timeline, etc.) - emergency vets literally call this helpline to know exactly what they are treating and how to treat it.Whether you call them first or go to the emergency vet first you will have to pay the $85 if your pet consumed a toxin.

Had to pay an insane fee of $85 just for them to tell me what was on google. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone is just googling each question and reading the top result. If you’re concerned, take your pet to the emergency vet and don’t waste your time or money here.
