Our Music School ordered a 3/4 Engelhardt cello. Our card was charged, we received a order confirmation, but never received any shipping notification and never received a cello. We emailed, called (no one answers) and tried everything. We are out $246. So I would not recommend them.

If you're looking for a new or used piano, you'll get great service and good prices at Jim Laabs in Roseville. Ask for Marty or Theo. They'll show you they really care to understand what you're looking for, and won't pressure you into buying. They're just great people!

I ordered a bassoon that this company advertised on a major auction/purchase site. I purchased directly from their company website on December 10, 2021. The only confirmation of purchase was from my chosen purchasing vendor and my bank statement proving withdrawal of funds. I have called weekly, sometimes more frequently, to check on the status. I have been told that it is delayed, and they are awaiting the shipping container to arrive. I was also told that company processes were that the manager would call me to discuss the order. Never once have I received a call from the store that wasn’t initiated by me. I have requested multiple times for a manager to call me, and I have yet to receive a call. They are unable to tell me when the bassoon will arrive at their location. I received no warning when purchasing that the item was on back order or wasn’t available to ship any time soon. It has been over a month since I’ve purchased the instrument, and I have yet to have an actual conversation with management. I haven’t received a company invoice with a purchase number, but I do have proof of purchase from my payment vendor as well as bank account records of money paid to this company. I have asked several times for an invoice from the company and have not received it. This company is using the shipping crisis as an excuse. They should not be advertising that they have instruments for sell with shipping dates that have long since passed. This is at the very minimum a misleading and deceptive practice. Update: I received a call 1/21/22 that they expect shipment to their store in the next 10 days, which probably means longer. Its hard to trust this at this moment. I would like to also compliment Robert. He has always been kind and listened to me gripe.

I'm cross-posting this here since it's another page for Jim Laabs. I called Jim Laabs because I was looking for a quality used grand piano. The item I wanted was already sold, so he suggested a "Schiller" piano, as he was the "distributor" for them. I asked about where they were constructed, and he said "the parts are from Germany". I asked again if it was China or Korea or something, and he said it was a factory that "all the other brands use". So no clear answer. I did my research and while Schiller may have made some quality instruments, the name is now just a stencil brand, and Jim Laabs or someone at the store owns the name and sources out the piano from china or somewhere else where labor is cheap. He can offer this "wonderful piano" for ~$5,000 rather than $15,000 MSRP not only because it's "factory direct", but because he set that arbitrary MSRP, and no other reputable piano company would care enough to sell these pianos. Seriously, search. Only Jim Laabs sells them. Do not buy a Schiller piano. Do not trust Jim Laabs. He is pushy and just wants to make a sale on sub par instruments. When I called Jim and told him about my reservations, he got belligerent and even had the gall to say "the Schiller brand has been around for a long time". While that is true, it is deceptive, since quality Schiller construction has long since passed and is now a stencil brand that he purchased the rights to. He also had the gall to say that Steinway, as well as Mason & Hamlin, had been sold and traded multiple times. While true, they at least do have a quality standard.Edit: I'm updating my review since Jim Laabs called me after I posted this review and said he would like to apologize. However, he was quick to get very defensive and angry towards me, and kept interrupting me when I was telling him about my continued reservations about his Schiller piano brand, so it is difficult to take it as a sincere apology. It seems this happens frequently with him, there was another review where he called the customer to apologize. Maybe he needs anger management. The whole time, I was calm and collected, and to be honest, I just found it amusing that on his apology call he kept getting mad and confrontational at me. Jim mentioned that "many venues and universities" had bought Schiller pianos and had no complaints, however, he was unable to name one because he feared what would happen if I contacted them, which is truly the sign of a man who stands behind the quality of his instruments. Either that or he just made it up on the spot, and is used to people eating it up when he uses nuanced sales tactics such as "Everyone loves them, everyone's buying them, universities, venues, everyone!". I do not recommend doing business with Jim Laabs.I understand that many instruments nowadays are made in countries other than the US. I own some myself. Some of them can be very fine instruments, and are made more affordable by foreign manufacturing. However, you have to use caution and common sense. Talk to a local piano technician or third party piano expert. You are usually better off buying a used instrument of better quality at the same price. If you are in the market and are just getting started in the piano world, or looking to buy for your children to learn on, avoid the headache. Talk to a local piano technician. You can get started with a quality (likely used) instrument below $10,000 or even $5,000.Just don't trust Jim Laabs.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH SUCH A DISHONEST BUSINESS. YOU WILL BE SORRY. Almost two months after paying almost $1700 for a tuba online, and several calls later trying to track the order down, the wrong tuba arrived. Almost three months after the original order was made, they will not take back the wrong $1000 instrument and insist our only recourse is for them to send us the right one in several weeks when it is in stock. Waiting FIVE MONTHS for the right instrument after paying almost $2k is unacceptable, especially when they mistakenly sent the wrong one. We requested they take the wrong instrument back and issue a refund so we can end this experience and they won't do it. I am seeking additional legal action. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND THE HEADACHE, DON'T GIVE JIM LAABS MUSIC ANY BUSINESS.

Purchased item online from this store. Took two full days for them to call me to tell me the item isn't available. Wouldn't work with me to get item for price listed.
