“I'm feeling confident now, because when someone asks me, "Do you know where I can get an iron lung?", I have Axman St. Paul saved in Maps.I love this store-they also have great stuff for making fauxbots, all kinds of DIY supplies for projects like wiring and plumbing, electronics, science lab glass (it's beautiful!) waterproof aprons, and Prom Queen sashes. Pay attention to every bin label and especially to any handmade signs. Whoever writes all these probably does stand-up at a swank comedy club after the store closes.Pack a lunch, stay all day. Do that a few times, and you may finally have (cumulatively) made it all the way around the store. Then you have to start at the beginning again, bc you know, new inventory...”
9AM - 3PM
1107 7th St W, St Paul“They are always happy to take coats, socks, especially warm ones in fall/winter, sweaters, sweatshirts, flannel shirts, boots, shoes, etc. When you find you don't wear something, don't toss it, donate!”
“A quirky but cool store for very inexpensive art supplies. My daughter likes to go here for art projects. For a few bucks, you can get a bunch of neat stuff.I like the re-used post cards, many of which have hand written messages on them.”
“I LOVE this place. I live in Missouri and have wanted to visit for a long time and finally got the opportunity a few months ago when I was in Minneapolis. It was absolutely amazing- so inclusive, wonderful staff, good organization, large size range, good prices, fans in the fitting rooms. I bought two pairs of pants off the rack that fit me, which is sometimes hard to find, and also two shirts that have become a part of my regular rotation. I really hope someday there's something similar where I live because I really had the best experience here. No notes.”
“Always a interesting visit. Finding all kinds of things to let your imagination go wild. Everything from A to Z at Ax-Man Surplus.(Have 2say the tall/younger dark haired employee that was cashier, was diffinately not 2happy 2B there that day. Never had a rude employee help me till then. Smile everything will be okay.)”
“I love this place! Great prices too. Sign up for their rewards! Lots of parking available out front and across the lot. No steps into the building. The doors aren't (handicapped) accessible, but they are double doors. The green tags were 70-75% off today, Thurs, 2/22/24. Enjoy all my pictures! They have a lot of great Easter Decor out and furniture too! Always a fun time to be had in here. The employees are always friendly and happy.”
“I love this place. Every time I come here I find an entire cartful of treasures. Their prices are so much better than other thrift stores in the area. I feel like they are priced as a thrift store should be. Also very well organized and the staff is super nice.”
“My experience here was absolutely great! Thank you very much to all the staff, especially to Mr. Aaron and another guy who answered all my questions. They were all so friendly and accommodating to my questions/requests. I will return here because my husband liked the chair I got. He might get the same thing.”
“We went the weekend they opened in December. Every booth was different. Quite a great selection and good prices. We got a vintage ceramic Santa, love it! They are now closed for 2 months, then they will open for a few days. I like it. They get all new merchandise from different people, each having their own space to set up. You never know what you will find. We're going back!”
“Free Geek is a great establishment! If you’re into 2nd hand electronics for a low price, Free geek has descriptive labels on all of their inventory so you can purchase with confidence. Also, If you’re looking to experiment with electronics but would prefer not to break the bank, this is a great place to build upon that.”

883 29th Ave SE, Minneapolis“This is one of the places for me -and probably everyone has a few on their own list- that made me feel hurt and almost shameful because the moment I walked into the University of Minnesota ReUse Program for the first time I realized how much time I had lost not knowing about its existence sooner.Working with my hands is my passion and the process of discovery is what drives me. My visits to this place are deeply spiritual.”
“This is a great place. It has well priced clothing with shirts costing just 6$. Definitely coming back, I’m also considering checking out other thrift shops because of how awesome this place was!”
11AM - 7PM
2613 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis“Love this spot! I usually purchase things off of their Instagram for pick up. The staff are so kind and are always cheerful when I stop in. The selection is definitely well thought-out and well-priced. You're able to get great clothes at fabulous prices.”
“It was a super cute place with a lot of variety! It looks small on the outside but once you walk in there plenty of space and rooms through doorways with more stuff! It had a lot of media (records, CDs, books, cassettes) and really cheep sewing/knitting and everything in between supplies! It has a plethora of different pins and things too. Would stop by again.”
11AM - 6PM
1759 Selby Ave, St Paul“My friend and I came here and were immediately welcomed by a friendly lady at the front. She encouraged us to browse and that there was a changing room if we found something we fancied. Overall, I'm far from an expert on businesses like this. That said, there seemed to be items that people would be interested in and I found looking around to be a pleasant experience. There was also live music out front which was unexpected but a fantastic surprise. 5 stars from me!”
“Such a cute vintage shop! Had such a big selection and the paint is such good quality and the owner is so nice. Def recommend to anyone coming through West Saint Paul”
“One of the best thrift stores in the Twin Cities!I love the back room, you can always find some hidden gems back there. They have a good variety of clothing for men and women. Everything is priced very fair and the store is organized to make finding what you’re looking for east. The staff are very friendly and helpful.”
10AM - 6PM
510 County Rd D West, New Brighton“Best place to donate used tools and other items that would end up trashed at Savers or Goodwill. Also supports a great cause. In terms of shopping, prices seemed fair. I'm happy to pay a bit more given that it supports legitimate charity work.”
“Old School is a great asset to the Stevens Square-Loring Heights neighborhood. I stop in regularly to peruse the clothing and have found several pieces from basics to statement pieces that receive lots of compliments.”
“If you like digging, this is the place for you! She is very fair with her prices. Got a couple hours to look? Do it. Business times vary.. maybe call ahead. Happy Friday! Owner is nice and friendly.”
10AM - 6PM
2700 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis“I recently purchased several end tables from Reuse. The tables were dated and that is exactly what I was looking for. They were in great condition, and very affordable. The store is easy to browse in, very clean and the staff was very helpful and polite. I will shop there again when more selection of sofa's arrive. I only wish Reuse had their own delivery service. Great store!”
“I have been going here for 4 years now. The people are so kind and helpful. I liked it before the remodel & I know it has only gotten better. Come check it out. Convenient location & lots of parking, easy to find.”
9AM - 9PM
3740 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis“Venilla was kind, patient, and insightful while helping me with items behind the counter. My visit was a very pleasant experience, thanks to your kind staff! I can’t wait to stop back here.”
9AM - 9PM
1907 Suburban Ave, St Paul“I donate here regularly and will continue to do so. They make it very easy, and I love their mission! Shopping here I’ve always found great finds! My kids also enjoy the toy aisle and find great things to spend their allowance money on. Staff have been kind and courteous; on the quiet side which I don’t mind at all! Recommend!”
“Make sure you get to the register with plenty of time to ring out!!! Great deals, tho!!! Every time, amazing selection of inventory!!! Also, their registers don’t accept American Express debit cards….. which are somewhat new to banking. We have also had issues with other cards so we bring cash when we shop here now just so it’s easier.”
10AM - 8PM
8181 University Ave NE, Spring Lake Park“Clean and all clothes are organized by color and size. Great prices, selection and quality. So ive met/seen 6 staff members since going to this location and I will say it's a split on service. 3 of the employees were short when I asked them questions (not that im asking for FLO type service so its fine but dont look like you hate your job even tho most people do) and sort of blah sorting clothes behind the register, the other 3 were knowledgeable, hit all the sales points and 1 was even singing down the aisle and that made me feel happy.Otherwise, The only negative thing I have to say is the teething rings at the front door were very dusty, wiping them down and packaging them would help them sell and straightening up the toy area. It just looks visually chaotic with everything thrown up there. Also, shame on anyone who gives them 1 star over the bag ordeal. I saw it on the website, I always CALL ahead if I'm unsure and simply to inquire. Also, Don't smoke around your kids, their stuff or leave it in a garage or smoke in your house and think they are still going to take your belongings. That's just bad parenting and 2 you have a phone to leave a bad review but can't put in 30 seconds of legwork to do research by calling or looking them up.If anything changes I'll update my review.”
“Inventory changes daily, even hourly. Fantastic selection, great deals can be found. Once in a while there's a price that “just ain't right,” but for the most part, great place for second (third?) hand goods. Employees can be very helpful as well.”
9AM - 9PM
1000 E Moore Lake Dr, Fridley“Good values, decent selection, good staff, great mission supported. Store is usually well organized and pretty clean. Frequent colored tag sales @ up to 50 off. Realistic prices w/good weekly discounts in addition. Stock is significantly varied, mixed used with new items. Adequate parking. Shopping, food and gym adjacent.”
“I don't look at the clothing and can't speak to that but, besides media, other items don't seem priced to sell. Besides media, pricing is not as bad as Savers but not as good as Overflow Community Thrift (just north on Lexington at 96) or Mythrift at Rice and Larpenteur. For media prices, Overflow is better, mythrift and goodwill are comparable, and Savers is way worse.
I come to this goodwill a lot - at least once a week - because it's so close. I usually look for books and DVDs. There's good variety of books but the inventory is stale and browsing can be a nuisance, because you'll see the same books for months on end.
It would be nice to put the newer items on dedicated shelves. I've donated a lot of books to this store and, although they are in as good or better condition than what's on the shelf and generally of comparable (or better) desirability, I don't see them put out and I frequent the store enough that I should. I suspect that as long as the shelves are full they books donated are sent to some central location and sort for selling online.”
