My husband and I took a 'belated' anniversary trip. We went back and forth between a couple of places, and Cocoa Cottage was a bit further north than we had planned to go, but something kept bringing me back to their website - and I'm glad it did! Room - We stayed in the Godiva room and it was fabulous. The room has its own small balcony that was perfect for our coffee and hot tea in the morning. B & B - Simply beautiful. Very inviting and nicely decorated. Food - I wish Lisa could fix breakfast for us every morning! Absolutely delicious. And her fudge with fruit as a starter was a very good bonus! Her brownies that greeted us at the door when we arrived and were replenished when we arrived back from site seeing the area, were fantastic... Lisa could start a whole new business selling her fudge and brownies! Inn Keeper - Lisa was absolutely perfect. Not only is she a fantastic cook and baker, she is such a lovely person. So friendly and very genuine. Her smile is radiant and infectious. You can quickly tell good people with good hearts, and she is definitely one of them! As I mentioned earlier, something kept taking us back to their website - I honestly believe God directed us there! We truly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Lisa, we hope to get there again someday!

Had a great stay at Cocoa Cottage. Lovely place. It has a nice outdoor area and indoor for breakfast, depending on the weather. It is close to Ludington and South Haven. The owner, Lisa, was very friendly and provided information regarding the area. I would stay there again.

This is our all-time favorite BnB. Lisa treats her guests as family and her private recipe chocolate sauce is out of this world! Our favorite room is the Godiva Room because of the private balcony. We have come on our anniversary for many years and hope to continue to do so.

We absolutely love this bed and breakfast. My husband and I just wanted to get away for a long weekend with each other. The location is amazing and you're able to walk everywhere. There is also a walking/running path that has beautiful views. The breakfasts were even more amazing. I hope we'll be returning here in the near future. We had a wonderful time.

We had an absolutely delightful time at the Cocoa Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Whitehall MI this past weekend. It was exactly the right kind of experience to celebrate an anniversary. I'm not a breakfast person but what we were served the first morning got me up and out of bed eager for more on Morning #2! Delicious!

I highly recommend the Cocoa Cottage for the perfect, peaceful couples’ retreat! You will enjoy meticulously clean, comfortable private bed and bath accommodations, as well as tranquil common areas for enjoying a book of your own or from Lisa’a vast collection, surfing the Web on your iPad (free guest Wi-Fi), or sipping coffee under the shaded pergola on the outdoor patio. Every morning Lisa dazzles you with a staple platter of fresh baked chocolate zucchini and lemon breads served with fresh strawberries and homemade fudge in addition to an impressive gourmet main entrée that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Between the home and the hospitality, you are assured a perfect stay!

The beauty of this Arts and Crafts bungalow was enhanced by the beautiful, peaceful location in western Michigan near water, water, water. The village center of Whitehall was within easy walking distance of the Cocoa Cottage, as well as to recreation trails. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, with thoughtful attention to detail. Our gourmet hot breakfast was tasty and memorable with signature chocolate additions to the menu. The friendly Innkeeper, Lisa, was attentive to our questions and suggestions about local sites and dining.

I was first drawn to this lovely Bed and Breakfast because of the charming, beautifully restored 1912 bungalow. I came back because of that and the wonderful hospitality of the hosts. The home itself is clean, gorgeous and furnished with authentic Mission/Arts and Crafts decor. The room was extremely comfortable and appointed with everything we might need (and chocolates, to boot!). There is also a small lounge area upstairs with a Keurig coffee maker and a small refrigerator for guest use. The Innkeeper, Lisa, is a a fantastic host. Sumptuous breakfasts are served at 9AM each morning and a lavish charcuterie tray is available as an addition to a reservation. Cocoa Cottage is just the place for a relaxing getaway!

Lisa is a very nice innkeeper and it was a pleasure to meet her. Breakfast was good. Served promptly at 9 am. The website makes the place seem a bit nicer than it actually is. Kind of bare bones. If you like mission style arts crafts era you will like the decor. The biggest issue for us was that the bed/pillows were EXTREMELY uncomfortable. A sheet set with light blanket & old thin spread are all that was in the room. We tossed all night & I had to take 2 Aleve in the morning just to get moving. *There really needs to be some upgrades in mattresses and bedding. That would make a huge difference. There are also no little extra amenities offered such as Keurig coffee maker for any time of day or evening treat etc. We are very early risers so that mattered to us. We frequent b&b’s whenever we travel and maybe we are simply used to a bit more comfort or a higher end place…it just honestly wasn’t for us.

Restful & quiet , with great food 2 blocks from down town Whitehall. Great place especially if you like chocolate. We prefer the Godiva room over the kitchen with a small balcony. Can smell the delicious aromas of breakfast & freshly brewed coffee. The innkeepers are the best we've encountered. We go back as often as we can for the peace it offers & the easy exploration of the shops, eateries of Whitehall & Montague, as well as Lake Michigan/White Lake shores.

The host is exceptional, with a thoughtful eye for detail and a talent for creating a breakfast experience that exceeded expectations. From day one to the end of our stay, we felt very well attended. There is not a thing I can recommend to make this any better, it was a wonderful stay!

The breakfast meals were wonderful every morning fresh fruit and fudge before the entree. Authentic arts and crafts home on quiet street. Highly recommend. Lisa is a very gracious hostess and we enjoyed sharing many stories with her. Her breakfasts were a big hit.

Delightful, charming cottage conveniently located in Whitehall. Attention to detail throughout. Be sure to visit North Grove Brewery in Montague, across the bridge, for delicious deli sandwiches and the region’s finest craft beer and spirits. Eat outside on the patio and watch the action.
