I Built a deck at my house this Winter. Kind of on short notice due to the unexpected lack of winter weather.Jeremy was very patient and helpful, they came up with an awesome decking design. Kdat framing lumber was excellent quality; nice and staight. Treated decking was also excellent. They figured out and supplied me with all hardware required. Railings also turned out nice.Their indoor showroom is excellent for getting ideas and figuring out the “how to” portion

Horrible experience. This happened in 2020 and I didnt leave a review at the time because I was very, very angry. We ordered our decking after a lot of research and decision making. Drove an hour in rush hour to pick up the decking and found once we were back home that several boards were damaged, looked like fork damage. It was all wrapped so we hadn't noticed when we picked it up. Brought the damaged boards back and then waited weeks for the replacements. When we drove back down we found that these replacement boards were the wrong color, entirely. Waited some more. Were told the product had been discontinued and we were out of luck but they wouldn't take back the other materials. We were 5 boards short of being able to complete our project. We scoured the area and made a lot of phone calls but couldn't find them anywhere. I kept calling the deck store to see if there was any way they could find those 5 additional boards and eventually they did, in some affiliated warehouse. They offered to deliver them after the hassle, which was nice. After not getting the boards when they were supposed to be delivered, I called and was told they were delivered. After speaking with several people on the phone it seemed like the driver might have delivered to a house down my street instead. I was told that they had no way of verifying and would not send a driver to correct this. I walked down the street and sure enough, my 5, 20 foot deck boards were in someone else's driveway. My husband had to borrow a truck and trailer to pick them up from 3 houses down. I will never do business with this place again and I tell my story to everyone who talks about considering building a deck.

I would say that the deck store in Apple Valley MN has great product, but their service related to material shipped and a complete quote was lacking. They designed us a very elaborate nice deck. The price they quoted, you would think would be complete with everything necessary to do the job. It did not. The price did not include all of the joist hangers - 28 short, did not include the 2 x 4's that were needed. Some other items were missing too, but will leave it at that.Bob the owner does know his stuff, but talks really fast and is hard to follow, and when you ask questions about how to do something, he either prints out a document or drawing that is hard to follow or draws a pencil drawing that he doesn't take the time to make sure you understand. The product is great, but if you are bidding a deck out to a few suppliers make sure that The Deck store is complete, or you will not be comparing apples to apples - Good Luck with your deck build!

We were referred to The Deck Store from the Trex website. In-person, the displays are even better than what we saw online. Bob took the time out of what was a busy afternoon to sit down and walk us through the options for our floating deck. Very professional and helpful.

We absolutely love our deck! The design and installation were great and we like the low voltage lighting in the posts. We also had a screened porch installed under the deck. We had a few initial concerns but the owner personally addressed them and we are happy with the result.

I shopped all the nearby stores for composite decking materials for my project. One store tried talking me into materials that I did not want. The next store was significantly higher priced. The Deck Store took the time to explore installation options with me, took the time to match material color to my home and gave recommendations on how to install the decking. This alone sold me on purchasing my materials from The Deck Store. They then created a material list for me. During the project I went back several times to discuss installation issues I was having. Each time I received a thorough explanation of alternate approaches to my problems. When I needed just a little bit more of one material I was guided to their “scrap” storage and we found just what I needed to complete the project – all at no charge. When I brought back the few excess pieces I had they readily accepted the returns and credited my account. The Deck Store was always available to answer my questions (during regular business hours) and can be credited with the success of our DIY project.

Everyone knows that projects can take a while to complete and delays occur All The Time. Its not always in the owners control, yet this place wont take back spare unused uncut board after just 30 days. Their excuse is that because they don't stock that particular length of board in their store, they cant return it. As if its the customers fault for picking a length of board that they don't keep in stock and as if its impossible for them to send it back to their warehouse. Its a fairlyCommon Trex board too not some obscure product.Now Im stuck with 9 completely unused boards worth about $350 that they wont return and that I have been trying to sell to someone else for months but no one else will buy because who wants just eight random boards.

I ordered over $15k in decking materials from this store. The customer service was irritated when I needed help with the shipping logistics. I pre-ordered the stock considering supply chain issues and it was impossible to complete installation within the 90-day order window. I made several requests to return $1200 worth of stock and they flat-out refused (in a condescending tone like it was my problem) with no justification why they would accept even with a restock fee. My first and last experience with The Deck Store.

Was told early on that I could definitely return decking. I explicitly asked because I wanted to order extra. They would not take my unused boards back and accused me of not reading return policy close enough. The person in the back office I spoke with was very rude. Now I have $900 worth of wood that I can't sell online because who wants 5 deck boards of different lengths and two colors?

I ordered parts to complete a staircase I was building. The total price of the order was over $2000.00. When the parts came, the main parts were all wrong. I have tried to fix this problem with many e-mails and attempts to show them that because of what they sent, installation was not possible and I did not have time for new parts to be sent. Their "customer service" has tried to minimize all this and insist that I pay to return the items. I have never had so much trouble with a customer service rep ever! All they have to do is look at what I ordered and what was received (I sent them the packing slip). And understand that because the major components were all wrong, they should have made an effort to make it right.

I've not visited the Store, but when it comes to my need for deck accessories and supplies, the Deck Store is my go to internet shopping site! They have most competitive pricing and vast inventory to fill my needs, even on items that are no longer supplied by manufacturers!
