Years ago right after they bought 1st Federal Bank, Mid Country Bank cost me lots of money! Many mysterious debit transactions I never made would happen overnight on many occasions, bringing my balance to a negative. The transactions wouldn't go thru because they were always "pending" as pre-auths, and would disappear the next morning, but I'd be hit with an overdraft fee because these pending transactions were huge amounts! Then, on those morning when I would get paid via direct deposit and also had those mysterious transactions, they would subtract the true pending transactions first I did make, then subtract these other Mysterious transactions next, bringing me even further into a negative balance and more overdraft fees, THEN they would apply/credit my direct deposit. Most times though I'd still be negative because of how they processed the transactions, regardless of time stamps. I brought it up to the new bank manager at the time, and even had proof of these mysterious transactions among other things, but she refused to even look into it and said I needed to manage my money better! I went from having $10k in my checking to being negative by about $1500 all within 2 months, and stayed in a negative territory for 6 months after that! Every other bank would look into this, and will also apply direct deposits first during overnight batching! I damn near lost my house because of their mess up's and refusal to look into the issue. Fortunately I was able to save enough to change banks and get out of Mid Country and start a checking somewhere else! Took me a couple years to get back on my feet again! Been gone at least 15 years now and I've never had any issues with any other bank in that time! Hopefully they've changed their banking practices since then, but I will never go back again. I just wish I had the money to sue them and force an investigation into them at that time!
