We recently stayed at the Newton of Ypsilanti for 3 nights, it was wonderful. If you enjoy staying in a historic, super clean, spacious with comfy beds - this is the place. Chef Allison cooked us delicious breakfasts too, I highly recommend staying here - still very close to Ann Arbor. We will return :-)

Allison and Chuck are fabulous hosts. My wife and I stayed at this little gem while in town for The Game. It is only 20 minutes outside of Ann Arbor and provides a wonderful respite from the crowds. Highly recommend to all U Michigan parents.

Such a great place!!!! Amazing rooms, amazing food and amazing energy in the house. My only disappointment was that I didn’t stay longer and have the chef prepare us a dinner!!!!!

This was my second time hosting a retreat at The Newton. I am local but My Upholstery Retreat Attendees come from all over the US. Allison and Chuck were yet again the most gracious hosts intent on making our experience so special, and they nailed every detail. My guests experienced chef prepared meals, were served drinks and appetizers throughout and got to hear a ton about the history of their historic home and how they found themselves sharing this amazing space with the world. The atmosphere is perfect, the food was just absolutely incredible. I live 2 miles away and felt like I was on vacation far away from home. Thanks for the tremendous hospitality! See you again in the fall!

Awesome place! We only had time for a quick overnighter, beds were super comfy, room was perfectly clean, gracious hosts and awesome surroundings. Parking was right around back, super easy, we really enjoyed Depot town which was only a short walk. Definitely will be back when we have more time to sample what looked like a phenomenal breakfast. Thanks again for a great stay!

Note: we are a lesbian couple. Whether that was obvious to our hosts is unknown, but in any case, they did not seem to take any issue with us and offered exceptional service and attention!Absolutely wonderful stay at this lovely home. We stayed a single night. Chuck and Allison were amazing hosts. We were the only guests that night and had run of the house. We mostly kept to ourselves or went out to do stuff. We did poke around a bit, and the book library and plethora of books around the house, really added to the atmosphere. The inclusion of a chess set in the shared space was nice (tho we did not actually play). We did kot get a chance to explore the grounds, but from what we saw, they were lovely as well. The Barnard Room was gorgeous. The Georgia O'Keefe posters were particularly delightful for us (see above about our sexual orientation). Minimal street noise. Huge comfy bed and multitudinous selection of pillows. Large antique dresser for putting clothes in. Neutral smell. Our hosts had a container of filtered water waiting for us, with two glasses. Room much larger than I expected, and even had a small alcove off it with a chaise lougne and large windows looking out from the second story. The room was equipped with a minisplit AC unit that kept the room at about 75 degrees on a 91 degree day. Bathroom was clean and cute, well stocked, including shampoo and conditioner. I only saw a single bath towel. Maybe I missed the second somewhere. We opted for the gourmet picnic add-on. We were supplied with a large picnic basket and nice-sized picnic blanket. The packed food was very very good! We ended up with charcutery board-type items: two meats (salami and prosciutto), three cheeses (muenster, cheddar, and one I had never heard of that was good), cherry preserves and a delicious mustard, and delicious sour dough slices along with plain crackers and what looked like "everything seasoning" crackers. We stuck mainly to using her sour dough - it was so so good. There was a can of sardines we honestly did not know what to do with, and did not eat. They also gave us a good-sized container of the largest most delicious blueberries I have ever eaten. For desert, we each had a nectarine and a small Godiva chocolate truffle. To drink, two bottles of sparkling water with plastic cups. We were supplied with plastic utensils, and both cloth and paper napkins. We had planned on getting dinner at a restaurant between the picnic and some entertainment we had tickets for that evening, but we got such a late start and the picnic was so filling (even without the sardines), that we didn't feel the need for another meal! We had our picnic at a river side park that was a short walk from the Newtown. We got the suggestion from Allison and Chuck, and it did not disappoint. It was a tranquil setting for our romantic picnic!Note also that we pushed back when we'd pick up the basket from Chuck several times. We communicated with him over text messaging. He was a very good sport about it.The breakfast was just as delicious as the picnic. There was so much food we skipped lunch that day! There was coffee, tea, and fresh orange juice. I took the chain tea and Allison offered to steams some milk for me to make it into a late. It was an unusual strain of tea that turned blue, which was delightfully different. Greek yogurt with seasonings was served, paired with nectarine chunks and granola. The main dish was a poached egg smothered with a Moroccan-inspired tomato sauce. It was delicious! They weren't kidding about Allison's credentials as a gourmet chef!At breakfast, we were offered a tour of the basement tavern by both of our hosts seperately. We opted to tour it ourselves by heading down and looking around. It was really cool!Overall, an A+ experience. We hope to come back again some day and spend a few nights. It's worth every penny (speaking of, excellent value for what you get!). Thank you again to our gracious hosts, Allison and Chuck! You provided us an excellent foundation for our romantic Labor Day get-a

This was such a charming BnB. I was visiting for work but left feeling like I was on vacation - rested and relaxed. The Barnard Suite had the comfiest bed in the world, beautiful bedding and a sweet sun soaked room with a chaise lounge - the perfect reading nook. Allison and Chuck were great hosts and Allison’s cooking is top notch. Haven’t had such a good breakfast in years. Worth every penny, I can’t wait to stay again!
